Another crazy theory: Riley has male and female emotions because Inside Out is still a kid movie and children would get bored if the main characters (in this case emotions) were all boys/girls. 😮
I don't think this is saying "she HAS" to be lgbt because of this. The theory started because she had both male and female emotions, and then they are looking at tratis that usually are or that could be associated to a lgbt character in a movie

as a person in the lgbtq community i’m here to make a few points hockey is for everyone riley can be used for both genders, but she’s literally a girl, her name doesn’t mean anything. her people representing her emotions are mixed because she’s a main character and the movie circulates around HER mind, and it needs variety in order to keep the watchers attention edit: why y’all pressed.
the last point: sure, that makes sense for why the creators wanted to make them like that outside the world of the film but in the film how do you explain that? you can't put something in without explaining it within the story (i mean you can, but an explanation would be nice)
There are 2 main spellings for Riley: R-I-L-E-Y R-Y-L-E-E The latter doesn't get used as often as it should. I once played a two-part dating sim, where in the second game one love interest was a boy with the former spelling, while in the first game it was a girl with the latter spelling.
@@catapultato1733 idk prolly bc it’s a kids movie and ppl don’t rlly care, when it came out i was still kinda a kid and the thought crosses my mind but i figured bc she’s the main character, things needed to be different.
Thinking Riley is gender neutral cause of the mixed genders in the emotions is a good theory but calling her gay/trans just cause she likes hockey is WILD 💀
even the emotions thing is a stretch imo, they're just that way instead of being uniform like her parents' because they're the main characters and important characters get their own designs. this is like making up a theory based on why every main character in a movie has colourful designs and hair while the background characters get the same boring design - there's no in universe explanation, it's just that there's more focus on important characters. (i'm not against her being nonbinary, it'd be really cool if done well! just... that kind of a bullshit reason to speculate this lmao)
Gender neutral doesn't exist. There is no limits to being a girl or a boy besides biological. A girl who's interested in feminine AND masculine or just masculine things doesn't make her less of a girl than one who's only into feminine things. That's very sexist.
Like I enjoy when a movie does have gay characters in it but straight characters are really cute as well making me go feral for some of those straight ships ong
Ikr people are so dumb these days. Riley is not gender neutral. In the move people litterally say “she” to her and when Riley meets a boy in the end of the move, it litterally says “GIRL”
I’m pretty sure the only reason why Riley has both male and female emotions is because the producers wanted boys to like the movie too. If they only did female emotions then their movie wouldn’t be as welcoming to males or popular
Fear and Anger didn’t have huge roles in the first movie, just were there as supporting characters. Didn’t really seem to matter. That idea is just boring AF too. News flash: It’s 2023. People over the age of 5 don’t care what gender the protagonists are.
I support the lgbt movement but I totally dont care about any of the characters gender atm. Whats important is how the movie would deliver the new emotions and how they handle it. It means a lot to me that they succeed in that aspect since emotions are the KEY theme to the movie. Sure, loving someone else instead of the standard that society has set will bring a lot of emotions... but I want it to go a direction where it focuses on ALL teenagers... not just the minority of them. They can add a gay side character as Rikeys friend, I wouldnt mind... just keep riley more relatable to a large audience please. I love what inside out 1 did, dont disappoint us pixar

