    Hi Vanessa, I'm so glad your port is removed, huraay! I have my port for 9 years, it's still good, I have my chemo every 2 weeks. It's miracle I'm still living for 9 years. I have had stage 4 colon cancer, I'm 53 years old. I'm strong, positive and happy woman. That's what keeps me going after what I have been going through. Vanessa you are beautiful, strong woman. The make ups you do on you is so beautiful on you. You have nice family and kids. Thank you for sharing your videos with us. I wish for you the most important health and all the happiness and Blessings for your 👪. Angela from America 🤗

    Hi
    I'm happy to hear that you had a problem-free procedure. Wishing you a healthy life.
    I've had this procedure done multiple times. I'm having it done again soon. I am experiencing severe anxiety. The last time was traumatic. The Dr had to discontinue the procedure because I was in intolerable pain. The removal had to be done in the OR.

      Feb 6 2024. Port removal worse part of cancer experience. I almost came off the procedure table to yell at them to stop. I never met the doctor until after removal. No topical numbing med applied, "not in our protocol."

    Hi! I just found your channel! My husband was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer in June 2022 and he is now going through chemotherapy then radiation then surgery after!! Thanks for all your info and putting yourself out there!! I’m trying to understand everything he’s going through and be as helpful as I can!!

      I pray all is well with your husband. I’m a stage 3 colon cancer survivor. I went through radiation and chemotherapy at City Of Hope. I had my port removed yesterday. Tell your husband to drink plenty of water. He can do it.

    Congrats I hope you never have to deal with cancer again. Although I feel that cancer fundamentally changes a person and there’s always some level of worry because of the nature of the disease.
    Live your life enjoy your life every moment . I’m sure you know this after going through this experience.
    I wish I could be cured of stupid cancer. I’m young with stage 4 net cancer and just finished a last PRRT treatment going through side effects. It’s very hard but the treatment is working for me can’t wait to recover although I will have to deal with cancer for the remainder of my life. I wish I could be healthy again but have to accept.
    Thanks for sharing your journey

      Colon cancer doesn't always come back, typically for Stage 1 depending on which country but overall have about a 0-5% chance of it coming back Stage 2 is overall 12% of it coming back and Stage 3 with the highest with about 25% chance of it coming back. Unfortunately the nature of how colon cancer comes back a lot of people try and move on with their lives and put it behind them and stop going to oncologist appts and getting screened every year so they catch the recurrence when its late in the game.

    I had to get a venous port after getting Lyme carditis from a tick bite. I’ve had the port for almost 8 years and hoping to get it out soon. Feeling a little nervous about the removal, I did a TH-cam search and stumbled onto your video. I feel much better after seeing your experience. ❤

I developed a bleeding disorder as a wonderful side effect of my cancer, so it has been an adventure with my port for sure. 🙄🤦🏼‍♀️ I also have a PICC🤦🏼‍♀️ How exciting for you and your family to be moving on from such a hard time. yay for port out!! tell us more about your job, i don't think you mentioned it?

  • @federalnoise
    @federalnoise 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi Vanessa, that's great news. It is unlikely your dermatologist has had time to mention that those scars can be erased, or made to look a lot less pronounced. Sometimes a 0.5mm dermaroller is used for this. Once the incision has healed properly, it can be rolled, with a dermaroller to promote collagen in the scar area, and basically, over time, should get rid of any scar, hopefully. Thankyou for sharing your story.
