Her singing in a Seattle Verdi Requiem in the mid-90s was magnificent, with probably the most powerful and also affecting "Libera me" I've ever heard. She was in stupendous voice, and the sensation of that huge vibrant sound was practically palpable, like the air itself was resonating around us in the hall. I'll never forget it. She had it all that day.
I had the opportunity to meet and socialize with her in New York after a performance (Eve Queler?). I heard her on a few occasions, the last of which was Richard Strauss' Friedenstag, with Washington Concert Opera. It was a wondrous sound, enveloping and still direct
I saw her sing Aida and I was mesmerized. She was a truly great performer that was devalued for her size. I was appalled to hear people snicker when she walked on stage at a recital. I was ashamed of my fellow opera goers. Anyway, thrilled to see this great clip! Thank you!
I heard her early in her career as Turandot in a concert performance in Chicago at the Auditorium Theatre [was supposed to be at the Grant Park Music Festival but there was horrible rainstorm and it was moved to the Auditorium]. Her voice was enormous and simply overwhelmed every one else. I had heard both Lucille Udovic and Birgit Nilsson prior to this as Turandot and Marc was better even than Nilsson.

I was lucky enough to hear her in Turandot in Copenhagen alongside Johan Botha. Those were the days!
❤❤❤❤❤❤ she is magnificent!

She has an incredibly strong voice. Whilst there are a few flaws, don’t forget it’s a live performance. I love the power she conveys. 😄
It was a luscious experience to listen to her in the theater ...
J'y étais! Un torrent!!!!
Production vue également l'année précédente avec Sharon Sweet et le regretté Sergei Larin, direction G. Prêtre
Nous y étions donc ... et j'ai bien connu Sergei :)
