    I agree on the wash, but I don't think I'd use Nuln Oil. I'd use an oil wash or homemade acrylic wash, just because of the price point.

    Looks great, but with the wash it goes to epic!

    I wonder how well this would print on a resin printer? Maybe scale it down so it doesn't use 1000 liters of resin and can fit a large hulk on a normal table 🤔

    Congratulations, anyway, I think you used too many layers of spray and paint, one on top of the other, this clouds the final result. On the other hand, next time use vallejo pigments instead of salt

    I think you should wash the silver but leave the rest

    I'd definitely do a strong wash on the walkways. Probably a roll-your-own wash like others have said. The gaps in the walkway are great for receiving that detail IMO.
    Personally... if you have an airbrush, I think an overall positive effect might be using a medium-light pass with an airbrush, using a darker color, along the edges of the walkway to kind of darken up the walkway edges and the outside-play detail areas. I think it would make for a good dark mood, and also make a good artistic vibe to it. Nothing fancy, just one long slow pass kind of "outlining" the walkway edges.
    But man, such a cool project!!! Thanks for the videos!

    I really like your paint scheme, although I personally don't think I would bother weathering the outsides of the corridors. Personally, I would do the wash. This is an interior environment, and it makes more sense to me that it would be oily and dusty in most places over being rusty and corroded. Just my two cents. Regardless, that is going to look amazing once you have it done. Happy painting sir!

    Do both, some areas nuln oil, some areas not. I think the diversity adds more realism instead of only one style running the entire length of the build.

    I was inspired by your set so I bought them and am about 3/4 through printing. I also chose 135 percent size but I have a prusa mk3s and I have tweaked the settings to print faster. strangely enough I find the prints I do are better with the prusa slicer than cura. I had to make the doorways thinner as they sit on the tiles and I split the door itself so I can lay it flat in the slicer and use prusa slicers colour change option is I print the door in silver then swap to a colour then back to silver this saves me painting the door and looks perfect. I also sliced the top of a floor tile from the build your own kit and print them in black, dark green or dark red, silver and they look stunning no painting needed. then I glue them onto the floors that are built in the ready built peices. this raises the floor a few mm and i needed to shave a bit of the door buttons. I print the bulk of the rooms and corridors silver and after sticking the floors in place all I need to do it highlights a few bits with paint.

      Do you have pics posted anywhere? I'd love to see your build. I use PrusaSlicer for my MK3S but the Ender 5 works better with Cura for me.

    what is the size of the bigger space hulk tiles?
    are they printable on an 18x18cm plate?

    • @gaminggeek241
      @gaminggeek241  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, the room width is right at 155mm so should fit your plate. Again, this is at 135%. The only thing you won't be able to print as one piece is the larger room that is a 3x4 square, one-entry room since it is 197mm at the longest side.

    They look freaking amazing. Wish I had the equipment and space to have this amazing 3D look. Guess I will have to keep using my imagination I would never have the space to make those big maps. Awesome work, it definitely shows. It took me 15 years to get a copy of space hulk I think I got 3rd of 4th edition.

    I like the Nuln washed areas!!! Have you considered using Typhus Corrosion?

    • @gaminggeek241
      @gaminggeek241  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Typhus Corrosion makes more of a muddy look and I was aiming for rust. Although it would look cool underneath that rust.

    • @chalkboy8
      @chalkboy8 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@gaminggeek241 It'll give it texture, that's for sure. I've used it as "leakage" and liquid staining.
