The Best Paper Clay Recipe without water | How to make paper clay for modeling

- Want to know how to make paper clay without water?
This video shows the best recipe for paper clay (a kind of papier-mache) that is used to sculpt a wide variety of crafts on our channel. All ingredients are very easy to find in every home.
This paper clay does not stick to your hands, holds its shape perfectly, cut with a knife or scissors. When the paper clay dries, no cracks appear on it and it does not break when dropped.
To make such paper clay you will need:
1. PVA glue: 500g or 540ml
2. Toilet paper: 20g or 60 sheets
3. Building Putty "Finish" (Gypsum finishing compound, Gypsum finishing putty, Gypsum putty, Finish wall plaster, Building finish plaster): 350-450g or 10-11 heaping tablespoons
4. Flour: 400-420gr or 12-14 heaping tablespoons
5. Liquid soap: 4 tbsp.
6. Sunflower oil: 2-6 tbsp.
Important!
Choose the amount of ingredients yourself, based on your needs. For example, if you need thicker paper clay, add more gypsum putty and flour. If you need to make paper clay more ductile, reduce the amount of dry putty and flour.
Do everything as shown in the video:
First, add all dry ingredients to the glue, then liquid soap and, at the very end, sunflower oil. Mix everything well, put in the refrigerator and after 24-48 hours the paper clay will be ready for use.

По которому не понятно самые важные свойства глины: как долго она сохнет, оставляет ли отпечатки или при усушке они съезжают, насколько прочна эта глина. И тд и тп. Так что мб и подробно, но без этого весьма бесполезно

I love the result I'm seeing. It's super smooth. I was just wondering if because of the oil it leaves oil residue on the surface where the paper clay is glued. For example on a canvas. Sometimes I use molds and if I want to apply it on a round surface I have to glue it before it dries. And does it work well with acrylics once it dries?

Hi. As I told you in another comment, paper clay dries on its own at room temperature for no longer than 24-36 hours.
I’m sure it is the same amount of time as other paper clays.

I tryed it. No resdue and very well with paint and I left it almost 4 month in the refugerater and it is stil workable! I made sculptings on cardboard and painted it with acryl colors works really really well. Even rolled out and used coockie cutter with it! Love it. 👍👏
Eddit (13.02.) I had to through it in the trash it last really a couple of month (made it way before christmas) I had it in the fridge, if it got to hard I used a little bit of handlotion and it soften emidently.

@@stormgamingyt6307 I don't had one jet...an I stil have peace of that clay in the fridge to see what is happening...I stil used it last week...it was a bit dry so I used handlotion to reativate it, it worked.

Hi. To prevent the fungus from appearing, add 1-2 tablespoons of vinegar to the paper clay.

I can see the oil seeping out to your hands in the video. How long does it take to dry? And how does it effect paint once dry? Would I need an oil based paint?
Hi. The drying time of paper clay depends on the layer. Usually, the first layer is 1-2 mm thick and dries up within a few hours.
Sunflower oil does not affect paint drying.

