I'm amazed this crossing is all main lines. Other railroad crossings of this length that I've seen usually cross through train yards where not all tracks have traffic on them. What's also surprising is that there is a ramp on one side of the bridge, but there's currently none on the other side. Maybe they're waiting for that other ramp before they officially decomission this crossing. It's 4,000 feet (1.2km) from any other place where you can cross over or under the tracks. The next station west of here (Namamugi) also has a long crossing, but has more room between tracks for where people (any any vehicle under 6ft tall) can safely stop if they get trapped.
Oh yeah, I went to Namamugi at first because I thought that was the longest crossing but I was wrong because there's a break spot in between the JR crossing haha.
Hi! I really like how you structure your videos, short, to the point, and informative and you give us a little about the video before hand. Love the work man keep it up! (currently watching) that is bigger than I thought lol.
Interesting spot! I will try to include this in my next Japan trip! And I have to say I really like how you approach your videos! The structure and how you take your viewers along exploring
I’m glad you liked how I structured the video! You should visit here before it closes down (not sure when that’ll be but it’s rumored to happened sooner than later)
hell yeah I've heard of this before, cool to see you covering this I love how they still have the arrows on the crossing as if its any useful indication of how long you have until it opens
in my small city there's a pretty big level crossing it has seven tracks since it's near a station, but just after it, so it doesn't go over all 12 tracks of the station itself in order starting from west, they're for express trains going down, express trains going up, local trains, a passing loop for local trains, and two sidings. the last one was part of an international connection that's now sadly out of use a few years ago it even allowed cars, but now it's only for cyclists and pedestrians. they physically made the entrance and the barriers smaller, but the rubber bit you walk on is still wide enough for cars.
That Sotetsu train at 1:39 (Sotetsu 12000 series) is about to enter the Sotetsu Line. That train had originally ran on the Shonan-Shinjuku Line before leaving the Shonan-Shinjuku Line tracks at Musashi-Kosugi to head to the Sotetsu Line, going to Ebina. Japanese railways are so complicated... but because I have been a massive fan since my first visit in November 2023, I knew all of these now. That freight line is the Musashino Freight Line.
That freight line is Tokaido Freight Line. Sotetsu-through-service and Freight trains running on Tokaido Freight line share same railways between Tsurumi ~ Yokohama-Hazawa freight station. Sotetsu trains branches inside Yokohama-Hazawa freight Station, heading into Hazawa-Yokohama-Kokudai Station. Freight trains return to Tokaido line at Higashi-Totsuka Station. Man, Sotetsu line is really complicated...
I can't even imagine living next to this crossing and dealing with that constant warning noise. Also that thing at the end wasn't a train or a car, it's a locomotive. The same one that pulled a gasoline train before that.
hi, i've watched a few of your videos since last month, and I really appreciate the places you recommend like umi-shibaura station that I would be going when I visit japan. Ive noticed that your last video went viral, so i wish the best for your channel's success. keep up with the videos, i respect the amount of effort you put into each one of them.
Great video and I still have yet to check out that location. That last locomotive you caught was an ef66. Great catch of the Narita Express in its slightly new livery.
@@tannerslifevideos It's actually an EF210, owned by JR Freight. I saw a few running light during my visit to Japan, and they are simply either moving to the spot of their next freight train or going to the locomotive servicing shed.
I’m definitely keeping an eye out for your channel, saving each and every video so the next time I’m in Japan (~3 years ig) I have a bucket list of things to visit already. Love your channel, especially the bullet point you add at the start. All the best for your growth!
didn't know that such a crossing exists, somehow assumed that there would only have the overhead bridge to cross to the other side. it'll be a nice spot for train fans to visit🙂
there is one more similar crossing on the Tokyo Network (interestingly crossing many of thesame lines). it's roughly half-way between Oji and Higashi-Jujo on the Keihin Tohoku line, crossing the Takasaki, Shonan Shinjuku, Yokosuka, Omiya bound Express and Tohoku freight tracks... never saw it being used during the day, though I and many others used it late in the night to get back from the local Izakaya quarter to the large apartment complex's on the other side of the track... much faster and easier than climbing all the way up to the bridge (a steep climb of maybe 200 steps)
This is the video I didn't know I needed in my life, hahaha. Watching it gave me so much anxiety, though. I can't imagine living near that crossing, it's so noisy!! Anyway, this was a fun and fascinating video. Thank you for sharing it!
I drove around there. Next to the JR East Shinkoyasu Substation, there's a 8 tracks crossing for cars split 6 and 2 tracks. It is so nerve racking. Between the parts, there are a road and houses! I didn't know there was a 10 tracks section for pedestrian.
3:31 There seems to not be a singular name for these trains, I find. However they all share the same Shounan green/orange livery so I just go by that lol
Also, Kokudou station of the Tsurumi line just to the east of this crossing is very atmospheric and, as I've read, still carries bullet marks from one of the WWII bombing raids.
