I have this exhaust, also had fitment issues. Had it installed at a shop and the guy who installed it had to re-weld the hangers. But like you said, the difference between open and closed is massive. Closed is significantly quieter than stock.
Yeah if I would have access to someone who could weld, they could have rewelded it to make it sit properly. It just sucks to have issues out of the box. Glad it worked out for you!
Very nice sounding exhaust my friend! It sucks having fitment issues, but I am glad they were resolved. I really like the way it sounds with the valves open!! The ability to switch between basically and moderately loud exhaust tones is definitely a plus!!
I’ve got a 2018 Elantra GT that I’ve been wanting to do some minor upgrades. Not the N so mostly minor things. I just found your channel and you have been so much help. Love your videos man! Keep it up!
Great vid bro. Not happy your exhaust broke but finally happy a great video was made with this exhaust on my exact car. I might be in agreement with you, sounds great, just not sure it's the tone of exhaust note I prefer. It still sounds good. Never been many choices out there and this is as close to stock bolt on as there is and seems well made too. Thanks for the content.
Yeah it's not bad at all but something about the 1.6T stock tone (with both cats) just sounds great. I'll run this one for a while and see what happens. It's nice to have the opportunity to experience different setups.
@@JustinKelly There was an exhaust setup from Hyundai, only avail in Canada, prob came out when this car first came out from what I can see, maybe 2019, I could only really find one or two video on the setup, then Hyundai discontinued it in 2020. One of the dealers up there told me when I provided the part number. Would love to have heard or seen more on that one direct from Hyundai.
I left my wire in the 12 volt and just covered it.But my exhaust I sealed it with better gaskets and high temp glue. And all the joins welded so no leaks and sounds awesome better then the vid.The vid sounds to loud on idol most probably because it's in a enclosed space.I also made mine sound quiter on idol so it punches more power through the gears and sounds pure
I've had the opportunity to record three different setups (plus stock) with the same camera and mic so I will likely have a video covering what I think the best "sound" is for this platform. I haven't heard downpipe modifications but I think at that point they are too loud and loose some of the definition that makes the 1.6T sound great.
Hoping someone will respond Ik it’s been a while since this video been made but i have a 2021 elantra n line sedan and I’m wondering if they make one for this car ? And if so where would the wiring go since I have no 12v outlet in the trunk
Hi Justin, I have a 2.5 inch x force midpipe to go along with my stock muffler, I want to ask will the varex muffler able to fit with my current x force midpipe ?
That's good to hear! The acceleration clips were filmed 4 days after install but the car wasn't driven all 4 of those days so it likely is still getting broken in.
I have a 23 GT with the varex system. I got it installed at a shop and I noticed that the slip joints let some air out and water drips from them it doesn’t sound like there’s an exhaust leak just air coming out. Is it normal or should I have them weld it shut?
One of mine has the same issue. Mine let's the tiniest bit of air out which makes it sound like a leak. You can put an exhaust gasket sealer in the joint and reconnect to see if it helps or have it welded.
It's definitely something you have to watch out for these days! I guess they will be onto the next car once they look underneath unless they REALLY want to cut some stuff apart. 😂
I know this is a year old but figured I'd ask anyway. So Im helping my kid out. Forte GT 1.6. So we started with a resonator/cat delete with a sport muffler. Which I thought sounded good, but now its a muffler delete too and its obnoxious so we ordered the Varex kit and debating just bolting up the muffler and not using the included resonator. Just curious if you have any how much or little the varex resonator makes. TIA.
I don't know if the axle back will bolt up with the stock pipe or not. It would make a fair amount of difference because the midpipe also has the secondary cat. If you already removed that then it might not be a huge difference.
@@JustinKelly I guess I didn't even think about that. I'll find out tomorrow. The mid pipe kit we did, did matched up to the factory muffler and the sport muffler I was just assuming it matched up. If you care I'll let you know what we came up with.
@@JustinKelly Well, here is what happened. Opened the Varex kit and noticed the Axle pipe was missing, Yea QC, So It looked like the other kit would be close so when I went to install the muffler, It was pressed so tight against the heat shield there was now way this was going to work, Even with the correct pipe I don't think its a good fit, so I have the correct pipe coming and ordered some longer hangers as I still don't see it fitting correctly this muffler is really beafy compared to the stock and performance muffler
This is a great exhaust simply because it is valved. Greta for daily driving. Would Hyundai decline a warranty claim if you have an issue with possible drivetrain issues? That’s my only concern. I think the car is missing this. Otherwise it’s pretty damn good. Love your content. Keep it up!
Could you please help! Does this kit come with new rubber mounts or do you use the existing? I just had this delivered but can’t see them if they do come with it ?
Rubber mounts as in exhaust hangers? You use the stock ones. If you have the same car as me with the 1.6T, you'll have one left over metal exhaust clamp hanger. This is due to the fact some parts of the kit are shared with the I30N which has an extra hanger location.

How much did it cost for a shop to install it for you?
Always a joy to see your uploads.

I agree!
When you say resolved, have they released new models that fit fine? I'm about to purchase this for my N-Line but have heard about issues with fitments
Leave it open sounds amazing!!

In honesty...that disconnected exhaust in the beginning sounds the best 😂🤣

I don't think they could win that argument with a catback exhaust but ultimately it is up to the dealer/Hyundai.

Great to hear!
is that just catback no downpipe ?
Correct
I wouldn't want an extra button to adjust the exhaust I'd want it to work in with the original valve system.
That's not possible when there is not an original valve button.
@@JustinKelly the valve adjusts when you change modes. You can set your own n mode. I'd just want it to work in with that.
is this the Veloster catback?
No, this is the I30 N Line (1.6T catback). It uses many of the I30 N parts but changes the tip exit location.
What spoiler do you have on?
I30 N
@@JustinKelly Looks sick man. I just bought an identical car yesterday and am already looking for things to do 🤣
Do you get a lot of backfire on deceleration on it ?
Yes there are some burbles but it seems a little less than my old setup which may have something to do with the cat.
@@JustinKelly any thoughts on how to increase them?
