  • Will it Run? Zetor 4911 tractor parked in 1986. In this episode we attempt to start the engine up in the Zetor 4911 tractor that was last turned off in 1986. After it’s recovered from being abandoned we go through it including attempting to turn over the diesel engine, check the electrical system and test, check valve clearance and go over the fuel system. After getting results we talk about the next steps with this machine including tyres and brakes. It’s a long episode so we could include everything we did along the way. Come along and enjoy!! #tractor #diesel #oldtruck #willitstart #mechanical #abandoned #willitrun #zetor #farmequipment

    Great video. I have a zetor 3011 with a similar 3 cylinder engine here in Ireland. Gravity feed from drum straight to injector pump would have worked also. The "brown snack" brings back great memories of my time in Aus.
    Looking forward to more videos on the zetor.☘️

    hello my friend, I'm very happy that you managed to start the tractor, this zetor is otherwise very grateful, the machine comes and goes and does its job. I was a little surprised that there are still zetors out there in your house, I love the zetor because it is a simple machine and easy to install! I have an even older zetor 25 A type. Hi, my name is Jan and I'm from the Czech Republic. I give a thumbs up that our machine is worth the effort :-) The compressor has a tractor for tipping the trailer. At the time, trailer tipping was pneumatic. They also filled the tires with it. Later it was also used for trailer braking.

    Best video to date, Steve. If I'd been as lucky as you were, I'd have rushed out and bought a lottery ticket, lol. Great idea to make the tilt float, and it could be made over months and could be put into episodes. I did laugh about someone complaining about the diesel spillage no one cared about gallons being poured onto the ground, 40+ years ago. If they want to complain, go to China, Russia, or North Korea and see what they would say. Love the T-shirt, but I think the postage to the UK would be 4 times the price of the shirt.

    Zetor's are actually pretty good machines. Though like any imported machine especially here in the states they tend to be hard to get parts for since there's not many dealers. I've only seen one Zetor dealer around here and it's an hour or two away in another state over. I've seen some old Belarus tractors here and there as well and they have the same problem. Simple tough machines but hard to get parts for if something vital breaks.

      Thanks for watching mate. They are really good machines. The bigger one we have had been great for us over the years. I’ve never seen a dealer here but anything I’ve looked for I’ve found on eBay and not bad brands either. Not sure about major parts but all the basic engine and brake parts ect are there. There are a few Belarus tractors around that I’ve come across here also.

    What i notice is that zetor tractors start easier than other tractors just pump air out of diesel system and have trottle open and it will start quicker than any other tractor make david brown tractors and some ford and massey are slower to start when trying to get air out of diesel system and the smaller ford tractors have no fuel primer which makes it slower to start because you must use starter motor to start the smaller fords

    • @stevesplacedownunder
      @stevesplacedownunder  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They do start very easy mate. I have a bigger zetor also as I mentioned and if it runs out of diesel it will always start very easily with just hand priming and no tools. I know what you mean about fords. I have a 3 cylinder diesel in my forklift and has no hand primer, or a transfer pump. It just gravity feeds from the tank, through the primary filter and into the injection pump. To bleed that I crack the screw and let it run through itself

    Sometimes I just wonder if people just don't have it too good. They park up good machines just cause of it needing some work. Everyone wanting the newest thing and wasting what we have. I'd just as soon see them give their old machines to people who can't afford to go buy a machine. I could see that much better than leaving one to rot in the brush or just rust away.

    • @stevesplacedownunder
      @stevesplacedownunder  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@stevesplacedownunder I am in the USA, fifty states in all.... some do well and others struggle to make a decent living. Some of our country uses salt in the winter and a few don't. We have right in the middle of our country a area called the rust belt yet just south by one or two states such as Oklahoma, and Texas, no salt as they might get a teaspoon of snow comparatively. All that said, back in nineteen eighty three, our whole country was covered with a heavy snow or freezing weather, Our sunshine state Florida, that is the nickname... lost nearly all of their orange trees to freezing weather and as they say... history is now repeating itself. Lots of people in trouble and can't travel cause of ice and snow. We have a state that shares its border with Mexico, and that is California. People that have never seen snow in their lives are losing homes due to snow caving in their roofs, snow ten feet deep in many places without the places the dozers are piling up tons of snow on the sides of their roads .. politics here has a ton of influence on help those old people needed and still need, as they have such a large population and do control how other states would like to run their own state for say emissions that are causing grief. We are simply put, not ready infrastructurally to go all electric. Most of alaska is a small population, and second in the lowest population, have no means of charging batteries to run equipment. WOW, I have a book here... my point was the few states in our normally free of rough weather have a lot of old cars, trucks and tractors that have zero rust, only rain on occasion to go down exhausts and cause damages. Yet they leave fine equipment to go for newer and bigger equipment... so come time at auctions, a nice tractor sells for scrap iron price. It hurts this seventy three year old mans feelings as I use stuff till its gone completely worn to the bones. I have to budget the things I need, while younger folk in areas like Kansas and Oklahoma enjoy a fine economy waste the old equipment, don't make it possible to ship stuff across the country to where that stuff would be greatly appreciated. I apologize for this long winded story time response... I don't get out to talk much and sometimes just get carried away... you figured out where I was going with my comment a long time ago

      The new international airport is only about 12 minutes drive from my place but it’s not up and running yet until 2026 but the Sydney international airport is about 50 minutes from my place and an easy drive. It all depends on what you wanted to do and visit as too how much planning. It’s a long drive between our major cities over here. If you just wanted to see Sydney it’s very achievable but other cities would be other flights, again depending on what you wanted to see. First thing I'd do is fire up the compressor on your service truck and blow off all the rat crap and trash that has collected ove r the years. It's a once and done deal. Then get after anything that looks like it might need to come off with penetrating oil. Then lube up anything that has to move with a pump oiler. That's what I do before I start turning wrenches. Saves me a lot of cussing later. 😊 Can't work with one hand. Need a couple of tripods - one shorty to sit on a fender and one tall boy to setup in the field. You be a whole lot less frustrated trying to work one hand and your video quality will be much better. 😊 The 3 cylinder sounds terriffic! She's a runner. Get out the pump oiler and grease gun!
