RECIPE: GRILLED SUNFLOWER HEAD
(for up to 4 large sunflowers)
2 cloves of garlic
1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
1 cup of grated parmesan
2 TB of dried thyme
1. Lightly smash the cloves of garlic (leaving them intact) and place them in a small saucepan with the olive oil. Heat on low for 10-15 minutes, making sure the garlic doesn't burn. We just want the flavor to infuse the oil. The garlic will soften and turn a light brown. You can discard it (or save it, like I do, to use in other recipes!). Set oil aside.
2. Prepare the sunflowers by removing the flower parts to expose the seeds.
3. Brush the olive oil liberally over the sunflower head.
4. Grill on the bbq for 8-10 minutes over medium heat (350 degrees), until the sunflower seeds look toasted but not burnt.
5. Remove from the grill and smear liberally with grated cheese and thyme. - แนวปฏิบัติและการใช้ชีวิต
Well I definitely would never have thought of that but then who knows ?
Wow, sounds delicious! I love trying new things
I cant believe I mist this video. What an education
I want to try that! looks like quite an interesting way to eat flowers... Thank you very much ❤
Gosh that sounds so interesting 🤔 the way you describe the taste . I hope to try this one of our summer bbq days this year :)
Thanks for sharing Nicole :)
Something new that I never knew. Thank you for sharing Nicole. XOXO
Thanks for sharing our farm with your audience. Early morning when it is just myself and the crew it is the most magical and it was great to be abke to capture and share a little of that experience.
How often do you fire up your grill and cook up a tender, juicy, sunflower head?
Norm, it's always magic with you and the crew in your abundant fields! Thank you for letting us tag along.
I love sunflowers ! 🌻🌻🌻😍
Excited that you are from Philly!
It's been long since I first followed your channel for studying english. I was a university student back there, now I'm almost 30. Still love your accent and video content. ❤
Nice to see you....thank you for new sunflower recipe ❤
My pleasure 😊
I freakin love this channel. Wonderful video and thanks for teaching me something today!
Thanks for watching!
Sounds delicious 😋
Thank you, that's amazing. Do you remember we chatted about the Barry's Crazy Cherry tomato? Well, it is a yes from me, and I will most certainly be growing it again. I can n ot believe how many are on one truss!
Yes! Mine just started to ripen about a week ago, and the plant is LADEN with them!
@@TrueFoodTV Good to hear
Fascinating.
This is hilarious I have to try it!! Hopefully the sunflowers I'm growing right now are the edible kind.
🎉 thanks!
Wow! Who would have ever thought of that! Thanks Nicole for your amazing videos! ;-)
ok, this is something i wouldn't have expected to be edible whole....
Thank you beautiful and delicious 😋 ❤
I just harvested mine but they are too "ripe". I will have to try this next time. I've never seen such a thing.
I never even heard of such. But, resembles a large portobello. But I like sunflower seeds, why not?
Theres Mepkin Abbey Monastery on other side of Moncks Corner in SC, where they devoted themselves to growing oyster mushrooms. If you ever go the mushroom avenue. A Lebanese brother fixed a smothered portobello, it was delicious! He used to be a master chef at 5 star hotels. Then a shrimp creole just as good as if made in Louisiana.
Thank you ❤❤❤❤
Thank YOU for watching!

I've seen grilled sunflowers treated like Mexican street corn; mayo, cheese, seasoning from carts.
I had no idea you can grill sunflowers or cook them for that matter.
Love this! But it would take me forever because I’d be removing each petal one by one saying, “she loves me, she loves me not, she loves me…” 😆 🌻
😂😂😂 same!!!
What is that amazing song used as soundtrack on this video?
ok i had to shazam it because it's just so good, it's golden things by kylie dailey.
great music choice.
Hey! I want some sunflower head 😮😏
I had to double check it wasn't April 1st
Ha! Not this time.
I love sunflower 🌻 and feeling bad for that plant😢
Unpopular opinion here, but I would do without the cheese, simply because I don't like the taste. Otherwise, looks great!
Absolutely make it your own! 🙌
Professional cameraman
Ive never heard of grilling a sunflower before. Here's a question... Have you heard of a Teddybear Sunflower? They are awesome in person!
Yes, I have -- and you're right, they're gorgeous!!!
🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽😃😃
It looks like honeycomb.
What’s the song?
ok i had to shazam it because it's just so good, it's golden things by kylie dailey.
Is this another prank video like the superfood one? Even if it isn't, I couldn't see myself cooking up a sunflower on my BBQ :b.
Kevin of Epic gardening also did it a year ago but with no cheese. It helps if you slice before eating
@@Hiyaaydi Good to know! However, I'm going to allow the resident finches in my backyard to eat my sunflower seeds like they do every year.
Cuts away everytime she takes a bite. She did not like it.
Not a joke. Yummies. Try it
You are cute too
you are the monster
So fake. This is clearly the first time she tried eating sunflower head. It’s not delicious. I tried making it last year. Everytime she takes a bite, they cut away. Shame on you.
Here is the video content in 5 seconds rather than 200 or whaever.Remove all of the flowers and non shell material until only the edible pre-hardshell seeds remain. Season and grill.
