Nice video Bruce. Years back when I first got one of those magnetic parts trays I thought I lost a bolt. Looked all over for it. Figured it must have gone through a black hole and was orbiting a galaxy in some other dimension. Weeks later I found it stuck underneath the bowl as you have shown. LOL
Good repair Bruce. It is nice when you have good used parts available. I bet Honda And Kawasaki get their coils from the same manufacturer. Both at Japanese.
Great video! To take the top cover off completely, you need to unscrew the fuel cut off switch, I have three of these, bought a later one at auction on the weekend but doesn't want to run...
Bruce, I have two of those fine JD/Kaw mowers but I have never had to take the top off. Thanks for the instructive video. Did you know that that motor can be fitted with an oil filter?
That rabbits foot wasnt that lucky for the rabbit seemed to work well for you and spare parts ;-) You should have painted it the right colour for a John Deere though. Great job mate.
recently got the JD 14SX Commercial. Not starting. Giving it a once over. Stuck though, not able to remove the nut under the dust screen. The engine just spins with the ratchet. The mower blade does not spin when I ratchet the nut, so that did not help. How do I lock the fly wheel to remove the nut?
Remember the blade is on a clutch so it isn't connected to the engine directly. Do you have access to an impact socket of some type that will loosen it.
Looks like it is about $50 U.S.+ shipping. That isn't to bad but the problem is waiting for the part when the mower is needed right away. That is the old story.
