      i struggle with this line of thinking because of the rise in RL1 playthroughs. people can beat radagon on RL1 if they’re skilled enough so it’s hard to really nail down the difference between RL and skill when it comes to beating mogh.

    I think this attack power upgrade system Miyazaki was referring to being similar to Sekiro is gonna cap us after a certain point where level 150 is no different then 300 within the DLC area. Just my opinion.
    EDIT - meaning they will gimmick something up where we only can do so much damage to enemies naturally, then we can raise attack by obtaining these upgrades. I don't know what will probably be something weird like "jars of Miquella's sweat" or some other sus sounding thing.

      I have a feeling the level scaling won’t be very balanced in the dlc. Will either be too easy or ridiculously hard. I’m leaning towards it being easy if you did everything in the base game. I hope it’s challenging and not easy

  • @2JOfficial
    @2JOfficial 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +40

    If for whatever reason the DLC still seems a bit too easy for you, you can just respec at Rennala and dump some levels into something you don't use. For example i'm level 163 with a +10 Bloodhound Fang, if i'm killing enemies too easily, i'm going to respec and dump a bunch of levels into Faith which I currently have ridiculously low.

    • @cionm7077
      @cionm7077 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      The difficulty is not going to be based on level, Miyazaki knows that after 2 years most players still playing are overleveled and also the difference between levels amongst them is big. we are going to get level capped and through fighting bosses you can become stronger like In sekiro. No point in respec.

    There is one reply to a comment here I saw that pointed out something really smart. They mention how in DS2 there are Giant Souls which determine how effective you are at damaging Vendrick. Yes, it is functionally similar to Sekiro's attack power. But in terms of lore, it might be similar to how DS2 does it. Maybe in the DLC, we'll get something relating to Miquella that will help deal damage in the Land of Shadows. It could even be something like the cut content dream mist item. This could encourage non-combat exploration and maybe make use of the sleep mechanic which is hardly used in the main game - both by players and enemies.

      You're absolutely right, thinking about the level of your character is the wrong way to think about it since all items scale on only 2 or 3 stats. If a level 400 has 99 Intel and 99 dex but running a strength faith build, it just means he is roughly at the power level of a lvl 202, but he can switch build when he wants and be more flexible in his game play
      The only true answer to that question is not what level your character is, but in what NG+ your character is. I have one char lvl 330 in NG+7 and i don't want to experience the DLC in NG+7, damages from any mobs or boss are too F stupids + they have crazy HP pool. It's very challenging and i dont want to do that for my first run into it

    Then again if the DLC is letting you increase attack power with its own specific mechanic, then level may be more of build requirement than a DLC requirement. Hard requirement as of now is beating Rhadan and Mohg, both of which can be beaten at level 80 with relative ease.
    I have a sneaking suspicion Messer the impaler will be the first major boss you fight in the DLC.

    i was level ~160 when i finished my first run. im now on NG+4 and sitting around level 310. so honestly im not too worried about the dlc being a cakewalk since i've already made the game harder for myself. for those who're wondering, after a point i decided to balance my stats out so i could use just about every weapon in the game. i believe the last time i check i had about 50-55 levels in each stat.

    120 to 150. If someone is higher, I think fromsoft will use the current phantom downscaling mechanism to bring people down to the level of a host around 150.
    Notice 150 is my guess, but you get the idea. There's gonna be a threshold where leveling up won't make much of a difference.
    Personally I think this is great and makes me actually consider going in with a 200+ build, heck even 300!
    I'll be able to use whatever weapon/equipment while being scaled down appropriately. I'll only use the new power mechanic if the challenge becomes absurd.

