    I appreciate that you took the time to make these videos. I have found many games I missed in these English-friendly videos and some of them are now among my favorites. Sometimes the SNES catalog seems endless, to me at least :)

    About Dezaemon:
    The game you've shown is actually just the example game in the cartridge. It's actually a game creation toolkit, similar to the RPG Tsukuru (Maker) series. Making your own ship is not the only feature, you can also edit every other sprite or tile in the game, the music editor actually allows you to edit (or completely rewrite) the in game music, it also has a level editor along with a title screen editor. There are also Dezaemon "games" on the NES, N64, and other consoles.

    If you don't know that much Kanji but Hiragana and Katakana, a lot of Super Famicom games are still playable because a lot of them don't even have Kanji!! You see, because of severe memory limitations on a cartridge, a lot of cartridge based games including Super Famicom games don't have Kanji Characters in their Font Code. Because Japanese can be written completely with Hiragana and Katakana, some game developers at the time decided to skip using Kanji in exchange for more memory space for other things like more Sprites, Music, Programming Code Space, etc. One example is the Japanese version of Yoshi's Island on Super Famicom, and I believe the Goemon Games.

    Adding an english patch via emulation is super easy, free and the best way to play Japanese only super famicom games. That is if you aren't morally opposed to emulating.

    I own Dezaemon via the Playstation Network, for the PS1. It took me a little while to learn but it's worth learning! Much like how the RPG Maker is on the PS One.

    Dezaemon is one of the best games out there. It's what helped me become a video game maker to this day. I'm going to be soon work on a title I've wanted to work on that I originally created on Dezaemon called Robo Knight. Definitely do some stuff more on this game, it is pretty awesome and there's many of these in the series

    I was actually playing Mario & Wario today, it's an easy purchase (like a $10 cart) and makes fantastic use of the SNES mouse (main reason I bought it). In a lot of ways it reminds me of the Mario Vs Donkey Kong games and I would consider it a spiritual precursor. Also hell yeah. Clock Tower.

    The video and the idea behind it are great. But what's the point in mentioning flash cards then? I thought this video is about english friendly super famicom games? Every famicom game can be translated and put on a flash card.
    I love the video anyway.

    • @SNESdrunk
      @SNESdrunk  10 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Because nobody's bothered to translate a lot of these games, there's no need to. The RPGs and adventure games have been, but there's no English patch for stuff like Macross Scrambled Valkyrie or Psycho Dream, hence why I'm pointing them out lest they get lost in the shuffle.

    • @shifterx
      @shifterx 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Joshua Miller The translation isnt the only problem. The port suffers from some horrible technical issues and serious slowdown during battles. Its just a mess, to the point of being unplayable.
