    For anyone wondering, they cannot build anything on American Eagle's plot. There's some weird land thing where they can take the coaster out but can never build there again. However I'm pretty sure they can RMC it without infringing upon that

    As much as i agree with this video the park really needs a smooth, airtime, drawn out/long ride. The last 10 years has been nothing but short, compact, and intense. My ideal prediction would be a CCI American eagle refurbishment with new trains in 2022. The entrance area near American eagle can use a revamp, especially the que line!!!

    Well Great America is my park and I have ridden every roller coaster there and love the new thrills. I got to ride max force 3 times in the 2019 season and it was amazing. I definitely agree with your theory on keeping American Eagle considering it is one of the oldest ones in the park. Yes it might be a little bit bumpy at some parts but it is a lot of fun to ride and the historical value definitely will keep it running for as long as they can. I would be sad though if they took out Vertical Velocity because it is one of my favorite rides but then again considering in the summer I go once a week at least to Great America I can say it does break down a lot.

    My top picks would be: S&S Axis, Mack Power Splash, and RMC Raptor (Jersey Devil clone)
    Removing V2 and Yankee Clipper would leave enough space for a Mack Power Splash or RMC Raptor (Jersey Devil clone). Removing Buccaneer Battle and relocating the three Hometown Park kid's rides would leave enough space for the S&S Axis prototype layout on the spec sheet.

  • @lessardo87
    @lessardo87 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    I think an RMC hybrid is likely. this would be like the B&M hypers and gigas in the same park, and that is CF. their business model makes a lot more sense than SF so I wouldn't count this out. A duelling RMC is nothing like Goliath and RMC's designs now focus more on outerbanks and inverted overbanks than the typical ones like Goliath. the only similarity would be the trains.

    • @rebelknpv573
      @rebelknpv573 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lessardo if I owned a really big park I would have a small dueling RMC like twisted colossus with a launch like lightning rod and a big one like steel vengeance, but for SFGA it’s just to much to have 2 RMC hybrids.

    • @Coolsomeone234
      @Coolsomeone234 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The difference between a B&M Hyper and Giga is quite noticeable.
      Hypers are longer, have a L-shaped layout but Gigas are taller, shorter and have a different layout.
      RMC themselves have stated that the Topper Track and I-Box are the same things, except one is wooden and the other is steel

  • @wutduh8697
    @wutduh8697 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    First thing to note, an out and back racing RMC hybrid is very different from a RMC giant twister wooden coaster. The out and back would focus more on airtime than inversions like Goliath. I don't get why people keep comparing the two. Second thing, the Eagle needs whole parts if it its structure redone. That's whole reason why they can't race it anymore. It wouldn't be a simple retrack it would be tearing huge sections out of the coaster and redoing. Tons of money right there. At that point you might as well go with an I box conversion. Third thing, they were going to convert it to an Iron horse track. But they went witu Goliath instead. My guess would be because at the time, Six flags didn't want to fork out the money. Now after seeing west coast racers, I believe it is possible. And the issue with a lot of your predictions is space. There is literally no more space for the park to expand without removing an attraction. Even more of a reason that an RMC conversion is more likely.

    Either it's going to be a GCI Steel retrack (never been done before, and it still satisfies the want for an American Eagle retrack) or an RMC conversion that would try and get a few records for the re-branding like "A legend reborn" or something for American Eagle as it was a record breaking coaster when it started its life.

  • @sheeple04
    @sheeple04 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I also think that a RMC Raptor or Axis is the most likely. RMC American Eagle not so much.
    Apparently, American Eagle was in big trouble in 1999. Residents who live near the ride complained about noise issues. In the end, the city of Gurnee acted that American Eagle could be preserved, *but no new ride would be allowed to be constructed 500ft *(or around 400, not sure)* from Washington Street*. This poses a problem, since, would a RMC Conversion count as a new coaster? I mean, it probably would. So the city would probably stop Six Flags from doing it due to this agreement.
    Now, maybe a RMC Conversion isn't counted as a new ride, but I'm not sure, I'm not a judge. But I think it's extremely unlikely it will be RMCed.
    I think a retracking by RMC could be likely. Something like what they did with Tremors at Silverwood.

    • @noname117spore
      @noname117spore 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think that's the big question. Would RMC American Eagle be a new coaster or not, legally? If it would be, that probably increases the chance of them going it. If it wouldn't be, then that definitely lowers the chance to nearly nothing. It's certainly something Six Flags could lobby for and have a reasonable chance of winning.

    I know this probably won't happen, but I would LOVE to see some sort of new-gen Vekoma in place of either the Demon or V2. Maybe a launched invert would be cool, but an Axis would also be pretty dope, too. Ultimately, I think the thing this park needs is a grade-A airtime machine, though. Most of their airtime-based coasters aren't really all that modern, so I think the park would benefit from filling out the full airtime intensity spectrum.

    • @DestinationThrills
      @DestinationThrills  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think many US coaster enthusiasts want to see a next gen Vekoma come to the states!

