Just getting into 3D printing.. found your video.. and loved it.. I start playing 40k with space Hulk # 1. I own all of them. I am now printing them out now. I have even adapted your painting, with a couple adjustments, one being after seeing the struggle you had with your silver for the walkways I used rust-oleum Hammered, over the salt effect and the walk ways look amazing… thanks for the amazing videos and great ideas.. keep it up..
Man, because of you, i now will have to get into Space Hulk once i finish making my HeroQuest 3D board... "thank you" i guess? haha. Seriously, thanks! You are inspiration to me!
Impressive. Nay, AMAZING! You've inspired me to do so many things, and this is outstanding! Sadly I don't have the space for this nor the Space Hulk game, but I can see the effort and love you put into all your projects. Thanks for the great content!
Stellar work! Some of the most satisfying results can be side effects and mistakes that came out awesome, love the salt residue. Has anyone ever tried to dye and use different colored salts for molds and such?
What! It's multi-level!? OK, then I take back my previous comment about weathering the outside of the pieces. Seriously, that looks freakin' amazing! I so want a set.
Just bought the Outpost Military Corridor set and got the HVAC as well after seeing your videos. Going to use it for various skirmish games, Star Saga, Deadzone, Scrappers, Rogue Stars and This Is Not A Test. Just need some inspiration for layouts, then figure out what I need to print.
I'm 6 parts in to printing this set and I'm so glad I watched your videos otherwise I'd have printed it at 100% and been stuck with the set too small. Have you used the magnet method for joining the tiles or just the clips? At 135% a 6mm ball magnet might fit instead of the 5?
The blue effect is awesome!! If you haven't already, would it be possible to get a listing of how many of each crossroad, straight, rooms etc, tiles you need?
Go to page 13 to see all the tiles based on edition. I have 3rd so used that list. www.bertholdnuechter.homepage.t-online.de/Compendium%20of%20Space%20Hulk%20missions.pdf
Thank you....now I am sure which terrain I will print. I was thinking about the Thingverse Space Hulk and this from Dragon's Rest. I hav printed 1 sample tile each (and the Dragon's Rest Designer also said, 135% will be the best) to compare. And it looks great. How do you get the 2nd level (in game I think its mission 12)? Greetings from SG
If you print the risers, you can create the second level, but that is optional. You can always just have the levels side-by-side like on the original cardboard layouts. Am I understanding your question correctly?
Thinking about undertaking this project... would u happen to have a part list for how many of each is needed to print to match all the spacehulk tiles? Dragons.rest is aces. I got their trihex sets for BSF. I have the base game tiles printed. Need to paint them up.
Go to page 13 to see all the tiles based on edition. I have 3rd so used that list. www.bertholdnuechter.homepage.t-online.de/Compendium%20of%20Space%20Hulk%20missions.pdf
Exactly the kind of project I’m looking for! Can you tell me the dimensions of the largest single piece you printed? (at the 130% size) I need to decide on a suitable printer, (don’t own one yet) Many thanks.
@@gaminggeek241 That’s great. Do you know the other dimensions of that same piece roughly? I’m hoping to find a resin printer that can fit all the sections on. I think most small resin printers have print volume around 80 * 120 * 200mm. Thanks for the quick reply. Nick
@@gaminggeek241 Thanks again. You’re right about the resin volume. I just wanted to get the best prints for painting, but maybe sanding, filling will be enough with fdm prints. I saw your Heroquest video. You are going on basically the same journey of nostalgia that I’m going on (but with apparently more time free on your hands than me!) Keep up the excellent work, and thanks for the help. Nick
Justin, have you seen my first video that goes through sizing? If you want to fit 40mm bases, go with 150%, not 170%. th-cam.com/video/FgBxA0Cfznk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=5QQZTM7zTEa4obHC&t=374 Also, at 150% a 5x3 room (one of the largest) is going to need about 225 x 180mm bed to print on.
Go to page 13 to see all the tiles based on edition. I have 3rd so used that list. www.bertholdnuechter.homepage.t-online.de/Compendium%20of%20Space%20Hulk%20missions.pdf
Omg this is so goooood! I would love to replicate what you've done here. Is there a remotely affordable 3d printer you'd recommend for this project? I'm looking to spend 300-500. Once the pandemic is over and in-person games are a thing again, id love to play a narrative game with ya if you'd ever be up for it.
The go-to printer is the Creality Ender 3 which can be had for around $200. You will have to tinker with it though to get the bed flat and everything working correctly. I prefer the Creality Ender 5 with glass bed for $100 more--you still have to tinker but it's a little easier (see my video). My favorite is the Prusa MK3S which is above your price range but pretty much plug and play. Are you in St. Louis?
@@gaminggeek241 Awesome, thanks for the advice. I'll probably aim for the Creality Ender 5. I'm in nyc but Im very willing to travel to you for a game once all this madness is over. Perhaps we can film a batrep or something. I run Space Wolves, Grey Knights, Tau, Tyranids (Hive Fleet Kraken), and Sisters of Battle.
I' m using an Anycubic Mega S. Can up 210x210 (bed frame) tiles printing. Bigger parts can easily divided into smaller pieces (but for this set, the biggest one is just smaller than 200mm, so it will fit). Before you start, take a few (more than only a few) moments in correct leveling. It will lower your frustrating later. And be patient, it will take time (I'm starting my print jobs over night, one piece per day (average) and its a set of 65 pieces (except doors and door frames) for the core set.