It's pretty cool from a train nerd perspective but it must be pretty stressful for the train drivers, especially when older (slower) people are crossing. In Melbourne where I'm from there are 2 train crossings that also cross with trams. Very cool.
I visited this very crossing back in May and made my own video on it. I'm so glad it was still around when I visited and still around now. Sad that it might be closed soon but I can see why it would close if nobody uses it. Its a great railfanning spot
have you tried the chuo line green cars yet? iirc they won’t charge you the green car fee until march 14th (when the 2025 train schedule takes into effect.)
Looks pretty interesting. Thanks for showing this off. Hopefully it is replaced soon for the bikers. I would hate to get stuck there in the morning unable to cross.
Thank-you its sad that it won't be around for much longer. This sounds sad, but for me, when I'm in Japan, I like visiting places that might seem boring for some people. But for me I find it interesting as again no tourists.
It's funny (and sad) to me that you say that this place is very loud, because here in the US there are commonly freeways even wider than this cutting through our cities that are even louder at all times of day. Just goes to show how far behind the US is compared to Japan and the rest of the world when it comes to public transit.
God i like trains Like DAMN i love trains Trains are so damn cool I gonna bring a nice camera to japan next time and will spend like a whole day just filming trains
Thank-you its sad that it won't be around for much longer. This sounds sad, but for me, when I'm in Japan, I like visiting places that might seem boring for some people. But for me I find it interesting as again no tourists.
They better not do stupid things otherwise theyll destroy timetables of Tokaido, Yokosuka, Shonan-Shinjuku, Ueno-Tokyo, as well as Keihin Tohoku Line (and all the limited express trains as well)😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
The fact that the crossing exists in the first place is nuts.
Forreal
I'm amazed this crossing is all main lines. Other railroad crossings of this length that I've seen usually cross through train yards where not all tracks have traffic on them.

That's good to hear, thank you!
Yeah I thought the same thing when I first saw the crossing for the first time haha
That's nuts! Imagine getting caught in "no man's land" while crossing. I bet morning rush hour is a flurry of activity.
Yeah, it’s actually scary thinking about the worst case scenario.
I’m sure everyone during rush hour crosses the bridge instead haha
the fact that it only takes 7 minutes for so many trains compared to 5 minutes in germany for one train is crazy
JAPAN TRAIN CONTENT YESSIR!!! subscribed!!
More to come! Thanks for subscribing!
Your bite-sized videos are such a treat to watch! Always looking forward for more!
That's good to hear :) Thanks for watching!
hell yeah I've heard of this before, cool to see you covering this
I love how they still have the arrows on the crossing as if its any useful indication of how long you have until it opens
Seeing those arrows feels more like despair because the arrow turns back on when another train comes from the same direction haha.
6:02 That is the JR Freight's EF210 electric locomotive.
if you lived next to there you better have insane sound isolation or you would go mad...
rent must be cheap around this area 😭
Your channel is a gem. I will have to watch all of your vids!! Nice work!
Yay! Thank you!

Your channel is fantastic. I recently found you and instantly subscribed. Thank you for all the great videos you create and share here! :D
Wow, thank you for saying that! I'll be posting more videos like this in the future :)
I can't even imagine living next to this crossing and dealing with that constant warning noise.
Also that thing at the end wasn't a train or a car, it's a locomotive. The same one that pulled a gasoline train before that.
Ohhh I see, thank you for sharing!
Good place for trainspotters, though!
hi, i've watched a few of your videos since last month, and I really appreciate the places you recommend like umi-shibaura station that I would be going when I visit japan. That means a lot, thank you so much!
Great video and I still have yet to check out that location. That last locomotive you caught was an ef66. Great catch of the Narita Express in its slightly new livery.
Ohh thank you for sharing! And yeah glad I got Narita Express as well.
@ I just subbed to your channel! Love your content. I have some Japanese train videos on my channel too
@@tannerslifevideos It's actually an EF210, owned by JR Freight. I saw a few running light during my visit to Japan, and they are simply either moving to the spot of their next freight train or going to the locomotive servicing shed.
This is rapidly becoming one of my favorite Japanese channels. Keep it up with the unique and interesting spots.
Thank you!!!
I’m definitely keeping an eye out for your channel, saving each and every video so the next time I’m in Japan (~3 years ig) I have a bucket list of things to visit already. Love your channel, especially the bullet point you add at the start. All the best for your growth!
i've really been enjoying your videos! the laid back atmosphere of just exploring interesting places where you live is very nice
That's nice to hear! I'm glad you like the places I casually go to.
That is really interesting and cool to see. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much for watching!!
Another great video
Thank you!
I'll put it on the list for the next trip! Thanks.
Sounds good! Thanks for watching :)
TEN tracks?!?! Huh???? That's a ridiculous number!
Great video btw, top quality.
12 If you include the Keikyu Line (although there's a break spot in between)! Thanks for watching!
Wow awesome video dude
Eyyy welcome welcomes!
