- We Created the Ultimate Porsche engine! But which should you begin with? Should we mod the iconic Porsche GT3, or the Amazing Porsche 911 Turbo? Then Which is cooler? Please continue producing your fantastic videos! They are so educational from the Porsche meister himself. I have a build going on right now. The first one, done years ago, was a 6 speed 997.1 turbo. The car is unbelievably scary fast and still performs flawlessly today. My current project is a 997 turbo tip that I picked up used. It will be a 4.1L stoker with GT3 intake and TiAL Xona turbos. The potential for this project is truly mind-boggling. One can only imagine... There have been substantial performance improvements since my original build. I can understand how one might feel nervous with these types of conversions but my mind is totally at easy working with Todd. You not only get the best in the business but he's with you before, during, and after the build.
Too fun! We do plan on continuing producing these as we can. It's awesome to hear the best testamonials! We're so glad to share your passion for these amazing cars 🙂
Ballpark, what would it cost to do that if you were provided a decent full O.E. 997.2 gt3? We talk 100k and up right. For everything to make it a safe balanced car.
@@gregoryfranks7347 yup, and then some with the current economy... Starting from a turbo is better so you don't need to do bodywork and you end up with 4wd that'll hold the power a lot better.

I have a tuned 996tt x50 with some GT3 bits that I love. It’s mostly for driving Ky backroads.

A turbo GT3 is waaaaay cooler than a modded turbo model.
But yes it makes more sense to mod the turbo model.

Good info, can we get the smoke detector battery changed before part two though?
Thanks! Those damn things are 10 year non-serviceable detectors that are overly sensitive to the fab room dust and exhaust smoke. No batteries to change! I originally filmed this whole series in the dyno room inside my dot 2 997 turbo Frankenstein build for great sound. But it didn't come out great so we re filmed and caught some of that :( will try to fix that though! It can be annoying to sensitive ears!

I'm sure they'll revoke mypca membership but what about a flat 6 power Carrera GT finding one with a blown motor and put in a large protomotive 4.2 L build in a Carrera GT I know you have to have the 5.2 liter to get the Epic exhaust note I of course fully understand it it's a flat no turn it would have to you know a crazy amount of work would have to be done but just the idea of it tickles my pickle😮
As long as time and money is no object those are really fun projects. But when limited on either they get stressful on everyone. To get the sound back close you could do a 6 into 2 into 1 exhaust and it would be a screamer! But twin turboing the cgt is also something to consider on a blown engine since you'd be replacing pistons, rods and probably sleeving the block anyhow. Then there just two audi me7.1.1 dmes to tune.... But yeah, that's time and $ is no object kinda stuff too....
oh thats no question. you have the abilty im sure its just finding someone willing to give unlimited access. you cant quote a price because things will always come up knowing exactly what will happen due to nevr being done before. as usual Todd great content, i watch every single video and even short(i HATE shorts) and they are always excellent just like the reputation you have, excellent. as always thanks for taking the time to msg your fans. its so cool to know i talked to the real Todd Knighton the mega porsche builder. very very cool. cheers@@protomotive

Fun to think about, but the tricky bit here would be getting an opposed engine into an engine bay designed for a V engine. Our beloved flat 6 has some big hips 😂
911's are the only big hips i adore, just me. you are definately right it would take some magic dust and a shit ton of money. lol@@BlackForestRacing
