I am happy that this topic is being discussed in India. I must say that even Pakistani dramas such as Ishq Zahe Naseeb, Sabaat, Pyaar Ke Sadqay have started discussions around mental health and we must be mindful we should not use terms like "pagal" or "sarphira" for them.

    To all parents🙏
There was a very brilliant boy, he always scored 100% in Science.
Got Selected for IIT Madras and scored excellent in IIT.
Went to the University of California for MBA.
Got a high paying job in America and settled there.
    Married a Beautiful Girl.
Bought a 5 room big house and luxury cars.
He had everything that make him successful but a few years ago he committed suicide after shooting his wife and children.
    *WHAT WENT WRONG?*
California Institute of Clinical Psychology Studied his case and found *“what went wrong?”*
The researcher met the boy's friends and family and found that he lost his job due to America’s economic crisis and he had to sit without a job for a long time.
After even reducing his previous salary amount, he didn't get any job.
Then his house installment broke and he and his family lost the home.
They survived a few months with less money and then he and his wife together decided to commit suicide.
He first shot his wife and children and then shot himself.
The case concluded that the man was Programmed for *success* but he was not *trained for handling failures*.
Now let's come to the actual question.
*What are the habits of highly successful people?*
First of all, I want to tell you that if you have achieved everything, there is a chance to lose everything, nobody knows when the next economic crisis will hit the world.
*The best success habit is getting trained for handling failures*.
I want to request every parent, please do not only program your child to be *successful* but *teach them how to handle failures* and also teach them proper lessons about life.
Learning high-level science and maths will help them to clear competitive exams but a knowledge about life will help them to face every problem.
Teach them about how *money works* instead of teaching them to *work for money*.
Help them in finding their passion because these degrees will not help them in the next economic crisis and we don’t know when the next crisis will hit the world.
*"Success is a lousy teacher. Failure teaches you more."*
    *_Please share with other parents._*

Me too. I liked him as an actor, and have kept in touch with the news of other deaths such as Irrfan Khan and Rishi Kapoor, but this one shook me that I'm still reeling even now, 3 days after hearing about it. Maybe it's because of how his life ended. If he had been physically sick as opposed to mentally, I think ppl would've forgotten it by now. But this guy was so talented and seemed so sweet in real life too that he chose to die, it's impacted us all so much. 💔💔💔

I am also. because its such a tragedy. he was going through such anguish for so long that he thought to suffer through suffocation and hanging than live another day. On the outside, he had an infectious smile and seemed so happy, smart and clear. It's just a juxtaposition of how you can look good on the outside but be utterly broken on the inside. Then, the tragedy gets worse with the media circus and blame game going on which has nothing to do with him but agendas and utterly selfish. It's just a tragedy before, during and after...

Sushant was never trolled he was always appreciated fr his talent and he continuously shared so many things which intrigued him with his fans! He had a large inst following also bcz he shared what he actually liked instead of photoshoots etc! He shared quotes/poetry / he was a single rank holder in their country's engineering exams had a scholarship offer from Stan Ford University/ he was interested in mathematics/astronomy shared everything about his interests ppl liked him for all the gud reasons! We r just realising now the rejection tht he faced frm bollywood insiders bcz of his suicide the buildup cud have been there since ages n finally he came to a point where he thought his films are getting snatched one by one ppl frm the industry don't accept him even if he tried! Everybody knew how things work under big banners n their owners but bcz of his suicide ppl r realising the intensity and brutality of this now

I had posted a comment last week but deleted it thinking that perhaps it was not important. But it kept playing on my mind and today after seeing this episode I want to talk about it. During Sabaat's review, Aamna had said that Miral's friends acting was terrible and that she is a terrible actress. I have great regard for Aamna and really look upto her as a fair minded and compassionate petson so this remark upset me. Of course I understand you review performances but I feel it's ok to go a little soft on someone who has not performed well esp a side artist whose career many a times depends upon reviews and since your platform is so popular there are many producers and directors also watching it. Sometimes it's just a line or two that could crush someone's self esteem. Pls don't get me wrong. Pls take this in the right spirit. Am not saying do not criticize when a performance is not upto the mark but a little softness esp for a side actress would go a long way. Thank you for listening. I love you both. Best wishes from India.

