Thanks Tom. I miss seeing Larry. Hey in response to your question about how many youngsters people breed. Here in Tennessee my club members and I breed about 100 and loose well over half. Crazy I know. When I flew in Auburn I would raise about 35 and loose many half. Last year I raised 90and sent 12 out to OLR and after the young bird season I had 63 left
Are you saying you love your doves more than someone else loves their doves or are you saying you love doves more than you love most people… I guess both ways work.
Yes! I built this for my daughter to fly out of six years ago. She had expressed interest when she was younger. I really need three that size. It would allow let me fly the whole program. OB and YB, both with small teams. Like you said keep it manageable. This video was more for me. Looking for ideas. Making it into a TH-cam video was an afterthought. I added my little loft to the front of it and posted it for others. All the best!
What do you do with your loft and birds when temperatures hit - temperatures? Do you cover the vents and put a heating light ? I want to start raising birds but I live in North Dakota
Birds can do fine in freezing temps, my climate is very mild winter it’s rare to drop below freezing maybe a couple times at night but warms during the day. The big thing for your climate would be waters on a heater to keep them from freezing and I would cover the top window of my small loft with clear plastic. I would not want the cold air blowing right on the birds. You also feed extra to cover the calories burned keeping them warm. I would find folks local to you and take a look at their lofts. Good luck! Let me know if I can help👍
I guess you could, there would be a couple issues, with races come losses, you would need to keep pairs separate in such a small, if you lost a mate it would be hard for the other pigeon to race back to an empty breeding cage. I did a 4H group for a couple years. Six 5 week old pigeons to little 3x8 rabbit hutches. The kids would train their birds and we did races. We started to have problems as the birds started to mature. One pair would dominate the other birds, not let them off a perch to feed, water etc.
The small loft at the beginning of the video just has treated lumber on the floor. The older lofts at the end were stained years ago but it has since warn off.
I currently have 3 pigeons that have mad my balcony their home.I dont want to kill them or destroy their home for the winter but they are a nuisance and shit piles and piles. I am up on the 5th floor so i cant just hose out where they shit either. what do you suggest for housing and shiotting that i can deal with this? ill put up some boxes or something but man all this fucking shit they shit out is bad.!!!!! i get it they are safe from predators up high but man its a lot of shit
You are a better man than me. I would catch and relocate them. I am sure you can find someone that wants some pigeons. If you are going to let them stay I use a taping knife everyday to scrape out my loft. Good luck 👍
Sorry for the sound, not sure what happened but it cut out early several times. If you have any questions about any of the lofts please let me know.
got some more ideas. Thanks.
building a 10x10. I raised pigeons when I was a kid and now going to get back into it.
Hope it goes well for you! Happy New Year!
How did it go? Can we see it?
One of the best videos on lofts
Thanks!
Enjoyed seeing Larry’s lofts. Still does the deep litter
I am still over there everyday taking care of his birds, he is slowly getting better. He will come out and sit. I will tell him you said hello!

Very nice. The water would fine in the summer time here in Minnesota but winter time they would freeze 🥶
Hope your snow melts soon! Our grass is already starting to dry if it is not watered
@@littleloftonthehill my parents live in Missouri and have cut grass 4 time already. We just started to get little green grass
We love small working lofts like these…lumber is pricey!! Do some more
Don’t hate me, I am building a little larger loft 😬 but I like small lofts as well
Man love your channel keep the videos coming and fast 🎉😊

Well I see where you got your inspiration from. That water holder is pretty great. What about something like that for your feeder as well??

Nice, keep it up. I like the videos!

Tom love your little loft .but would you like to go abit bigger ? But suppose its manageable..

Try a ( pull shade) on that inside window, maybe that will work for ya!
Great idea! 💡
glad I could help
Pegions are so underrated
🕊️
The loft is very nice. My sugestión is put the traps close to the roof . The birds gone to trap fast.

Great idea, they want to land the highest spot they can 👍
Very good and practical. Cheers KAAPSTAD
Thanks!
that's okay, just put a piece of plywood temporarily at the top of the landing board so they can't see inside. its perfect design
Question…can you race from something as small as the breeding hutches?

The bad side of having a tin roof is that when it rains it makes a lot of noise for the pigeons inside. I recommend sandwich plates for the roof.
Maybe a new loft 🤔
Are all the lofts built with treated lumber or a stain?
The small loft at the beginning of the video just has treated lumber on the floor. The older lofts at the end were stained years ago but it has since warn off.
👏👏
I wish you took your time when you show the setup for the water system
Hi Muhammad, I will put it in my next video at the very end, I will post it on Friday
First
hello, tell me what you can give pigeons for appetite
Mine like peanuts, raw shelled peanuts
I am building a loft also my front will have a door up higher and the screen windows will be on the sides of the door
Sounds like a good plan 👍
