Yes-I would love a video on organizing paper copies too. Better yet, can you just do it for me? 😂 thank you for being a rockstar! Your videos are priceless.
Hi Michelle! I had fallen off the wagon in keeping up in watching your amazingly informative videos due to my own lowered morale in teaching and slow burnout. But I’m back again and hoping you’re doing well settling in your new home with hubby. So proud of you how you took control of your career and adjusted accordingly. Wish you continued success and growth! Thank you for always sharing new content. I always learn so much, especially with the digital programs.
Aww, thank you so much for coming back and rejoining me Charlaine! I completely understand but I'm also happy to hear you are back! Thank you for all your kind words and support! 🥰🖤 I appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment!
This video was super helpful (as usual)! You and Bridget have helped me tremendously over the years! I've been an educator, both in and out of the classroom, for almost 30 years, and there has never been a dull moment! Thank you for helping me keep my tech learning current. Tech is definitely not my primary language!
Love this! When you posted your tips on cleaning out your Google Drive video a couple of years back, I took the entire summer to clean and organize my hot mess express Google Drive little by little each day. I colored coded and numbered because like you, I want things in a specific order since I am so type A. While I have everything organized by unit and then within the units have the different parts of the unit broken down, I have never organized those folders even further by homework, activities etc. This video inspired me to do just that this coming week since I am on vacation for winter break. Organizing brings me joy and so do your organizing videos. Thank you for once again teaching me something new! I can't wait for next week! (PS. I submitted an organizational problem to your website! I can't WAIT for that series!)
Aww, thank you so much as ALWAYS! I love reading your comment every week 🥰 I'm so happy you were able to use those tips and tricks to get your Google Drive all organize and I'm sure you feel so much better now! I'd love to see what changes you make after this video to make it even more accessible for you and easy to use moving forward. Thank you as always for all your support 🖤🖤🖤 You rock!
Very nice! Within my unit folder, I like to make each subfolder for a specific lesson so that everything I need for that lesson is in one folder. I totally learned the numbering and color coding from one of your earlier videos! Thanks!
Yes! I've done that in the past, but I found that some lessons had lots of materials and others had far less (some materials would also carry over from lesson to lesson). It's all about finding what works best for you and your curriculum! Thank you for watching and commenting Laurie! 🥰🖤
Thank you so much for your ideas. I always find each of them so helpful. I love notes and how you can scan and store important documents. Because of you, I finally have a good system to storing documents on Google. I really appreciate you.
Aww, that's so sweet of you Nellie! 🥰 I appreciate your support as always and I'm so happy you've been able to put the content to good use with your systems! That's perfect! 🖤
Thank you so much Michelle! You and Bridgette have helped me a ton with organization over the years…I’ve been teaching for 30 and prior to finding you guys, organizing was not my strength. I would love a video on organizing the physical as well. Thank you, thank you!
Aww, that's so great to hear Suzanne! 🥰 I appreciate you watching, commenting, and sharing all your kind words! We are happy you've been able to learn from our content so thank you right back! 🖤
I LOVE organization, so this was right up my alley. I feel like my digital files are much better than my filing cabinet at school. I use Google Drive for personal files and Microsoft One Drive for school since our whole county uses the Office suite of products. I really enjoyed the tips in this video and will use it to clean up the digital files and keep them in shape! I would love to see a video about paper file organization, as you mentioned. It will definitely be a big project for me that I will need to break down into smaller tasks. I have been at my current school for five years, but I taught a split class for second and third grade my first year here and had an abundance of files! Thanks for an amazing video, as always! I really needed some solid advice after a crazy Valentine's Day week at school! Thanks, Michelle! 💗
Mandy... your comments always bring a huge smile to my face! 🥰 I'm so happy you enjoyed it and appreciate your feedback as always! You are so right that going through all those files will be a huge project that you have to tackle a little at a time, but you will definitely feel a big sense of relief as you get little bits done. Thank you for watching and commenting every week... you're the best! 🖤🖤🖤
Your videos are always so helpful! Thank you very much for sharing all your fantastic ideas. Yes, I would love a future video on how to organized the physical things. Thanks for being so awesome! 😊
This video just inspired me to organize my digital files!! Thank you! I’m also interested in physical file organization for sure. I’m overwhelmed in that department haha!
Thank you so much! Some great ideas! I also use file names that automatically alphabetize in Unit order. I have taught Algebra 1, Algebra 2, and PreCalc. So every file starts with A1, A2, or PC, then U and the unit number. So for my fifth precalc unit, all files would start with PCU5, then the lesson number that the different files are associated with. So the notes file for the third lesson that I taught on Friday is labeled PCU5 N03 Ambiguous Case. This also helps my students find the files that I share with them and associate them with particular lessons on the calendar. I definitely use unit and course folders, so hopefully everything within the same folder has the same initial file name…
Thank you so much for watching and commenting Lou Ann! 🥰 I think that's a great way to organize it! That's what is so great about organization... there are so many systems you can use and just have to find the one that works best for you! It sounds like you've found that which is fantastic! Thanks for sharing!