Yes, Deepti, I agree I was a little harsh. To err is human and I should have been gentler with my critique. That said, I don’t think the girl can act and she should not be lead to believe she has a career in acting. That’ll only lead to more heartbreak. But point taken. - Aamna

Hassan is saying he has seen celebrities crying over terrible comments. Wasn't amna's comment on miral's friend the same thing? It doesnt matter what topic ur talking about... Acting, looks, etc. Its just the way u say it. Ur only comment should have been.. I dont think think the girl can act v well.. Maybe she needs to work hard. I know a lot of ppl who were not good at all initially but they are amazing now at acting. So the so called fact that she shouldn't be lead into believing shes a good actor ia definitely not the right thing to say. Glad ur sorry about it. Big thing u did. Hats off to you. But, the what u said after that was also not needed. Not trolling. Just saying what i think is fair. Otherwise i reallly like ur program is amazing. U n hasan r doing a great job.

Amna I agree about the signs. There was an engineering student who was under a lot of stress because of the new policies of the uni that made it so hard for everyone just to 'pass' the exam. Everyone was 'really' stressed and one day this guy shared a SS of what he googled. It was something like 'how to commit suicide without making your mother upset' and you know what everyone on this post laughed it off. How can someone possibly not be alarmed by this? The guy ended up committing suicide and everyone blamed the uni policy.
What have we become? Is it hard to tell people that we're in this together and you can make it through? But we choose to be 'savage' rather than be empathetic because savage is cool.

Thanks once again for discussing this. Please keep the discussion sustained later on too.🙏

So glad that you spoke about Mental health. Agree with everything you both said 👍
In addition, mental health is still considered such a taboo subject in some cultures or communities. People don't want to be labelled. If someone has a headache, they will take a painkiller, if they have severe and regular headaches, they will see a doctor. But why not to manage their mental health. When this impacts every aspect of an individual's life. Their physical health, educational and financial potential, decision making, career, relationships etc, etc.
Depression like many conditions is a spectrum. In its minor form may be managed by talking therapies, exercise, developing interests/hobbies. In its extreme may need medication.
With the current pandemic people may feel lonely, isolated or be at home with no release or an abuser.
I agree, with social media, everyone is a commentator and critic and hide behind the cloak of anonymity. But they need to be kind with their words. If you wouldn't say it to someone's face, don't write it.

His death has started a controversy of nepotism in Bollywood. Star kids don't include the outsiders in their social gatherings. Also awards are given to undeserving star kids. Karan Johar is under attack to promote nepotism. This is the dark side of Bollywood.

    • @sumbulakhtar1885
      @sumbulakhtar1885 4 ปีที่แล้ว

It is common everywhere. We include people we know from our childhood to events that we want to exclude others we are less familiar with even if the latter have fewer friends owing to being new to the place for whatever reason.
The issue is more about mental health and not nepotism.

@@sumbulakhtar1885 There is a video by kangana in which she talks about how outsiders are made to believe that they are worthless. Also they have to struggle a lot for debut. Then there is the 'awards' issue. Sushant talked about not being invited to Bollywood parties with salman khan saying ,"who is he", and aliya bhatt being nasty about him in coffee with karan. Obviously the sensitive ones feel more. There has to be a mental issue which is aggrevated by the injustice and inequality by the people who surround you. It is same as racism but on a micro level. There are now open discussions about it on media, in India which is a good thing, Nepotism is a curse anyway.

