This is a good documentary about Mauritius, with emphasis on economic growth. However despite this the document fails to highlight how the local inhabitants of the island are struggling to make ends meet, are on very low wage and do not benefit at all.
Minimum wage today is almost rs 20 000 (500 dollars) monthly,so if we compare ourselves to other African countries,we are way above!!!The cost of living is ofc high,but this is worldwide!!

South africans will find it very expensive to holiday in. R800 for taxi to mall from sugar beach hotel, R7000 for spa massage. Coffee and food highly expensive. Unless you have high budget for pleasure and food find a better destination for less.
Well 5 hotels are not cheap (remember some of them are among the best in the world),but 2 or 3 stars are cheaper,and there are also bungalows and BnB for backpackers !!Travel by bus instead of taxis,street foods all around the island,so ,everyone can afford it!!
