Nice man, wish I saw this before glassing my board a few weeks ago. I ended up with a large air bubble in one of my channels. I fixed it by putting some resin in a 10 cc/ 18 gauge syringe that I got from a pharmacy and pumping it under the cured cloth. Neat trick with the 77 can.
I've used the 77 spray adhesive on a lot of my channels boards works pretty well. Just need to make sure if you use it on eps you go extra light or it can melt the foam.
That’s weird.. I went and tested some of the eps I have in the shed yes y and sprayed a massive amount on it in a small area and it was fine. I wonder if different eps density reacts differently? But regardless even with poly a light dusting is all that’s needed. It can leave your fibreglass “ dry” if you spray too much and it soaks in
@@Shrednaught Could also be whats in the air or propellant, I've hear rattle can acrylic can do the same thing. The test I did I used a ton and had slight melting, but using only a dusting worked really well. Currently testing to see if just brushing resin on the channels and letting it tack is better.
Awesome video, I appreciate you taking the time to break things down in simple steps. I really appreciate you showing the tools that you are using. That is a cool looking glassing rack. I didn’t kick the coloured resin as quick/ hot as I normally would to give me some extra time. The clear resin is catalysed quite hot/ high and this will help the tinted resin kick and make sure it all goes off fast enough

( The video I'm referencing is th-cam.com/video/k_7nHHFQxkk/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=Shrednaught for the questions below.) What's the advantage (apart from different colours) of doing a tail and deck patch vs doing 2 full layers of glass on the top and bottom? If it's just a weight thing is there that much of a difference in weight between the two methods that makes doing patches worth it? (Also would there be a significant strength difference between patches vs 2 layers of glass). The second question is what's the difference between putting the fin boxes in before vs after glassing? As I have seen some videos where the fin boxes are put in before the glassing and some are put in after (generally with single fin longboards). If you put the fin boxes in before glassing shouldn't you put the leash plug in at the same time? Sorry if these are newbie questions. Keep up the great videos!