That’s just the supporting evidence, the BIGGEST piece of evidence is the fact that her emotions are a mix of male and female, implying that she might be both, and be bigender. Those two supporting evidence are weak imo, but her emotions being mixed while her parents’ emotions are the only one gender, would imply that Riley is different from them gender wise in some way.
Well sadly in today's world, being a tomboy technically means you're "trans". Those types of people are the exact reason why young kids these days are having "gender dysphoria".
@V3veDaAnnoying exactly!!! Like Bruh!! I’m a major tomboy but I’m straight and its sad that people today think that I’m a “lesbian” I swear this type of stuff is pushing the woke agenda to children it’s the same thing as colonialism
Riley has emotions of both genders at this point because she hasn't hit puberty yet. There's no need to sexualize everything. This is a movie about a kid FFS.
Guys :/ riley is non-bionary cuz all the female characters have female emotions and all the male characters have male emotions, and Riley has a mix of both
As a queer person, this “evidence” is really pushing it. The idea of Riley possibly struggling with her gender identity due to the mixed emotions in her brain is actually a pretty fair idea. But to suggest that she might be queer because she likes hockey (as if her parents didn’t skate and play hockey with her since childhood) is actually wild. Also, even if she does identify as something else besides a girl in the second movie, that doesn’t necessarily make her gay too 😭
I can definitely see with the mixed gender emotions because every other head clearly has the emotions of what they identify with and were born with. Such as the parents and the one kid. But the hockey thing is a stretch 😂😂 the parents loved hockey so they taught her since she was like 3 I’d guess based on the core memory. And she still just really enjoyed it.
I fully agree, but also people keep acting like they’re calling her gay when they didn’t do at all, as well as completely ignoring the evidence of her emotions being multiple genders (which is the MAIN basis of the theory). Like using her liking hockey as a reason is stupid af, but people are just completely ignoring the other thing (and also using gay and non-binary interchangeably).
@@julesgoebeli guess people just have short attention span and their brain just woke up when he said hockey. But like the hockey is really a stretch i think straight girls can like them too, as a queer individual i really like this idea and this would include more inclusivity but i also think some parents will go to the theaters for their children and when this do happen they'll be like dont confuse the children or something
@@dino8232 Well to your point about parents complaining about “confusing the children,” they’ll say for literally any representation, so conceding to those kinds of complaints means no queer or trans people in kids media ever, which is extremely harmful for queer and trans kids (particularly those with these types of parents, because they’ll stop them ever learning about themselves and grow up feeling like something’s wrong with them). That said, obviously I completely agree that straight girls can like hockey; I think that was a really dumb thing for the video to mention.
I honestly think its outrageous to get mad because a movie isn’t “gay enough” when these are kids movies, and honestly her having those details doesn’t determine her sexuality or gender. Edit: fiy, i wont be responding to any comments
Yeah and Pixar does have queer movies, so idk why ppl are saying Pixar’s not gay enough… Plus the reasons he listed are ridiculous. If Riley turned out gay or trans, it should be from something other than playing hockey.
Yeah but also inclusivity is important, and children can be exposed to people liking people, also I’m pretty sure Walt Disney was racist, soooo some change wouldn’t hurt (ik it’s not Disney but still)
As someone who’s gay and has loved inside out sense I was little I can say I don’t want Riley’s sexuality to be changed because her character does not give off the vibe and her playing hockey is completely normal for a teenage girl.
In the video when did they talk about sexuality? I only heard them talk about Riley's gender. How Riley's mind has female and male characters and other people only have male or female characters in their mind.
@@zingkoinko1231 ? A brave emotion is absolutely fine, but brave doesn’t mean coming out. Personally, im pansexual genderfluid, and even im not for this being a coming out movie.
Okay let’s be real. Riley’s emotions are mixed because she’s the main character, she needs to be interesting. Others emotions are one gender, and look like the character, to show whose it is and bc they’re not as important. Hockey is a gender neutral sport, just like almost any sport. No sports are ‘man like’ or ‘female like’
Am I the only one who thinks that the reason the lack of masculinity or femininity in general affects Riley's feelings is because she has not yet reached puberty and is still a child? I mean, do you remember the button that you asked about, the green feelings that say “pubescence?” Perhaps after pressing the button, the feelings will appear in a female form...and the reason that made me think of this is that, as children, we do not really distinguish or understand the difference between male and female, so her mixed-gender feelings appeared.
Wait a minute, at the end of the first movie, when Riley bumped into that boy, he’s the same age as her presumably, all of his emotions were male. So maybe that theory doesn’t quite work?
While that does make sense, I believe there were a few scenes at the end where we see the mind of other characters, some of them being the same age as Riley. All of them were one specific gender.
We all have failed to meet God’s perfect standard, and thus stand guilty, deserving of Hell. as a queer person can we literally stop putting LGBT into everything? Sometimes people just want to watch a movie and not worry about a main character being a minority. It’s becoming way too overdone and only made to appeal with the current agenda. this isn’t how we gain acceptance and respect, because people started hating us again once we decided to go so far to shove it in everyones lives.
I CANNOT live a day without seeing something lgbtq related in the internet. I know, I know, the lgbtq is an interesting and chill community, But it might be getting a little too popular or getting out of hand. I'm actually worried because the lgbtq community will start to get a lot of hate if this keeps going. I'm also getting uncomfortable because *I think* people will stare at me weirdly because I'm straight since *almost everyone* I see in the internet is a queer.
Their not saying shes trans, its theory my guy, also whats wrong with being trans, it doesnt hurt your sorry sad right-winger ass does it, we have so many cis and straight characters already so having one trans or lgbtq character is not going to hurt you
Right it's because she's the main character and it's to keep our interest (i seen two different comments that said something related or close to this and i agree) but in my opinion if i saw just all girls in Riley's head that looked almost the same I'm pretty sure we would've all been bored.

