Decades ago I owned a Superbird, and built a nice 426 Hemi for it. Everytime I watch videos like this I wish I could go back in time and run that thing around this track a few times.
It was better when Dale Jarrett had a school at Dega. Once they get to know you and see you can handle the car, they give you some liberties. I got to 184 mph with a different restrictor plate on the car and had an instructor riding shotgun who knew me. Jarrett got into financial problems in 2014 and is out of business.
You'll have to buy your own car then. I'll admit the rev limiter was a pain in the a$$. Pretty sure there are other experiences that allow higher rpm's but guy is in car with you...I was more interested in a solo ride. Video looks slower than it actually was. It was a blast.
Yeah... sounds like a classic Rip-Off Experience. So all drivers can pass on the interstate but explaining "they'll say low, you go high" is just too much?
for that price you can pickup a nice go kart take it to a local oval track and rent some track time, much better experience, even if it isnt a stock car
@@nathanielpreble5108 In all honesty, I could give two sh*ts what you think. Since idiots in the past, who thought they could drive, put cars in the wall going 180, they now have to put governors on the cars at 135-140. Sure it was only 140 mph but the experience was well worth it. Besides that, it was a retirement gift I bought for my dad and he loved it, so that matters a lot more to me than your opinion.
Yep...if you do it, pay the extra and get the 3 session minimum. The 1st session is just getting used to the car which makes the 2nd session more enjoyable but it was over too soon. An extra session would have been perfect
The downside for this one is, since you're by yourself, they put a governor on the rpm's...max'd out around 165 mph I believe. Had a radio with a spotter so about as realistic as it could get but the speed probably wasn't as high as your experience.
What did the certificate you got say you did as far as top speed? According to the video clock starting at 3:38 to 4:51 that was one 2.66 mile lap. The math says you did 131-132mph.
@@gregorygolden1296 You think I don’t know that? It’s not about the money…it’s about the experience and in these days of lawsuits, this is as good as it’s going to get for guys like us. It wasn’t just three laps either hoss, it was groups of 3 laps.
That's great. Early 1900's technology radios.

Ran 60 laps In June 2012 at Dega gut named Lance was my instructor in car let me get up to 181 184 was awesome
I did 20 laps on the Dale Jarrett program about 9 years ago. Did 176mph but I was 68 years old. It was crazier than it looks.
Not being able to flat out would have pissed me off.
totally cool !! i didnt think people could drive solo.
wth... RPM limited to 4800rpms. I wanna see 8500!!!

Looks like we are up to 90 mph. Save your money!
I just googled the prices, what a rip off. RPMs are limited and some prices were $1200-$3500. Dumb

What happens if you crash the car (by accident of course)?
That's what sucks - some puke who screws up in front of you.
This “spotter” is annoying as hell
Boring, not sure what this cost 7 years ago but I’m sure it’s more expensive today to putt around like a grandma on NASCAR’s biggest track!

That's awesome. I did the 8laps at Daytona last year and I'm trying to make it to Talladega, I had a guy riding with me

Damn that sucks lol. Yea I want the full rpms lol, my first time at daytona he almost let me have it all even though its not close to a cup car
You do three sessions you they take rev limiter off for last session.

I wish they let you go faster
Yea, you ain't no where near the speed they say you went.... That's a lot of money for a couple three laps.

Seems kind of lame.
