Very neat very nice .. I’ll attempt something similar.. thank you for the ideas going through my head now

Would be an awesome use for cutting splines/keyways

That's incredibly interesting...I may end up doing something similar....will convert a 7hp on a 15x 50 lathe to DC drive...and may not have the poop to push the cross slide...I did notice your motor drive has a hard spot or a bind in the drive causing a speed oscillation...and may cause tool chatter...?.

This is a great mod! I'M a little confused about one thing though. The hi low speed switch. I believe the window motor, although capable of two speeds is just that (2 speeds) not two different gear ratios. With that in mind, can't the total speed of the screw be controlled with just the controller dial itself? I might be missing something here. Just curious.

    Bonjour,
    Interesting.
Hear RMP engine change, cyclic, RMP not stable, you solved the problem?
Would be good for the surface condition.

Nothing broke. I just wanted independent controll of the lead screw.

Did something break on your lathe that prevents you from using the original system?

How slow will it go feed per revolution. Thousands per rev how many? All these videos on this mod and no one ever says

it sounds like the gearing could be lower for slower speeds. do you ever run it anywhere near full speed?

What spur gears did you use for the drive

I was gonna ask him a question too but since he has not answered a single one in over a year I will move on, why even put up a vid.....

Do you find with the speed reduced and under load the motor kinda struggles a bit and wont keep a consistent speed? I used a wiper motor to build this plasma cutter track th-cam.com/video/tLFTntKOcf4/w-d-xo.html using a PWM for the speed controller and that was a issue I found, although I didn't try it on the low circuit only high.