    • @sumbulakhtar1885
      @sumbulakhtar1885 4 ปีที่แล้ว

@@mahnoorqureshi3281 I agree a lot of people can be nasty but karan johar and alia bhatt are not those who are known to be nasty. None of them like kangana because there is a mean and conniving streak in her. Karan johar has taken several outsiders in his movies such as Sidharth Malhotra, Fawwad Khan, Anushka Sharma, etc.
In general bollywood likes to take established names and a few family friends launch their or their friends' kids.
Audiences go overboard in putting the blame on anyone but themselves. They never avoid being mean or trolling.
Even blind love for a celebrity is abnormal and can lead to nastiness to their rivals.
I am not a karan johar fan and hated his two biggest hits however I can understand how it can be a different dynamic when you are offended by slight things done by those you are less familiar with but can understand those you've known all your life not that it is right.

    • @mahnoorqureshi3281
      @mahnoorqureshi3281 4 ปีที่แล้ว

@@sumbulakhtar1885 True, if you are an Indian you would know Bollywood better than me. It's always better to have open discussions to know the pro and cons, benefiting the society as whole. Not all star kids make it big. At the end of the day it's your talent that counts. Even Amir khan thought award shows were unfair with him. Also outsiders have more observation and interaction with the indian common man on which films are made. Star kids live in a small world of their own. Still subjects like nepotism, pressure of high competition, race of getting A*s in studies and their impact on mental health should be addressed.

He himself said that I am an introvert and that is why I don’t like going to parties. He was more intelligent than people surrounding him and some people couldn’t understand him and assumed that he is on drug and then spread that news as if it was a fact. I just want to tell whoever reads this that sometimes doctors can be quiet dismissive about it. I've had depression since I was 13 and my own father who is a doctor himself said I'm too young to have depression. Every doctor that asked for my medical history. When told that I take antidepressants would roll their eyes at me, it wasn't until I was 17 that I opened up about my depression with my phupo who herself was a psychiatrist, she diagnosed me with chronic depression, it's constant depression, comes and goes, isn't as severe as it's other types, people couldn't tell if I had depression, it wasn't until I opened up about that people found out and they were shocked. Sometimes you can't tell if someone is depressed. I'm 20 now, still have my depression, I got professional help at 19 and I'm doing alot better but i still struggle with it. At 20 I was diagnosed with PCOS, that's when we found out that the hormonal imbalance had caused the initial depression but since I've lived with it for so long that now it's become a part of me. It's part of how I think, cpuncelling in Pakistan isn't as good as people make it out to be, a psychiatrist here would only prescribe medicines for it, very few good therapist's are available. But one you find them, they're worth it. I stopped taking therapy for personal reasons but I can tell you for a fact that it helped my mental health significantly. Depression is a part of my brain now so now if I feel to happy I get a panic attack but I'm comfortable with it. It's not irritating anymore, it's comfortable now. Hope this helped whoever read this.

Great discussion guys. I would like to add one little thing that depression may at times mean feeling sad for no reason. Sometimes there really isnt any reason but you still feel sad and that feeling never goes away. Thats what pushes you over the edge that there is no end to your pain.
Also despite having heard this word and knowing ppl who go through it, trust me nobody can ever know how it feels or what is it unless they go through it themselves. One advice to everyone plz Talk To Someone. Develop and maintain healthy social relationships that you can rely on because u never know when an emotional turmoil is lurking around. You need to be prepared.

Commendable subject and message given by you two . Also I appreciate the fact that you raised how celebrities are trolled on social media becoz now it has become too much . Even I was ashamed reading that conservation so how can that person tolerate against whom it was written . If you like someone what does not signify that you can abuse other . God bless you both 👍

Phenomenal discussion. I sometimes i can not fathom the mean and bully culture of social media. How people sometimes use abusive languages, start moral policing.
Social media has increased the isolation,we are constantly managing our virtual life and real life.I am so glad that i was not growing up in social media time. The kind of pressure and bullying i see specially in young generation is astounding. So many young kids commit Suicide in US because of social media pressures and poor coping skills.