Fr and her mom and dad's emotions being the same gender as them were just a random fun part of the story and might not have anything to do with her sexuality.

Well said.
as a person in the lgbtq community i’m here to make a few points
hockey is for everyone
riley can be used for both genders, but she’s literally a girl, her name doesn’t mean anything.
her people representing her emotions are mixed because she’s a main character and the movie circulates around HER mind, and it needs variety in order to keep the watchers attention
edit: why y’all pressed.
the last point: sure, that makes sense for why the creators wanted to make them like that outside the world of the film
but in the film how do you explain that? you can't put something in without explaining it within the story (i mean you can, but an explanation would be nice)
There are 2 main spellings for Riley:
R-I-L-E-Y
R-Y-L-E-E
The latter doesn't get used as often as it should. I once played a two-part dating sim, where in the second game one love interest was a boy with the former spelling, while in the first game it was a girl with the latter spelling.

even the emotions thing is a stretch imo, they're just that way instead of being uniform like her parents' because they're the main characters and important characters get their own designs. this is like making up a theory based on why every main character in a movie has colourful designs and hair while the background characters get the same boring design - there's no in universe explanation, it's just that there's more focus on important characters.

Calling her gay and or trans for liking hockey is a WILD statement, bud 💀💀💀
Bud, no one said it was just because she liked hockey. There were several factors why some people would think that she is, so why are people getting triggered over the hockey thing?
@@midnight_rain89 Because it's completely irrelavant, same with her name.
@@cast8060It’s called a SPECULATION, bro…The multiple genders is actually pretty valid because if her fathers emotions are all male and her mothers are all female then it could be a valid argument since her emotions are different genders, but ofc nothings confirmed yet, just say you’re homophobic, no need to hide it 😂
Yes, especially those posting comments about riley being gay as she likes hockey, be careful and please watch out for indians reading this comment. Ya wanna know why? Cause hockey is India's national game. And you don't wanna mess with us, yes, i am an indian as well mf's

Yeah, Bonnie’s gonna be trans now because he looks androgynous and the Gen Z convince him to be what he wants (or some stupid shit 😂)

well, yeah? transgender and non-straight people have been oppressed for centuries and still are- this comment section as blatant proof.
representation js so vital in media, especially for kids, to implement a more welcoming mindset to those who differ from them.
representation in media helps to instill a society in which differences are normalized and hatred is lessened.

This might be a good theory, but the creator said that the "gender" of the emotions had nothing to do with Riley's gender. And even if it did, Disney would never accept a movie so open-minded.
real, i think her emotions are two genders, because she is still growing up and her emotions aren't fully stable. maybe in the future they will become one gender (or not)? i hope you understand.
It world be interesting if it would have a meaning but Ig they just wanted characters with different genders not just female

People are pushing lgbtq headcanons onto characters for dumb reasons. Just because Riley likes hockey doesn't mean she's gay.
We all have failed to meet God’s perfect standard, and thus stand guilty, deserving of Hell. However, through faith in Jesus Christ, the sinless lamb, and His sacrifice on the cross, which was made to forgive all of humanity’s sins, we are seen as righteous in God’s eyes, justified and purified. Through Jesus Christ, we can have eternal life with God, instead of suffering the consequences of our sins. We are also liberated from the bondage of sin, and it no longer controls us. As stated in Romans 10:9, “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

The reason riley has both gender emotions (and name) is so that teens can feel more connected to her.