Hi. I don't know if you can use Paris plaster instead of gypsum putty. Try and write the result, please here.
One year late...
Anyway, as I understand it, gypsum (powder) is the base ingredient to make plaster of Paris, but unlike plaster of Paris is in its inert form. Plaster of Paris is designed to react with water, and settle between 10 minutes and 72 hours. That's bad news for what we are looking for here. It is expected each grain of plaster in the mixture will bond and settle with the nearby grains while you're still adding/mixing ingredients.
Maybe if you manage to squeeze the mixture fast enough before any aggregate hardens, could be workable, just like if you added flour. But basically, you just added unnecessary complication/workload, against the desired result, killing in the process the properties of the plaster of Paris. You cannot reclaim settled plaster of Paris for reuse (unless you have industrial oven to reclaim the gypsum inside, which is a difficult process, or at least, very costy)
I advise you to not do it, *but I understand,* that white powder seem to have magical properties when you look at the wonderful products of art made out of it. :)
To use plaster of Paris in a workable way, you mix it with oil based paint and retardant(s) to lengthen its hardening time, as a surface overlay. It takes days to dry and you can then sculpt/sand then paint/varnish. The overall work takes weeks if not months. Another usage is molding, it being either the molded object, or the mould (but because it hardens so fast, you can't work on large objects, must split everything in tiny pieces). Caution, plaster of Paris + water heats up while drying and can burn skin when the volume exceeds that of a mug. Thinking of moulding your hands or your face in a bucket ? *DON'T !!* Also, plaster of Paris expands while drying. Don't mold things that can break. How do medics manage to plaster a fractured bone ? Applied in small quantities over bandage with the appropriate amount of water, they have to go back an forth resuming forming the band support and preparing the mixture. Small quantities = no burns, and little to no waste, but it takes time.
So use something else for your recipe. Chalk ? Chalk may be better based on the desired result. Besides the flour, the gypsum powder is just a filler, so, chalk may do the trick. Should also give fine powder salt a try, some interresting reaction/result may occur :P

I often work with paper clay. It's fun and cheap. I think your recipe is much more expensive than mine. As a simple recipe, I take 1 roll of toilet paper, about 2 tablespoons of white glue, 2-3 tablespoons of wallpaper paste and if necessary I colour the mass with acrylic paint (otherwise I paint it at the end). The longer I crush the paper with a blender, the finer the result becomes. I made some large lampshades, decorative figures, etc. with less than 500 g glue. Your paper clay looks good, but is unfortunately also quite expensive.

Me diz😢 deu certo? Segui o passo a passo, exatamente como está no tutorial. Grudou em minhas mãos de tal maneira que deu trabalho, eu lavava e voltava e acrescentava mais gesso e mais farinha e grudava em tudo na vasilha, troquei pra outra e grudava kkkkk meu Deus, um horror. No final joguei fora e lá se foi tempo e dinheiro...😭😅🤯

Yo solo le entiendo asta el papel y el colbon de resto quedó en las mismas por que la verdad no tengo idea cuales son los otros ingredientes ni los líquidos por el idioma debería ponerlos en español ya que habemo personas el otro idioma

Interesting - you are showing the clay off more like it makes great molds. Does it? Can you use this as a mold? Also, it's pretty greasy looking - even after it comes out of the fridge. With all the oil and dish liquid - how long does it take this clay to dry on average? It seems like you do some pretty thick pieces. I've never made air dry clay before and have been looking into it. Almost all of them have a short shelf life, but if I try to make some I will use this recipe. I just have to have something in mind to make with it. Oh - how strong is this clay after it dries? Actually, I was just thinking that I could use this to make a doll! But it depends on how strong it is. Thanks for sharing this.
Hi.
1. I make a lot of handicrafts out of this paper clay. I use it especially often to create fairy-tale houses. On this channel, you can find many crafts made from this paper clay.
2. One layer of paper clay 3-5 mm dries completely in no longer than 24 hours at room temperature. Nowadays, when creating paper clay, I almost never use sunflower oil. For this volume, I add only 1-2 tbsp. tablespoons of oil. And if during sculpting paper clay sticks to your hands, just grease your hands with fat cream or oil.
3. It is not advisable to apply a thick layer of paper clay, since it tends to become covered with fungus from the inside (at the point of contact with glass, cardboard, etc.). To prevent this from happening, I recommend treating the product with an anti-fungus agent.
4. Some of my fairytale houses are over 3 years old and very sturdy.
I recommend that you make one batch of paper clay and test it for your sculpting.
@@CheerfulCraft..I’ve heard of adding a teaspoon of liquid bleach to prevent the clay from developing mold. You might try that! Also, can Plaster of Paris be used in place of Gypsum putty?
This is the best recipe, I continue to use it since i first used it one year ago :)

Здравствуйте. Да, изделия из бумажной глины можно окрашивать. Я для этого использую акриловые краски. На канале есть много сказочных домиков, сделанных из бумажной глины по этому рецепту.
