Nice video! One thing I realised only on subsequent playthroughs is that the races' rematch actually mirrors your own movement. So yeah, they do get challenging and you'll be always trying to beat your previous routing and execution, which is fun. Maybe this mechanic should have been made more obvious through the dialogue.
Wow, that's actually pretty similar to my suggestion of multiple rematch levels. Though, I'd still find it more satisfying to beat developer-set standards than my own highscore. Also, it definitely should've been communicated to the player better.
@@TurboToxin from when i played, if you lose to them after the first race, they’ll downplay their victory by saying ‘thanks, i got all my tips from you’ or something like that, which was what tipped me off
I thought I've seen it all for analysis videos on this game, but you dove even deeper! As an aspiring game dev, inspired by this game, I really appreciate it. Definitely just got a new subscriber.
i appreciate the opinionated-ness of this analysis. many would shy away from sweepign statements about genres but i respect how you clearly outline what you dislike abouy the genre and then show how short hike actually outdoes it. very well written stuff, subbed
Great video! This is the first coverage of A Short Hike that I've seen online but I've played the game for a while an I love it. If you're still interested in this game you should try the boat glitch, with some practice you can get a 0 feathers run which feels pretty cool.
Spoiler free- I adore gris, journey, abzu, and a short hike is no exception to the chill exploration genre as it has done everything right. At least for my taste anyway. Not too long or too short as it takes around 6 hours to fully 100% finish the game. The characters, atmosphere and the music all go extremely well together. The only problem I have is that it’s too short, but it must be short as the game is called a short hike. Wish this game got more love so that a similar game or a sequel could happen. Great review mate!
A shame this only got 900 views while your Deep Rock stuff gets so many. I like your style no matter what game you're covering. I hope you get around to making another video again but if not, I couldn't blame you.
Hey Turbo. I am really impressed with the quality of your video and your analysis of the game from your eyes. Do you think you could do one of those for Tunic as well? I think Tunic lies more in the Zelda-like subgenre but learning a little bit towards a Soulslike sometimes, and it has a great deal of mysteries. Looking forward to more content
> game is free on epic games
> likes the game
> buys it on steam

And the fact this was made by one guy is mental. And the soundtrack is bliss
