An update on what the dev has said about release: the Dukes have been tied to the SU15 update because of 1) an issue with the WT Garmin 530 that requires a manual work-around at the moment that SU15 would have fixed, and 2) making use of the new ground handling in SU15. However, with the recent delay, the developer said yesterday on the JustFlight forums that they are considering a pre-SU15 release and have mitigated these remaining issues. So , hopefully it will be out sooner rather than later!

@@justflight I really hope so. I rather have the Dukes now, but with those known issues* than without them, but later. I would guess that most people that are waiting for those aircraft think similarly.

Oh this is good news! Holding back such a masterpiece like the Duke because of "the eternal SU15 that will never be" for 10 more weeks (or even half a year or no one knows how often SU15 is getting delayed agein) would be outright false :) True art like the Duke must be honoured, and some small GNS530 issue can easily be patched with some small hotfix at the end of 2027 when SU15 is released.

The Beechcraft 60 Duke is a twin-engine, six-seater fixed-wing aircraft developed and manufactured by Beechcraft. The aircraft has retractable tricycle landing gear and a pressurized cabin. The two piston engines are turbocharged, and the turbochargers also pressurize the cabin with bleed air. Some Dukes have been modified by Rocket Engineering of Spokane, Washington, replacing the Lycoming reciprocating engines with Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A-21 or -35 turbine engines. The modification does have some disadvantages as it increases fuel burn from 210 to 250 L/h and lowers the certified ceiling from 30,000 to 28,000 ft (9,100 to 8,500 m). The last variant, the B60, was introduced in 1974. Production was discontinued in 1983. Despite its excellent performance, the Beechcraft 60 was only a moderate bestseller, mainly because the complicated technology required a high level of maintenance. Built to the quality standards of a King Air, the Duke sported 380-hp, Lycoming TIO-541 engines - rare beasts, those - which means when both come due for overhaul, the choice is the overhaul or buying a small house in the Midwest. In a few days, anyone can buy this MSFS 2020 add-on for a fistful of dollars. Without risking a fortune. And without blowing at least 170 liters of aviation fuel into the atmosphere in a single hour. When planning cross-country flights, piston engine pilots typically assume a fuel burn of 170 liters per hour, plus another 150 liters for each takeoff and climb. Owners compare the Beechcraft B60 to classic sports cars and emphasize that they don't fly the Duke to save money. Oh, the Beechcraft Duke. What a beautiful airplane. It has always been one of my favorites. I've seen them flying in real life from time to time. But they are rare. Another exceptional preview by Into the Blue Simulations. Black Square’s Piston Duke brings you one of the most technically advanced aircraft simulations for Microsoft Flight Simulator, with an advanced reciprocating engine simulation, over 120 possible failures and the most advanced turbocharger, pressurisation and cabin temperature simulations in MSFS.

Another excellent review! I know that you didn't need the reversers for that landing but it would've been interesting to see them at work anyway. I typically like to see any aircraft that have reverse thrust/props incorporated into the design to be demonstrated, but that's just me.
I did notice that the "Left & Right Oil Doors Closed" annunciator lights were illuminated throughout the entire flight. Is that the typical state these 2 doors should be in? I'm asking because the "yellow" lit labels are usually indicating that the pilot should consider the function at some point and either activate or deactivate the option.
However, I have absolutely no idea if this is always the case. I know the BS Piston and Turbine Duke have been released recently and I believe you've done the review on the Piston version in Part 2, which I do plan to watch.
I did consider buying the "Bundled" Piston & Turbine Duke versions, which would save about $20 USD. But I decided to go with the Turbine version only because I simply don't have very many multi-engine turboprop aircraft in my personal collection.
I'm burning daylight and I need to get on with that purchase so, thanks again for a great review!

Quite an unusual subject for an add-on, even the piston Dukes are rare (and getting rarer with the cost of overhauling the engines exceeding the value of the airframe!). The turbine even rarer than that, but nothing wrong there, I'd rather see this kind of GA aircraft in MSFS that you wouldn't get to fly in real life, rather than the common singles that you can rent at your local airfield easily.

"*Sometimes* a little light on the controls" has generally in my experience of constantly fiddling with aircraft been down to MSFS "stability" settings - one set of which are only stability if you consider that to be "pointing into relative wind" which in the ever prevalent MSFS turbulence is anything but stability, and the other set are basically a giant gyroscope & make it feel like there's a big hand holding the aircraft ( I kinda like to think of a giant toddler making brbrbrbrbrr sounds ). Some a/c respond well to just zeroing them - the BS king air took really little work and only a small chat with a B200 pilot - and some need everything else adjusted, unfortunately, and I'm fed up with doing it :p that has put this on a wait & see I think, given your usual gift of understatement. I'm really waiting to see if the turbine & avionics from this make it into the King Air.

@@RyanbATC I'd have to look but I have a large catalog of Flight1. I remember it had a digital (PFD, etc.) cockpit or analog. I always used the analog.
Added in Edit: Flight1, ATA, VRS, were the lion's share with a couple of Iris and a smattering of Carenado (which with ATA's realism add on were actually pretty good) and a couple of boutiques like Dino Catteneo, a French dude's C-150 Aerobat, etc. With the ORBX, Real Earth, power line add ons and a couple of homebuilt sceneries it was really a very nice sim. MSFS looks amazing though. I'm reticent due to some of the limitations. For instance, if I want to fly my VRS Superbug, I'll need to add Prepar3D or reinstall FSX. I just wish there was an effective way to bring my hundreds of dollars of FSX stuff into MSFS, including TacPac.

@justflight You have a fan for life. Please keep it up and give us detailed checklist we can print in a great format.

Turbine Duke uses flat-rated PT6A engines.
And if even an addon that claims to be such high fidelity cannot get the ITT behavior right as altitude increases, then there can be no hope for MSFS.
Alternatively, Black Square didn't bother implementing a proper turbine simulation despite all the promotional videos.
Note for the video creator: Climbing to higher altitudes in a turboprop with flat-rated engines would allow the viewer to better determine the behaviour of the engines.

My go to reviewer for addons, I actually think this has a ugly front end so I”ll be passing of this one, but I am looking forward to the rollover of EFB etc to the TBM850. 👍

Are any plans announced to bring the EFB to the 850?

Going to pass! I place a lot of importance on flight model. Already own the TBM850 and that is enough systems management for me.

LOL, dude goes through meticulous pre-flight checklists, then doesn't even monitor the gauges at engine start, instead opting to go outside and watch the propeller spin up. Oh, Flight Simulator noobs, someone must love you.

@@kemc77 Oh yah? Well, what if the engine hot-started while our trusty pilot in the video was watching the propeller spin around??? Or what about low oil pressure? It's about one million dollars to replace a PT-6 these days, and if you Flight Simulator types have that kind of cash you all should be out flying REAL airplanes. I'm livid right now and can't even keep typing.

@@kemc77 Alright, cowboy, I'll play your little game. I challenge you to go out and find ANY pilot who endorses starting up a turbine engine from the outside of the aircraft so they can watch the propeller spin up. This is sheer madness and yet you trivialize the possible consequences of an engine fire as a result of unmonitored gauge reading during that critical phase. What's wrong with you, Man? Snap out of this insouciant state of apathy you are displaying. Unless an engine fire is exactly what you want to happen??? Is that in fact what you want???
