Enjoy Flacq. I am from that corner of paradise. I don't go very often anymore; too costly from Canada. My teenage years were spent in the old open-air version of this market, selling tomatoes on Sundays. I am talking 1960's.
the vegetable at 01:38 is chayote or christophine and is the main ingredient for the dumplings with the thin soup, even the leaves can be eaten. the yellow vegetable is patty pan squash. the local name for the chayote is chouchou and patty pan squash is patisson

Hi Don't forget the dhall puri and their local felafel called chilly bites in french as they tend use more of french words. Try to join a local party to dance the Sega. The local dance.😮 Enjoy and keep making and sharing these amazing videos.😢
That was a heartwarming vlog. So adorable that I subscribed instantly I"m from Mauritius, though I get tourists are drawn to coastal villages, this is a one-sided perspective Another genuine and substantial part of Mauritius lies within it's cooler central plateau towns: BB-Rose Hill, Quatre Bornes, Curepipe... a consolidated metro area embodying the cultural, educational, even commercial heart of the island Also, Mauritians from cities & villages are different
The said vegetable is called Christophine and "Chouchou" in local Creole language!,anyway if you are moving south, try the Briani at "Pyramid Snack" at Mahebourg,so far take care and have a nice stay in Mauritius!,cheers!.. .
Welcome to paradise guys. I would highly recommend going to a place called Ti Kouloir in Grand Baie. Great value for money and the food always bangs! Also go to the dhall pourri vendor outside a shop called Galaxy in Goodlands. Try going for a hike with my friends Fabrice, he works for a tour company called Yanature. A great day out. I would also recommend the Waterpark in belle mare for a nice day out with Nye Nye. Enjoy guys hope you have the best time ever on my beautiful island of Mauritius 🦤
