I’ve followed you for years now, and it disappoints me to see such sweeping judgments against all Harleys. I believed we motorcyclists held ourselves to a higher standard. But still congrats on the money raised for the kids fund. Hats off to you for that.
@@BrewingInHungary fair enough comment but these are only my views. People seem to be very protective about national treasures such as Harley’s and I respect that, but this bike was bloody awful.
Really looking forward to the 66 episodes, and agree totally about the Harley's, except as I get older they are nice to look at. Marvelous amount for a good cause. Ten, four, rubber duck. Arthur out.🏍️
For a moment there Dave I thought you were going too deep!! 😆 Not a bit “I will never buy a Harley” 😂 classic. Looking forward to seeing what you get up to. Well done on raising so much money for a very worthy cause. Keep up the great work. Murt
Looking forward to the 66 vids. But happy to see you on the GS. The HD drop was fabulous. Made me laugh out loud. Brilliant fund raising effort..Congratulations
Can't wait to see the series Dave (particularly seeing as I have to rely on your videos😂😂). 100% agreed about the Harley - tick the box first time out, but once was enough!!
Cant wait to see the videos! I’ve done the Harley ride for 6 weeks in the US and hated riding it so much. Gave up and shipped my K1600 to ride route 66
I did a 2,000 mile tour in October 2024 in the Southwest U.S. on a BMW GS 750 and it was fantastic! Did some off road in Moab, Utah and the GS did incredible! Both on and off road. I live in America and currently ride a Triumph T120 but in the past have had many motorcycles of all brands. The happiest day of my life was when a sold my Harley Electra glide. I hated that bike……too heavy, extremely under powered and generally not very well made. Americans seem to be giving up these bikes in favor of Adventure Bikes of all different brands. I’m looking at adding an Africa Twin but I’ll always keep the Triumph! Great videos! Thanks so much
Interesting what you say about Americans and their Harleys because after spending two weeks on a Street Glide I just can’t understand how they sell any of them? Absolutely awful. BMW all the way I say and if I ever do 66 again, it’ll be on a BMW for sure. 👌
@@WheelieGoodTVHarley is not doing well in America. Sales are very low and I believe they had to restructure financially recently. There are so many great new bikes out there now and I guess mostly in the Adventure segment. Lots of guys on my tour were on the GS 1250……beautiful bike! I’m thinking Harley just can’t compete with all the new styles and technology.
Looking forward to seeing you all on the 66, what an achievement 400k too!! I am looking to do a full trip next year, have done small bit before out of Vegas, but need to do it all …. I will defo do on Harley (never ridden one before) well done Dave!! Cheers Martin/Suffolk
Just completed Route 66 myself albeit riding it Solo so will be interested to see your follow up videos and recall the memories. You must have got a Friday Harley, the Road King I rented from Eagle Rider was flawless and the absolute perfect tool for the job. I also did The Grand Canyon excursion and agree on the photo thing. I got the train there though from Williams AZ taking a day off from the bike. Oh and well done raising all that money for a great cause!
Watching convoy as a child I also was bitten by the bug and from that day on between convoy and Smokey and the bandit the two videos were never off the television and there was never any doubt I’d do anything else than drive a truck for a living lol, sadly we lost Kris Kristofferson a few weeks ago also 😢
Welcome back! When you started on about self-realisation, an epiphany and mentioned the Camino ... I thought you were about to say you had religious experience. ... But no ... "I don't like Harley Davidsons"!!! Literally laughed out loud! Looking forward to these Route 66 videos!
Thought for a minute I'd missed a load of vids from 66..Phew...I do think you got the wrong first Harley ...we rode a Heritage, much lighter and more nimble ..both of us bought one when home..The Grand Canyon was my highlight also ..in American lingo it's properly 'Awesome'😂..looking forward to the next series.
I saw Convoy and wanted to Drive a Big Black Truck😀Riding a Motorcycle across America has been on my list of things to do as far back as I can remember. Easy Rider? CHiPs? Motorcycle ride in the US still on the to do list. The Grand Canyon Mule Ride was on my list. We drove, Pulled up to the South Rim of the Canyon went to the desk. The guy laughed at us its booked up 2 years ahead. Told us about the North Rim might have a spot, Called from the desk, Two spots available next morning, Where 6.5 miles away. Didn't ell me it was a 350mile drive round the Grand Canyon. We did the drive and slept in the car. Did the mule ride the next day. It was spectacular. definitely a bucket list item, Went back to the South Rim last year and did the last bit of 66. Did Glacier, Yellowstone, Zion, (really cool) Grand Canyon to LA and the 101 back North. One Day I will go further east just haven't got round to it yet. Glad you enjoyed your ride. Look forward to the video. I probably take my GS. 😁
Morning Dave , well f..k me that was a jam packed short vlog with so many topics, Congrats to all involved for firstly making it back unscathed, and for raising an incredible amount of money and awareness for the children’s hospitals in Ireland you all should be very proud of yourselves , You have painted an incredible teaser to the 66 videos, Can’t flipping wait to see the series of vids Anywho Dave Thanks again for your amazing vlogs Tony 👍🤘👏🕺
American here, and fellow Striple owner in Cosmic Yellow. Your review of touring the RS is what sold me on it, as my wife and I are looking to run longer and longer trips this coming year. What is the exact make and model of your camera? Our GoPro Hero 10's are so awful I am ready to throw them in the trash. Can't even tell you how many times we've lost great footage. Burgers are awesome, but you can't smash one everyday 😂 Glad you had a blast in the US ❤
Yeah, I’m with you, mate. Here in the US, HD ridership is a puzzle. Expensive, overweight, slow, handle like a pig on stilts. It’s all for Bruce the accountant to feel like a badass.
@@marcoluoma3770 we haven't the roads for them in the UK...narrow, twisty and full of potholes!!....I have a triumph street triple 675r...perfect for here.
How closely did you stick to the exact Route 66 route? When Henry Cole rode if for the Motorbike Show, there were places where the road just ended. He had to take diversions along the interstate highways before getting back on on a bit of Route 66.
There are a few motorbikes that Harley Davidson makes that can accelerate to catch up with lorries. They make them for their Livewire subsidiary. I've ridden a Livewire DelMar. That's a sports bike. They could be an exception to your resolution never to ride a Harley.
Don’t bother with a Livewire Dave…..around 100 miles max range on a charge, provided you ride (fast?) at around 55mph, then finding a charger, then waiting for ages….NOT for me!
@@neilurquhart8622 That's why I have an Energica Experia, 160 mile range, DC charging. But the Livewire also has DC rapid charging, although the battery is smaller.
With the prices they’re charging I doubt it’s true but I’d say their merchandise definitely goes a long way towards repairing and honouring warranties on their bikes. It really was bloody awful!
@@HarlridersCVOIreland that’s not my make up at all. I’ve always been 100% transparent about everything I touch upon. However, I always maintain that my view shouldn’t be anyone else’s.
