The arrangements, their voices, harmonies and sound engineering are outstanding. I studied music, played sax, flute and clarinet. They're candy for my ears.
IMHO, Pentatonix is simply a master's class on vocal excellence. They demonstrate perfectly tone, placement, blend, interpretation, prime unison, everything that makes something they touch simply golden. Equally important, there is only a dominant voice WHEN it is appropriate; otherwise everyone is sensitive to the other people and their parts, and do not oversing it. This should be #VocalGoals for ANY singer doing solo work, but especially those looking to be part of a vocal group wanting to do good/great things.
I really like their rendition of Dreams too!! Their entire album was so good!! Also they just came out with Mad World and OMG that was soo good. Please, please, please check that one out!

I agree. When there is something so amazingly good you just want to grab hold and squeeze so tight and NEVER let go and scream to the top of your lungs for as long as you can until you are utterly spent. PTX does it every time for me. I love your assessments and your professional point of view. And yes, I do hear all the musical things going on in their songs. I have been in music since grade school, played trumpet in high school band and sang in concert choirs, picked up the guitar in my teens and now, in my 60's, play in our church band. But I never even THOUGHT that a human voice could do what these folks can do. Just AMAIZING !!
I respectfully disagree. "Imagine" has been done to death and it's really the only one of their covers that just isn't necessary. I even like "Hallelujah" and "Mad World" but there was no way to add anything to "Imagine" and they didn't. This is one that hasn't been done very much at all and they absolutely kill it. Tara would be subtly disappointed if she went from this to "Imagine".
@@Nostaljack I would offer that you are in the minority in that opinion. They 100% did add to Imagine. How do you ignore the 5 parts that come together into a major unison?

I feel out to them too and many people around me don't like their music, and I'm shocked by it because the precision they have is undeniable and the arrangements, I mean they did Bohemian Rhapsody. That alone is a hard song and they did it a capella, they get so much credit but they deserve so much more. Btw I am on my way to becoming a vocal coach just like you and we have talked on Instagram a little but had to comment because you have given me so much knowledge and I will forever be greatful that I learn from you. Hi, if you haven't heard Dir En Grey yet you are really missing out. The vocalist is unbelievable & so is the band. They are a Japanese band & they are amazing. I'd love it if you would consider reacting to Dir en Grey - Vinushka [ANDROGYNOUS a view of the Acro ], it's live in Japan & is one of the best performances I ever seen & I guarantee you won't be disappointed, also you don't need eng subs to understand what the song is about, there is a screen behind the band with visuals so it's easy to figure it out. Also you don't need to worry about getting a copywrite strike on this video. Kyo is definitely one of the best vocalist in the world & you really should hear him. I hope you'll react to it someday.
This performance was just heavenly. I am at watching it a few weeks back with her vocal coach reactor who didn’t even recognize the song. As someone who was a teen in the 90s that did not compute… I mean, no matter when you were born… Isn’t it a classic? Anyway… It was perfect.
I used to think I didn't like dissonance. Turns out I didn't like BAD dissonance. :o) When it is done well, it is heavenly. Pentantonix does it well (as does Home Free, Voctive, Voiceplay). :o) Lovely, crunchy sounds from all of them.
