1st song for which Saiki got sole credit for the lyrics. For several songs on this album both Miku and Saiki wrote lyrics, and the band members picked which were a better fit with the music. When B-M announced that Saiki's song was titled "Corallium" I commented somewhere (I forget where) that it must be a reference to Corallium Japonicum (赤珊瑚), a red coral that's polished for necklaces and also into spherical shape to depict the "crimson moon" 紅月. (This "crimson moon" is the "Akatsuki" that Akane used for her Band-Maiko name and Babymetal used for a song title.) 赤珊瑚 is one of the "seven treasures" of traditional Japanese cloisonné. There's some very clever writing by Saiki. Difficult to describe, but the narrator of the song implicitly likens herself to the red coral of the title. The word "drown" appears in Japanese and English, meaning both drowning in the joy of love and the sorrow of love lost. There's a line about the azure sky appearing blurred from underwater, and the azure sky is a trope for the narrator's lover. The word that's used for blurred can also mean "welling" as in tears welling in the eyes.
I don't know if they will change rock but at least they're trying. They experiment, they take chances, they challenge themselves constantly, more than any other band presently. I admire that and that's one more reason I'm a fan.
Are they changing Rock forever? I don't know, but these wonderful ladies have completely changed the way *I* listen to and appreciate Rock music. I discovered them in 2016 and up till then I thought that I had pretty much seen and heard it all as far as Rock was concerned.. But all of a sudden - there they were and a new, beautiful morning had broken. This band is the best that could have happened to me.
Hello friend, thanks for the reaction. I have been following BAND MAID for a long time, since 2016, and I consider them as a very original and authentic band. About your question in the video statement I will say that yes, BAND MAID is changing rock. I have long commented to my friends that, for me, they create a rock that is close to modernist art or art deco or art noveau which are basically the same thing and I have long defined them as Rock Noveau / Rock Deco Masters. Here I put the definition (edited) of Art Deco from Wikipedia and I consider that it is exactly what BAND MAID does with their music. Art Nouveau / New Art is an style of art, architecture, and applied art, especially the decorative arts. It was popular between 1890 and 1910 during the Belle Époque period,[and was a reaction against the academic art, eclecticism and historicism of 19th century architecture and decoration. It was often inspired by natural forms such as the sinuous curves of plants and flowers.Other characteristics of Art Nouveau were a sense of dynamism and movement, often given by asymmetry or whiplash lines, and the use of modern materials, to create unusual forms and larger open spaces. One major objective of Art Nouveau was to create a new style of architecture, art and decoration and break down the traditional distinction between fine arts and applied arts. BAND MAID is doing this now. They are breaking the rules, the logical concepts and the 'must be' as the freedom and the talent has not limits to follow. They are creating their own road and we are the happy spectators of their construction.
This is the first ever song that Saiki wrote the lyrics for any song by herself. Saiki and Miku did a competition on writing lyrics for this song, and Saiki won the competition.
I don't know if they're changing rock, but they definitely have a sound all their own and they know how to write catchy hard riffs. That's a real rock band right there.
The single "Sense" came with other 2 songs: "Corallium" and "Hibanna", later the ladies publish the "Unleash" EP, where included "Sense" and "Corallium", the image belong to the "Sense" single cover, you can find the song with the "Unleash" cover too. In the TGT video they play the 3 songs from "Sense" in order.
Maybe someone else already pointed this out, or maybe you've noticed it too, but the SENSE lyrics are hidden in the picture on this jacket, and it's fun to find them!
The picture is the cover from the ep Sense, and also includes a song called "Hibana", and it is a must listen! Why it didn't make it onto Unleash is a puzzle for the ages. "Corallium" is fire, for sure!
Three beer cans left of Monthly Pigeon. One flask whiskey to right of Pigeon. Drum under the cans. Pigeon feather is above sense. I don't see any bananas or banana peels. Miku is in shadow with her wings.
One of the cool things about PaleNeØ is that the first 2 songs on their channel are BAND-MAID covers. definitely a band to keep an eye on. their debut original song is great and they have lots of talent
Corallium and Balance are a bit different from other stuff on this ep. as Kanami said, a bit more futuristic, modern, probably thinking of digital sounds (not created with strings or skins), painting a nice atmosphere. while this intervention in itself is nothing new in modern rock (or bando maido, for that matter), it's refreshing and therefore a step forward...

Very nice! Thanks for that!

I'm right there with ya!
This song reminds me of bands that don't exist yet.
But should!
LOL Nicely put!
Band maid has been the best thing to happen to rock n roll since 2k , hands down
Well said!
"I'm talking during the guitar solo." You couldn't hear me, but I was yelling at you. 🤣
LOL! At least I didn't pause during it. LOL
Lots of interesting aspects! Let me know your thoughts. Don't forget to Like and Subscribe! Check out the NEW Amazon links in the description!

I love your comparison! I wholeheartedly agree with it! Thanks so much!
it is the new Renaissance of rock... and it is outstanding :)
Well put!

Awesome!
それはHate?の逸話じゃなったかな? Coralliumは、MIKUがソロ活動で忙しかったから、SAIKIが作詞したような

100%
One of my favorite BM songs. There is a great version on BM Prime from their Eggman show
That version is soooo good, probably the best I've seen
UGH! I forgot all about that one or I would've reacted to it. Damn me and not writing things down! LOL

I noticed, but didn't put 2 and 2 together that they were the lyrics! Awesome!
Only Band-Maid could come up with something like this...
The picture is the cover from the ep Sense, and also includes a song called "Hibana", and it is a must listen! Why it didn't make it onto Unleash is a puzzle for the ages. "Corallium" is fire, for sure!
It's so people still want to buy the Sense single, it's just good marketing.
That's probably the case. The videos on the extra disc are worth it, for sure! "Youth" is my favorite!
@@waynebenedict4609 Yeah "Youth" is awesome!
That makes sense! See what I did there! LOL
Three beer cans left of Monthly Pigeon. One flask whiskey to right of Pigeon. Drum under the cans. Pigeon feather is above sense. I don't see any bananas or banana peels.
Miku is in shadow with her wings.
Good eyes!
A new Japanese girl band just came on the scene, check out PaleNeØ - PANORAMA (Official Music Video).
The 6-string bass is badass.
One of the cool things about PaleNeØ is that the first 2 songs on their channel are BAND-MAID covers. definitely a band to keep an eye on. their debut original song is great and they have lots of talent
I think there's a live footage from their eggman show on TH-cam.

I agree wholeheartedly!
