Thanks for sharing your tips getting ready to use for first time! Was wondering if I could wrap it around a mini plastic pumpkin bucket will it stick and how do I avoid cracking?? Thanks!!
This was extremely helpful thank you my parents were gonna throw away all this paper and I decided to take it home and try to learn to make paper mache or clay
Thanks I liked these tips I am acustome to using clay that you have to have a kiln for. I have not been able to do thos since college but thanks to you and another TH-camr I can now use paper clay no kiln or expensive glaze needed I can afford to use paper clay thanks
You are so cute! Loved the tips. I am thinking about sculpting an airplane fuselage, and i'll perhaps do a paper mache base around a papercraft model, and then cover it up with cold porcelain for smoothness. I'm so lost because there is so much information about air dry clay, paper clay and cold porcelain Aaaaaaaaaaaahh!
I do buy it! I get Creative Paperclay -- I find it at Hobby Lobby. Other brands I have tried seem to be a bit dry or hard to shape, but Creative Paperclay is fantastic. I have never made it, though that seems like a great option.
Emma Will Thank you. I was thinking about making some, and came across the site ultimatepapermache.com. If you check it out, you may find this a paper clay that works well for what you do. Please let me know what you think of you try it, or find another recipe that works well. I'm rather new at this, lol!
Good tutorial. You mentioned Modge Podge. I do like Modge Podge on some things but I tried it over a small Artist Trading Card and it ruined the painting. I haven't tried it over paper clay yet.
Yes, unfortunately it ruins any painting that is water soluble...but if you paint with a non water soluble paint or do some sort of mixed media, it can be an option. I've ruined things with modge podge too...so disappointing : (
I'm so sorry I didn't see your comment...I don't make it, I buy Creative Paperclay. I love how nice it is so haven't felt the need to make it. I bet there are some good recipes from other youtubers though.
Will paper clay stay strong if i make keychains out of it? I wanted to put them on bags, house key or even my car keys but im afraid it will get spoiled very bad 😢 any suggestion?
That would be cool! I think it would hold up if you put some kind of varnish on them that would protect the clay. I have never tried that though. If you do try it, let me know how it goes!
Thanks for the tips! The inner structure is very important and has saved me from wasting a lot of clay!
You're an excellent teacher. Well explained, great ideas! Thanks for posting this.

Great video! One question: Do you buy it (and if so, what kind), or do you make your own (and if so, do you have a recipe that you can share with me?)
I do buy it! I get Creative Paperclay -- I find it at Hobby Lobby. Other brands I have tried seem to be a bit dry or hard to shape, but Creative Paperclay is fantastic. I have never made it, though that seems like a great option.

How do I dry clay.

Your right I painted a little clay pumpkin and used watercolors and acrylics and covered it with a high gloss modge podge and that worked pretty well.
Mod Podge, not modge podge.
How do ypu dry paper clay sculptures?
It’s air dry
Does waterproof spray work on it for protection?
An art fixative spray that is not water based will definitely work for protection : ) hope that helps. You can find it at any craft store/online.
Emma Will wow you replied fast. Thank you so much. 😊 I’ll try to find it.
You're welcome! I hope you find some : )
