Hi, i am a Maya user. Anyway to get navigation and hotkeys similar to Maya ? If not. is there any way to change default orbit pivot setting, for example i dont want to rotate from where is my cursor. i want to rotate it from middle of the screen or from object pivot but not from where is my mouse cursor is.
Hey, I used to use alt + 'middle' click to pan in the viewport, but now it no longer works? Any idea? I can still orbit using alt + left click, but I can no longer pan using alt.
Hello, I thank you for posting this tutorial. However, I'm having a problem that I haven't been able to find a solution for. My panning function, for whatever reason, occasionally goes into this "incremental movement" mode. Meaning, while key strokes 2 and 3 work fine, #1 moves incremental in comparison. Even while holding down shift it still moves very slowly. I don't know how to get out of that mode. I can go to another file and it's fine, but when I return, the problem is still there. UPDATE: I found a way to remedy this problem: View -->Frame Default. I still don't know how the problem came about though
i have this same issue but haven't been able to get it fixed. especially the rotating in the view port, it seem to be orbiting around something and it\s not helping my workflow at all
if in windows go to edit>preferences>navigation> and change camera mode to object... hope this help you and others who come here like me :) searching for answers
does just started using this program I've been trained on 3D max but how relevant is this program in the 3D world I mean in the industry today do they still use it still use it
I am looking for custom mouse buttons settings. I'd like to switch rotation, move, zoom, but I did not find configuration inside the preferences settings :/ Could you please someone advise how to do that ?

3:30 - Im sorry to say but that is not right - Unreal Engine does NOT use this hard-style navigation. In Unreal Engine its much much much easier and faster then anything else. Its when you press and keep right mouse button as long as you need to navigate around the whole scene superfast and easy plus use WASD - you know - same as you play the game plus Q and E for up and down. This Cinema 4D navigation comparing to Unreal - honestly Cinema 4D pissing Me off and makes Me angry every time when I am using Cinema 4D - really it is so hard to navigate. Why it is not so easy like game engine like Unreal Engine - I do not understand.

you can use the buttons 1,2, and 3if you hold the buttons and hold left click

If you have a heavy scene loaded, there could be a slight delay before viewer moves, always tricks me into thinking I've hit the wrong key.

I think you can check your mouse driver program and see if the middle mouse button has been replaced by other.

you can zoom to any selected object in viewport by pressing "O"

I don't how I rotate the Perspective View, I mean not just a camera movement like middle mouse button, but actually the view. How can I rotate back?
I found the solution, right click and drag on the rotate icon :)
should be able to hold alt+left click too for "orbit"
Does Not WOrk. It literally just orbits around some arbitrary point and I can't figure out how to orbit around an element. So frustrating.

This is not helpful if you are on a MacBook with no right button
