    So happy you teach your techniques. I wanted to try to use my beloved pastels over charcoal, but didn’t know how to make it work. Now I will try it! Thx so much! 😊

    Excellent tutorial on how to use the variety of charcoals! That acetone trick is brilliant! Is there a substitute though as that is pretty harsh? Many thanks! Really enjoyed this 🥰 Cheryl

      Hi Cheryl, nothing I’ve found that works as well yet! acetone containing nail polish remover works too so it’s slightly more dilute. Water damages the texture of the paper too much. Something that I would like to try out is charcoal and water on Yupo paper. I imagine that would have a similar effect and the water wouldn’t warp that paper

      Just remembered this one was on wood, water doesn’t work on this either as it doesn’t evaporate fast enough or move the charcoal enough to leave the interesting marks

      @@StudioWildlife Wow, that is very insightful and using Yupo with its slick surface should get some fascinating speckles!

    Do you have a glass top table that you're just putting your paint directly onto? If so that is genius!

    • @StudioWildlife
      @StudioWildlife  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I do, it’s just a tempered glass desk 😁

    No matter how much varnish I spray charcoal always ends up on my brushes 😫 how do you do it?? Lol the paint won't come off the brushes instead just gets my brush dirty..help!

    • @StudioWildlife
      @StudioWildlife  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I spray 2-3 layers of fixative first then about 3 or 4 layers of glossy varnish over the top usually leaving about 30mins -1hour between each coat.

    Why don't any Artist explain how to treat paper first before painting
