    I watch these videos over and over and keep learning. I put a wall around my irrigation pond for my nursery and now I'm gonna do a retaining wall out of this same vinyl material. Your help has been appreciated.

    Dale, just subscribed. Have learned so much from your videos and I am paying close attention. About 5 inches of rain in an hour in July was more than our seawall could handle and it buckled along the waterline - probably needs to be replaced. I wish you and your crew worked Florida's NE Atlantic coast but your videos have made me aware of the right questions to ask when hiring a seawall contractor in this area. Keep putting out those great videos!

    I replaced my own tiebacks 10 years ago with 3/4" 304 stainless and one of them already broke from rust/corrosion. What should I use now? I knew I should have originally used 316 and 1". What do you think?

    • @DaleWHickman
      @DaleWHickman  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for your question. I thought I had already answered this this morning, but I don’t see my reply. I would definitely go with the type 316. I used to use type 304, but I realize it was not working out because it’s not a pure stainless steel. It Really depends on the elevation and the back load on the wall as far as the diameter of the rod needed to be used. We typically use 5/8 on our walls. We will go as much as 3/4 to 1 inch if the back load requires

    My contractor used I-Beam dead-mans driven 10' into the ground and spaced about 10' apart. From each I-Beam, he connected rods that connect to the wall. In addition, my wall has two (one, high one low) I-Beams attached horizontally to it, which are also connected to the dead-mans by another I-Beam. I'm surprised to see the deadman pipes here are only 6' long. I suspect my installation will far outlast this one.

    • @DaleWHickman
      @DaleWHickman  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That sounds great. Steel I beams in environment that I work in would not last super long so that’s why we choose Wood.
