Happy #AlohaFridayAmJayzWithLina! I’m sorry that I didn’t post last week, I was in Japan and was busy and totally forgot to post. lol my bad 🤣
This weeks post is a little different. I’m heading to Hawai‘i Island tomorrow to spend some time with some beautiful people and I thought this would be a good mele and video to share.
This past March I was able to participate in my alma mater, the Kamehameha Schools Song Contest Hō‘ike performance as a part of The Tuahine Troupe under the direction of my Kumu Keawe & Tracie Lopes. This years honoree was Bill Ali‘iloa Lincoln, one of the most beautiful voices and poets of Mele Hawai‘i, also proud to call him ‘ohana ♥️
My Kumu allowed me to take solo on this song and I was truly honored. I am proud to have been a part of this celebration of mele, alongside musicians and practitioners that I admire and who I call friends and family. It was a privilege to be a part of this.
