Cheers Dan - looking forward to some nice lightweight camps in it! The solid inner would have made a night & day difference to the internal temps with our balmy mountain weather here in the UK! 😅 ATB 👊👍
@GoingSoloOutdoors yeah, I think your mod with the magic carpet makes sense re the inner footprint. I brought a third party one just to keep my pack on. Really hoping to try the solid inner ASAP and get some lightweight trips in this year. Great effort by Durston in my view.
Cheers - nervous in what way? I've similar Easton poles on my MSR Access 1 and they've been absolutely fine - all tent poles need to be treated with care, so if you do that, you'll be good.
@tonylashmar11 there was a manufacturing error by Easton with a small batch of their poles. They make poles for many brands of tent. Some of the inserts were not glued in correctly. This isn't a pole failure, rather a manufacturing error by Easton. Dan told all his customers this and will be replacing the affected sets 👍
The tent has a himalayan vibe to it with those flags, and plenty of space. Just received my Soulo partly based on your previous videos and Andy Wardle's advice too. Great video as ever.
@MCMOutdoors I'm planing a van trip away to the shores of Wales once this next storm has passed! Just going to look back on your vids as I'm wanting a new power system and I remember you ran a double air fryer from one...
Nice one Chris. Good to get the legs going again after the Christmas festivities. Plenty of frost in the morning; the tent was well frozen 🥶 Looked like a good crew out on that one. ATB mate 👌
I hate that road but on the plus side in the clag you cannot see it but I need to go back for another 3 Wainwrights. Three nice tents and out of pasta and steak I know who I would want to be eating with! That looked a cold night but the look of the morning tents and shame you did not get a morning view, cheers Alan.
Interesting comments on the Soulo fabrics not showing much sign of ageing because I had two Aktos in succession which both failed because of UV damage to the flysheets of both tents. Obviously, the damage resulted from heavy usage but I couldn't help feeling disappointed and I haven't bought Hilleberg since. The first of the Aktos, I bought at a display in Reading where one of Bo Hilleberg's relatives was setting up their tents. It was raining and he said that Bo had warned him that it would be. The reputation of the British weather had travelled to Scandinavia. That must have been around 1990. Maybe I should reconsider Hilleberg because it sounds as if their fabrics have improved a lot.
I've never had any issues. My friends tent is reasonably old and the comparison is plain to see. I spoke with Kim Andersson from Hilleberg last year at length regarding their Soulo model and tents in general - he advised that you could reasonably expect 20+ years from their Kerlon 1800 fabric with proper care. I'll be happy if I get that. Thanks for watching 👍
I had an old light green soulo before Rob had his darker version. They definitely changed the fabric. Mine was so uv damaged. Robs has never changed in appearance in all that time. And he uses it a lot. I had a red nallo too. (Old one) it turned pink. Rob’s got a 6-7 year old red unna as well it’s still dark red. So yeah they definitely sorted that issue. 👍
@@AndyWardle Thanks, Andy. My first Akto didn’t have the hood over the top of the door and didn’t need it. My second Akto had that hood but the fabric didn’t support it well. It pushed the fly down a few mill and that was enough for water to drop off the fly into the inner occasionally. In fairness, the two Aktos did me from approx 1990 to approx 2015 so just over 25 years between them although they weren’t my only tents in the end. I wouldn’t go with another Akto because my Duomid is too good but the Soulo definitely appeals for winter.

Wildbeare had a pole connector ? break on that model tent recently.

This is real winter. I miss the cold days and also snow.
Unfortunately we missed a huge amount of snow only the week before! Thanks for watching!

I'm out this weekend, fitness is shot!!
Taking the soulo RL with the extra 10mm(doubled up) mid pole that makes it super solid.
