ICD-10-CM: New guidelines for 2025

ICD-10-CM changes are coming soon! The 2025 changes are effective October 1, 2024. The changes here are for the coding guidelines; the code changes are discussed in a separate video.
The guideline changes include changes to sepsis coding, COVID-19, malignancy coding, new codes for diabetes mellitus, glaucoma, myocardial infarctions, and Z codes.
Be sure to become familiar with these changes before the October 1, start date so you can hit the ground running!

Does the "Presymptomatic" diabetes mellitus codes take the place of the Prediabetes code?

Good question. No. Code R73.03 prediabetes is still in the book. The presymptomatic code is a new code.
