You should add the EO after the oils are melt, otherwise they lose their properties and scents when too much heated

my paper clay was hard as a rock so i added water now it is like face cream help

I couldn't wait to see how the oil went on my hands. Right after making it I put a little on and it and it hardened up. Is that just because I haven't let it cool yet?? I thought since it was a liquid it would just absorb into the skin. I want to make more right now but afraid it wont turn out.
