According to the budget document, due to advancements in technology, both hybrid and regular cars will now be subject to additional taxes and duties. Individuals earning more than $50,000 annually will be required to pay these taxes and duties on their car purchases. This move aims to promote the local automotive industry, especially since hybrid car production has already begun in the country. Similarly, the tax relief previously provided on luxury electric cars is also being withdrawn. The government is now proposing to base registration fees on the actual price of the vehicle rather than its engine capacity. In summary, the landscape for car prices in Pakistan is changing, and both local and imported vehicles will be affected by these adjustments.”