Would you do a segment on Hyberdocs? If you have one already would you repost it, please. Thanks a million. Love your videos - very easy to follow and understand. You are a blessing.
This was a wonderful wealth of information!! Thank you so much. I would love to know how you organize your physical stuff. I teacher PreK & next year I will be in Kindergarten- I want to start the new grade super organized!!
Love your videos! Do you have a suggestion for all the "stuff" that ended up in my drive from having to share and co-teach during Covid teaching? I have tons and tons of assignments because we had to make each other on the team co-teachers. Every google assignment my co-worker assigned shows up in my drive. I think he should have archived these classes and that would have helped but I'm not sure. Many thanks!
Great video. I am wondering what to do with my secondary ELA units. The files just go on and on when it comes to literature circles. It’s so overwhelming more so I think that math where math has cut and dry units. You definitely have my gears turning trying to come up with a solution. As always, keep your helpful videos coming. Thanks Michelle!
Thank you so much for watching and commenting Haylee! When it comes to organizing ELA units, you can categorize them by standard or by genre... really, there is no right or wrong way but those are just a few ideas! 🖤
Hi Michelle. Yes a paper organisation would be lovely to watch. A question on digital organisation: I have just begun teaching and have collected several (a few hundred or so eek😮) resources over my student teaching years for several grades and subjects. I don’t want to delete all of these as they might come in handy as I start planning my units this year and for if I switch grade levels. So my question then is would you keep these in a totally seperate folder or try and put it within units? Some resources are from tpt and cover multiple grades or are a 2-3 different units bundled together. Looking forward to hearing from you and thanks again for all the great advice B❤
Hi Michelle, I’m wondering about how to quickly delete all the literally THOUSANDS of student work files that are on my Google Drive from the online teaching days. Do you know a quick an efficient solution for this?
In case no one has mentioned it - you can actually scan a physical paper document straight into your Google Drive. That works with Android or Apple and takes out the steps of having to move it where you want it within your Drive folders ;)
I have enjoyed finding your videos and watching them! I have so many google files from virtual teaching and from 'shared with me' files throughout the years. Is there a way to delete these in bulk? It has started to take up so much digital space. I am not getting much help from IT. Thanks!
Thank you! You inspired me in another video to finally organize my Google Drive and now it’s so much easier to find the things that I need. I am interested in how you organized paper files. I have tried binders this year which I think is pretty good but not great. Any suggestions?
Aww, thank you so much Misha! I'm so happy you were able to get your Drive organized and I appreciate the feedback on paper files. I tried filing cabinets and I tried binders... neither of which I loved. I did have binders for some files but I preferred to have drawers with the papers I needed for each unit but I'll definitely add it to my video list to make for the future!
Hi Michelle! Is the kingdom of gallon resource on your tpt? And if you didn't create it, is there a link to purchase it from. BTW I love you videos so much.
Michelle, my drive is a mess. I love this video. Part of the mess is all of the assignments I have assigned in google classroom that students have turned in and I have opened to grade. I have 148 students. How do I clean up those?
Aww, thank you for watching and commenting Kim! I'm so happy it was helpful for you! The student assignments generated from making copies in Google Classroom should automatically be placed in a "Classroom" folder within your Google Drive. If they are appearing in your main Drive, that means you probably accidentally deleted the "Classroom" folder.
Hi- have you thought about putting together a video on how to best organize tpt purchases within google drive? Our school district has blocked TPT on our school computers (boo). I have so many purchases I am overwhelmed how to organize and store so I can still access them via work computer (they haven't blocked us having it on google drive) I have searched for someone with this idea, but it is just tpt sellers way of organizing their store.
Hi Heather! Do you mean the student assignments? They should be automatically placed in a "Classroom" folder in your Drive unless that folder has been deleted (in that case, they show up in your main Drive).
Thanks for the video. I'm not a teacher, but the organization strategy was helpful. PS: Are your eyebrows painted on? I'll bet you are even prettier without the paint.
I'm having trouble getting access to your UNIT PLAN freebie so that I can organize my unit. When I subscribe, I dont receive anything. I even tried to go to tpt and buy one, but couldn't find it. Help!
So, I am organizing things and I’m running into the Teacher’s Guilt of “what if I need it some day?” I realize that during the “panorama”, I was a new teacher and so many kind and generous teachers on social media and at work shared freebies to help us all survive Distance Learning. I have so many files now , but I’m hesitant to get rid of anything because I am low key digital hoarder? Lol. How would you go about navigating that and purging your Google Drive?
I totally understand that mindset and I have struggled with that as well! One thing you could try is putting all the files into a main folder and as you actually use them, you can organize them into a subject folder or unit folder. Then, at the end of the year, any files left in the main folder that haven't been moved can be trashed. At the end of the day, those files just create clutter that is unnecessary just like clutter we have around our house or clothes in our closet that we aren't wearing. Hopefully that's helpful for you!
Yes-I would love a video on organizing paper copies too. Better yet, can you just do it for me? 😂 thank you for being a rockstar! Your videos are priceless.
HAHA, I totally would if I could Karen! 😂 Thank you for watching, commenting, and providing your feedback! 🖤

When you make copies for students in GC , is there a fast way to delete those quick?