Thanks for this important discussion. I really don't understand people who write such awful comments on anyone's post... Never have & never will. If it's not constructive criticism keep your mouth shut and move along! Mental health needs to be taken as seriously & 'normally' as your physical health. I've been really upset about Sushant Singh Rajput's death...My post about it also said 'Speak up & be kind'. We never truly know exactly what leads a person to such a devastating step but it's important to just support people & spot the signs 💔

Another thing, words around suicide are very sensitive. I've had trainings in suicide prevention and a key point is not saying 'committed suicide' but 'died of suicide'. Also, media outlets writing the way suicides take place needs to be avoided because that leads to 'copy cat' deaths. This is especially true in celebrity deaths and there is news that his fans are doing this. I wish the media and journalists learn about it. Also, like to appreciate Something Haute team to talk about this and try to spread awareness. Thanks.

The last few days have been extremely hard to endure. SSR's death has taken a toll on me. Mental Health is important, it's about time we realize that. We should be responsible enough not to post whatever comes to our mind. Our words will eventually have an impact, make sure it's a positive one.

@AS I wrote this comment long before the depression theory was proven to be wrong. I was under a lot of mental stress myself as news like these make me really anxious. So, at that time whatever was told on the news and whatever came to my mind, I wrote. I'm completely aware of the situation now. But, we all had no idea two months ago.

Its so heart-breaking to think that the man that thaught us that suicide is not the only way in "Chhichore"(my fav movie) ended up doing it himself. He was One of my favorite Bollywood actors. His suicide was such a shock to me. It's extremely saddening to imagine what he must have been going through to take such a step. But there is one thing that lightens me up. Despite what he did, he doesn't come to my mind as a depressed person, whenever I think of SSR, an upbeat, smiling guy appears in my mind. And I definately don't want that to change. I believe its the toxicity of Bollywood that killed him. I will remember him by all his successes and not by his failures.

Social media is like traffic on road. Somebody cut your line and you curse him because you take the advantage of that distance between you and the other guy. If that same guy put his foot on your foot in a lift, would you abuse him like you would do on a road? No you will be more polite. Same goes for social media. First of all people take advantage of that distance and 2nd is even bigger problem. People just do it for the sake of likes and attention. They don't necessarily have that thought process but they will still leave mean comment because of those likes. So my advice to celebs is don't take it seriously or if you are going to take it seriously then don't be on social media. And if it's so necessary then never read any comments. It doesn't matter if they are good or bad. Just post and leave. Even if you are scrolling, never read comments. Ironically if you look at the comment section of our any female celeb's posts, you will see first 4 to 5 mean comments will be from women.

But this doesn’t mean that you bash them just because you envy them.... they are a public figure! If you don’t like a post of any celebrity so pls pls don’t write a hateful comment because at the end of the day they are human.... it’s between them and Allah!🙏🏻

Great topic! I think it is very important that people realize how important it is to chose words wisely before they speak or write. As your words can hurt and effect people a lot. If people/celebrities do not reply back that does not mean it does not effect them.

My mother had had phalig attack this March in which her vision was affected to some extent. After recovering from phalig attack her vision didn't improve. So we went for lens operation as per doctor's suggestion. She spent 3 months with low vision and she was at the urge of anxiety and depression. But we her children were there to discuss her issues and motivate her to see light. On 5 june she went through lens surgery and with the blessings of Allah she has started recovering her vision. After surgery she told us that she was depressed and anxious throughout her treatment that whether she can see or not? We visited doctor after lens surgery and she discussed with doctor about her depression he had been.. Alhamdulillah she is fine now.

Thoughtful discussion. I would like to add one thing though, even if someone IS seeking help for mental illness , immediate family tries to hide it from the extended family as if it’s some sort of plague . It brings such a negative effect to the person who is suffering , no one realizes that.😞 please be considerate as a society . Appreciate people who are seeking help and be supportive to their families .
Amna I’m so happy you will be reviewing dushman e jaan . I like that things don’t happen magically in that drama. Every thing is shown like it happens in real life. For example the cheque issue . Also all 3 siblings are reluctant to sit with Hatim in his car 🙂 which is what normally happens if some stranger offers you a ride.
