  • This year we planted ProCut orange seeds and a variety of other sunflowers. We're saving seeds from our favorite sunflower varieties, and we're also going to try to harvest some of the procut seeds to see what we get next season. Stay tuned!

Smart move. Have saved seeds for over 10 years now. Easy and fun to start grow in the winter months.

I love experimenting. Just because they say you can't doesn't mean you shouldn't try. May not get what you want but could be wonderful just the same!

I'll be watching- curious to see what you end up with!

I'm so interested to see the result of this. I wonder how they breed and harvest them to start out with. With seedless watermelons you always have a "pollinator' variety... I have hesitated buying them due to cost and not being able to seed save.

Did it work? I have some gorgeous procuts that I’d love to have more next year.

I’m really curious to see the results. Last season 2022 I grew some Procut Plum from Johnnys for a wedding. I let one stem go to seed and got about 50 plump seeds. I had one random sunflower that grew about 4’ away that was completely different. Only about 2’ tall, but 7” across. I got hundreds of seeds from that one head. They only other sunflowers I was growing were Chocolate Cherry. So I have no idea where this huge one came from (unless it was from bird feed that was near by). I’m super excited to see how the seed turns out from these couple plants 🌻😊

We were slow/late getting that seed in the ground last year, but here was the result: th-cam.com/video/pQEtt5BaOhU/w-d-xo.html

When I put out my window screen to dry my seeds the birds ate everyone of them . I put a second screen over them and didn't have that problem anymore.

So, where do pro cut seeds for sale come from? Yes, a link to results would be nice…found your channel googling this question. Will take a look around your channel. Thanks!

@@WoodsTreeFarm lol, I mean where do the seeds to sell come from if you can’t save the seed, so that they come true. Yes, I know where to purchase the seeds. If you need to rely on other sunflowers with pollen and bees to spread that, oh well, it is probably a big sunflower secret lol.

@@leonardsfriend5821 My understanding is they are originally hybridized (combining 2 varieties) to create this variety.

The birds are going to like your drying method. Maybe one day you will go out to move an empty screen inside, be careful.
