I will also show plenty of footage comparing them in different light conditions to help choose the correct color mode for the right situation. Yes, I'm interested in what video editor and LUT were applied to the D-Log. Yes, I'd love to see the color grading of Air 2S D-Log / HLG in DaVinci Resolve 17. I wonder why you'd use a LUT in HLG, or where you get it from...does it just reduce the saturation a bit? I see a lot of people selling their own LUTs, and wonder how they make them and why I'd buy one, vs. download from DJI or BlackMagicDesign.

    Thanks again for this comparison. I have been getting great results with both Dlog and HLG but I do have some difficulty deciding which to use and which situation works best for the the profile. I love to do sunrise videos over the lake since it is easy to access in my neighborhood. With my experience, I do get better dynamic range while looking directly into the sun in HLG mode. I also think that HLG looks great right out of the camera but may just need a touch of contrast and saturation. In good lighting conditions, I will reach for Dlog which allows me more opportunity to play with color creativity when needed. Your Sicily videos are among the best for drone testing because of the geat colors and landscape variety. Is your reason for preferring HLG similar to mine? Also, I'd love to see a detailed color grade/correction tutorial, preferably on DaVinci Resolve. Keep up the great content my friend!

      Many thanks Harry,
      I use HLG in all situations: it gives excellent results against the sun and practically in all conditions. The great colors of the 2S are very well maintained and my workflow is much faster. Maybe is in part due to the fact that the LUTs I use are particoularly suited to HLG.
      With DLOG, I occasionally get very good result, but in most case I fail to match the same quality. Also I have to put much more work in color correcting

    • @hdemetri
      @hdemetri 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@VICVideopIC Thanks for the feedback. I am yet to find a good LUT for HLG but a simple manual grading seems to work really well in most situations. You can see my videos on my page. The last few sets of DLOG vs HLG shorts all said 'HLG' ... can I Assume the first run of each comparison was DLOG, and the second run was HLG? If so, the HLG versions seemed a bit oversaturated (at least when viewing on TH-cam.)

    I would also like to see how are you process and color grade your footage.
    Also on this video you said you were going to talk about which profile works better in which situation.
    And you did give us a few samples but you didn’t really show the comparison.
    I’d like to see what the footage looked like out of camera, and the processed version, and why are you thought one profile worked for that lighting condition compared to the other. It’s kind of hard to judge just seeing a piece of finished video without a comparison to what it look like before and a comparison to the other profile.

    I love your movies. They are very factual and understandable. Meet the conditions of good comparisons and show the differences well. In this case, Hybryd Log Gamma looks better for me. It's a bit over-colored but that's a matter of taste. As for me, it is close to ideal. What I would do is less saturation and more light in shadows 😊😊😊 In shots against the sun is really impressive. I have a basic question about this, which everybody needs to know the answer to - how to expose the scenes filmed in hgl ???? Do you have any good way to preserve the hilights and shadows??? For me when I turned it on it looked very overexposed and with to much contrast. Please record video about it how to properly expose scenes shot in Hybrid Log Gamma. Perhaps you could also say something also about the D-Log parameters ...? And we definitely ask for the HGL coloring tutorial for this image. Thank you for your videos and professional approach. Best wishes!!!

    • @VICVideopIC
      @VICVideopIC  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is true,
      the light was horrible and I had to increase contrast a lot. In this case the saturation increases a good deal.
      I thought about reducing the saturation of the sea and the sky, but at the end I decided that I quite liked it, although it is not very natural