1:41 Sotetsu train! I love the through running of railway lines in Japan
Another line I need to add to my list ! I’ve only used Shinkansen and Shonan Shinjuku line to Yokohama
Haven't been on that train before so definitely wanna go ride it in the future!
didn't know that such a crossing exists, somehow assumed that there would only have the overhead bridge to cross to the other side. it'll be a nice spot for train fans to visit🙂
I might be wrong but I think the crossing was made before the bridge!
Yeah this place is fun for those who like JR lines😆
Thank you very much for every video ❤ I really enjoy them.
Also thanks for talking a lot/explaining 👏🏻
Yeah of course! Thanks for watching!

Great Video! Very interesting! 👏🏻
Very cool that each line has their own color scheme.
Yeah me too!
This is the video I didn't know I needed in my life, hahaha. Watching it gave me so much anxiety, though. I can't imagine living near that crossing, it's so noisy!! Anyway, this was a fun and fascinating video. Thank you for sharing it!
Yeah I got a bit of anxiety hearing all of that haha. Thank you for watching!
really nice video i highly enjoyed
Thank you!
My word…….10 tracks…..unbelievable!
This is the content I was born to watch
Hello!
Stuff like this is why I like TH-cam
Glad you feel that way!
Another Great Video! Enjoyed them all :)
Thank you so much!

3:31 There seems to not be a singular name for these trains, I find. However they all share the same Shounan green/orange livery so I just go by that lol
Yeah true, there's so many names so it can get confusing haha
they are the E231-1000 series or the E233-3000 series btw. yeah i know, japanese railways are absurdly complicated
4:34 footage of me every time I talk to people about rather serious topic and then a train passes by.
Imagine asking someone out on a date then a train passes by
Interesting and fun to see!
Woah living next to those crossings beeping nonstop must drive people crazy
Also, Kokudou station of the Tsurumi line just to the east of this crossing is very atmospheric and, as I've read, still carries bullet marks from one of the WWII bombing raids.
I actually went to the station in my past video! I didn't know about that bullet mark thing til someone mentioned it in the comments.
I have this vision of Godzilla standing on the tracks and blocking the trains.
sounds dangerous
I like your presentation style
Thank you!
Just saw your Japan railway crossing compilation video! Glad you got to see it as well.
@ Thank you! It was definitely a highlight. Your video was great. You gave a-lot more information than me
have you tried the chuo line green cars yet? iirc they won’t charge you the green car fee until march 14th (when the 2025 train schedule takes into effect.)
Wow, I'm actually planning to try it soon haha
Hope you look forward to the video!
Wow, I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a crossing in the US, at least outside a train yard
Imagine living next to that, all those ding dong ding dong and vrroooom screechhhhhh sounds all day long.
I would move out immediately
A dream for a trainspotter, though!
Very cool!!
I agree!
For the algo, sick vid bro btw
Thank you!
Idea: Go to a train station when Dr. Yellow arrives, there will be a TON of people on the platform and it's pretty fun.
was the street built first or the rails? i don't think they had 8 tracks when they first built them
Looks pretty interesting.
Always love visiting obscure places that no one really knows but the locals (hell, even the locals probably don't care that much lmao)
Yeah you can enjoy both the journey and the random destination haha
Yeahh and even if these videos go viral, it's not worth visiting for 90% of people anyways
It's funny (and sad) to me that you say that this place is very loud, because here in the US there are commonly freeways even wider than this cutting through our cities that are even louder at all times of day. Just goes to show how far behind the US is compared to Japan and the rest of the world when it comes to public transit.
do japan use meter gauge or borad gauge?
1.067mm mostly
Very interesting
How on earth do you cross that if you have mobility issues?
Resolve ur issues
God i like trains
Like DAMN i love trains
Trains are so damn cool
I gonna bring a nice camera to japan next time and will spend like a whole day just filming trains
Its gonna close?
Just an incredible spot, but where are the bicyclist gona cross when this is closed ?
The station next to this one called Namamugi station has a crossing where bikes and cars can cross!
whats the point of this crossing? and why is it closing anyway
Have you gone to the widest one?
I have no idea where the widest one is haha
what happens if the gates close before you make it across?
I highly doubt that would happen but if it closes, people would have to duck below the barriers
Have you been watching Suzukawa Ayako? 😆
I've seen her videos when looking for inspirations but never really watched them haha.
In Austria, you would not be allowed to build something like that.
Fair enough, it's not safe haha
Level crossing speed run Japan%
This is Crossy Road but in real life
I like trains.
Crossy Road!
Bro who designed this death trap💀
👍🐻👍
this does not look safe. I am surprised they do not put an elevator at the bridge to make it possible to cross with bicycles, prams, wheelchairs etc.
they have an elevator for pedestrians!
Thank-you its sad that it won't be around for much longer. This sounds sad, but for me, when I'm in Japan, I like visiting places that might seem boring for some people. But for me I find it interesting as again no tourists.
