    Just left Las Vegas and are currently at Lake Havasu Arizona and will be riding a few bits of Route 66 tomorrow mate.
    We are on a 5 month trip from our Home in the Canadian Rockies in our Toyhauler with our Goldwing. You so need to join the club with a Toyhauler so Nat can be the support team.
    Thanks so much for all the TOP TIPS.

      Natalie take a Look at Alliance’s 36 V 11 Toy hauler that’s what we have because in British Columbia you can only pull an RV under 40 foot unless you go take a Commercial Vehicle License. Alliance have also just launched a tow behind toy hauler that might be of interest.
      We used to tour on our Yamaha FJR 1300 all over the UK and Western Canada using hotels but it got so hit and miss that we bought a
      toy hauler so that we have our own bedroom.
      Talk to Todd n Sheila about the Grand Design too. That said we were just about to order a Grand Design Toy Hauler when they did a video that featured our rig and so we bought the Alliance. $120,000 Canadian sight unseen.

    Would love to ride across the US. Not sure on route. Is it mostly tacky tourist or scenery? Have you ridded any other US routes? We did a little bit of R 66 from the South Rim to LA a couple of years ago but mostly on the highway.
    My wife won't ride with me. So I go alone. She drove our support vehicle up to the Yukon, NWT, Arctic Ocean and round Alaska. We slept in the car in rest areas a few times when there were no vacancies. Not particularly comfortable but it worked.
    It worked really well for me not having to pack to much on the bike.

    • @BrazenBrits
      @BrazenBrits  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I bet the extra luggage was nice. Was tight on the bike only. Most scenery; not touristy rubbish when on Route 66 purely. The only touristy area was Oatman. But the sidewinder road into it is 100% worth it. We haven’t done many other routes… yet. But watch this space 😃

    • @BrazenBrits
      @BrazenBrits  ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s fantastic! That’s a great idea. Some of the route is on a mostly un-maintained road next to a new highway. If you really want to do the original road, there are sections that would be perfect for a quad! But, I’ll be honest, this is a small percentage of the whole Route. We rode next to the really old original route for a lot of the ride, but even on a quad, there is a lot that isn’t.
      It’s definitely a cool idea. We used an phone app called Navigation route66, that was excellent. However, their support was non-existent.

    Just found your great site, full of information and good advice, so thank you both. I would appreciate your honest opinion on the following if you would be so kind. Route 66 is a bucket list item that I need to do. I am based in the UK and having just turned 70, I need to get this organised.
    I was planning on riding with my wife on a Harley Ultra Limited, so two up with luggage. I currently have this bike in the UK and have covered over 100K miles touring Europe, so an experienced rider. This was the Bucket List Dream.
    However if I am honest, I am beginning to realise that the bike is getting a little heavy as I get older. My wife thinks the trip will be too much and has some concerns. I know we could do an organised trip with a tour group, so they carry the luggage in a support vehicle, but what if the dynamics of the group don't work. Also doing a solo trip means it can be extended both in time and what you want to see. We have toured the West Coast of the USA where we hired a Mustang Convertible which was great fun, so maybe not the dream ride but an alternative option considering our ages etc.
    Do you think you would have enjoyed your roadtrip and experiences as much if you were not riding the Harley? Appreciate your thoughts. Many thanks 🙂

      @@alankemp3145 Jons response is - I don’t think it would have been any less enjoyable, in fact I’d happily do it again in a mustang convertible! Some things would be easier with a car, which I think would balance out the not being on a bike side of things. I don’t think there’s anything that we did that wouldn’t be as good in a car, and I 100% would do my own trip again, not with a guide and large group, for exactly the reasons you list but at 48 I did find it very tiring.