    would love to have the "meta" go from 150 > 170.
    hybrid builds are pretty sucky while purist cheese builds reign supreme at 150.
    just had some douchenozzle pop half my health bar with 1 moonveil slash, and i'm at 153 with 60 vigor and heavy armor (this guy was clearly a squishy magic user with sub 40 vigor).... he then ran off when he started losing, because of course he did, and then when the host decided to ignore him and proceed on the beaten path (WHICH IS A TERRIBLE IDEA BTW) he just went on top of a wall and sniped the host clean off a ladder with a greatbow, he survived the barrage of arrows at about 20% hp but the fall finished him.....
    the fact i feel like i constantly have to min/max my equipment, can't carry more than 1 weapon because my build revolves around the 101 poise breakpoint (which means heavy armor) and literally cannot spare a single point in mind let alone another point in endurance is awful... i'm a strength/faith build in heavy armor and i can barely meet the faith requirements needed for non-dogshit incantations, let alone the FP to cast them more than 3-4 times.
    i constantly feel like i am just a few points short of almost anything outside of a one-trick pony build at 150.
    if i don't need FP, i need weight load, if i don't need weight load or FP i need faith, if i don't need faith, weight load or FP, i need HP or dmg.... CONSTANTLY FALLING A FEW POINTS SHORT IN WHATEVER I NEED IS A CONSTANT AT THIS TIER!!!
    whoever decided 150 should be the meta was about 20-30 levels short. actual garbage tier in every sense of the word.

    My biggest concern with this is high NG cycles requiring much higher character levels in the base game and then entering with effectively 0 attack power on mega scaled enemies. None of the information we have so far explains how higher NG cycles will be accomodated. Will we have some sort of "baseline" attack power and go up from there? or will we have 0 and thus a MUCH harder time damaging bosses.

So I hope that the game doesn't punish you too harshly if you're over leveled.

    i am a bit conflicted between two options:
    1)go with a 137 RL character that has basically everything. the problem with that is i wont have to "rely" on the equipment that the dlc gives me because of my complete build
    2)go with with a level one wretch with EVERYTHING discarded after i enter the DLC, scavenge everything i can find in order to survive(this challenge is the most fulfilling in the 1st playthrough of the game). the problems are that its going to be hard ASF, no pvp and i dont know what upgrade materials im going to get in the dlc (if its going to be only +8 +7 i wont be able to upgrade a weapon at all)
    what do you guys think?

    • @DreyfusLagoon
      @DreyfusLagoon 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I would do the second option but with a character that you can get all the way up to maliketh. That way you have all the upgrade bell bearings. I found that I can get up to maliketh like that at level 80 so maybe stop leveling them there. At level 80 all you would be doing is putting points into vigor and endurance anyway. Then, if you want that character to be 137-138 for invasions in the DLC, you’ll still have 58 levels to play around with your damage stats as you continue to level up in the dlc. Thus you can build your character out while playing the dlc, acquiring the new weapons and armor.

    I think they’ve already mentioned that it will have a level scaling system like Sekiro’s DLC. Where the level you are- whether that’s NG+7 or on your first playthrough, it won’t matter much. If you’re end game I’m sure that would be preferable, as I’m guessing gear or builds will make the main difference. Honestly, at this point I think I wouldn't be opposed to FS adding some sort of level cap at around 150 to 200. That way they can balance everything around players being at those levels. They could have a system like Attack Power added to ng+ cycles and the dlc so players can optionally become stronger, but have no effect on PVP.
    We'd have to go for actual builds, instead of maxed out characters, there would be a lot more players in the same level ranges for coop and pvp, PVE could be balanced around a specific endpoint and these concerns about being over levelled would not be a thing.

    Not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but this sounds a bit like the "Giant Souls" in Dark Souls 2, and how it changed how much damage you did to Vendrick. By having a feature associated with the level of "shadow" (or "light") you've gathered, the DLC would become easier as you overcome the "resistances" of enemies.

I get my character to around level 130 doing most major bosses except malenia, placidusax, and maliketh + everything that comes after him. So when I beat the dlc I can beat the rest of the base game with whatever I come out of the dlc with. Ensuring im prepared with lots of smithing stones and larval tears for whatever the dlc gives us. Although doing it this way has its downsides. Considering most of my final bosses are fire giant, godskin duo, and commander neil, is a bit unfortunate because those bosses suck imo.