  • @micromoron3309
    @micromoron3309 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Vertical Velocity Is most likely not going to get removed though because it's actually more popular than even Raging Bull the line is consistently over 45 minutes of wait time. Raging Bull is usually only around a 15 - 20-minute wait when it's only running two trains. And the thing is If people didn't like V2 you wouldn't see that much of the queue filled for the entire day. Another thing to point out is that the only rides at the park that are gentle enough for their younger audience that is just getting into the 48" height range (Excluding anything that would be more intense for younger riders) are American Eagle, Viper, Batman Dark Knight, and Whizzer. If they removed/RMC'ed either of their wooden coasters, it would cause a lot of community backlash due to the lack of rides that are at the park for the younger audiences. In my opinion, I think Demon Is going to be the next rollercoaster to be replaced, in which case it would probably be installed as a hand-me-down coaster at a different park, and there's a there are numerous coaster models that could fit there, but what I think is more likely is Great America reaching out to Vekoma to completely re-track the layout and run the newer Vekoma trains on it. I agree that Eagle, though people don't like it as much as they used to, will remain at its current state for as long as they can possibly keep it running safely. I say this because a lot of people who go to Great America come from the Chicagoland area, so as you are driving down the highway, the first thing you see, other than the 300-foot tall tower rides, is Eagle. if they were to change it in any way it would just look wrong if you saw something else in place of Eagle. And Since Great America was bought by Six Flags, and there is nothing else really in Gurnee, Eagle has basically become one of the most iconic things in Gurnee Illinois.

    Your Axis argument makes the most sense as to why they would make that investment over the other options and I think having an actual prototype build can help give confidence since building a model that is new but has a physical example that it works is less worrisome than not even having a prototype. And they have the relationship with S&S that Cedar Fair doesn't, making it feel like it's going to be something more unique to their chain as well. I also think they'll look at whether or not Jersey Devil increased attendance for GaAdv when it comes to that option.

I just really hope that they get something of good length; SFGAm coasters just always feel lacking in either intensity or length (or partially in both), and I really don't like to see this trend continue. If you ranked Six Flags parks by their best coaster, I think there's an argument for Great America not being in the top half. Although so far I've only been to Great America and the not-great America.

    I also think that Axis is a great bet. But the need to do something to fix American Eagle is something they will need to contend with. So my vote is either an Axis of big GCI overhaul of American thunder. I just don't see them RMC'ing it with Goliath already in the park.

    Six Flags Great America needs to save their money for the next 5-6-7 years and come out with a banger to replace American Eagle or built out another part of the park. They should set their sites on a record breaking B&M or Intamin marvel. "The Midwest Spirit" I would call it. Go back to the basics. Height, Distance and Speed. After the success of this one, they can add a spinny chair coaster. :)

    S&S Axis would be good, however, I think it'd be a competition on which SF park could get it first. I'd likely anticipate it coming down to either Six Flags Over Georgia and/or Six Flags Magic Mountain getting 1st S&S Axis.
    Premier Rides coaster, I could see the removal of Vertical Velocity happening. Skyrocket II would make the most sense due to its compact layout. If Six Flags Great America went the West Coast Racers route, SF and Premier would have to get creative with layout.
    RMC I-Box conversion, I too don't see American Eagle getting RMC'd, and GCI doing retracking work to extend its lease on life. I'd anticipate Viper being a more ideal candidate, however, it'd likely be a clone of SFOG's Twisted Cyclone. Six Flags St. Louis has The Boss, which is rumored for I-Box conversion.
    RMC Raptor, I could see SFGAM going the Jersey Devil route.
    Mack Power Splash, if Six Flags Over Texas' new Aquaman coaster is a success, it'll be interesting to see whether SF wishes to order a couple more.

    • @DestinationThrills
      @DestinationThrills  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Totally on track with my thinking! I'd add Six Flags Fiesta Texas to mix of parks in the race to get that first Axis as well. Mack Power Splash was on my mind when outlining the video but I put the other three options ahead of it because Hurricane Harbor is getting a water coaster this year. But I think it could happen in the future at some point after Six Flags St. Louis gets one. Thank you for leaving your thoughts!

    • @erickirk6966
      @erickirk6966 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Another good coaster option...
      If Six Flags should renew its relationship with Gerstlauer, I could see Eurofighter (cheaper version of B&M dive coaster) being a good fit for SFGAM, or they could go with Zamperla version (along the lines of Luna Park at Coney Island's Thunderbolt coaster).
      Flat rides... Hopefully SFGAM decides to install a 24-story SkyScreamer ride at some point.
      Another recent development with SFSL is the closure of their Tidal Wave ride, which could be fueling speculation of them getting RMC Raptor (likely Wonder Woman/Railblazer clone) or Mack Power Splash.

    I disagree with American eagle I think it’s more of a 20% chance because even if they retrack it still won’t duel the reason why it won’t duel is because of structure. And also 2020 is when they had to renew the trains so it would be better if the rmc. Look at twisted colossus it doesn’t break a lot of even.

    SFGAm isn’t necessarily focused on getting the first of a kind, but certainly variety is key. What SFGAm really has to work off of is how much space they have to play with. They’re 100% developed, and the vast majority of their coasters are compact with small footprints. Only the three coasters built at the beginning (Eagle, Whizzer, Demon) have bigger footprints. That’s the reason why Raging Bull is a hyper twister, not a regular B&M hyper.
    If anything BIG is happening, it’ll be to American Eagle, whether it’s RMC’d or GCI’d. They don’t race trains anymore because of the structure and the ride is really rough. Otherwise they’re removing one or two other rides to build something smaller.

      Albert Sancho I wouldn’t be suprised if Demon is the next to go. It’s still one of the more popular coasters (last time I was there it had a 45 minute wait) but it is almost as old as I am. Seeing as how it was an opening day attraction (it was originally an Arrow corkscrew before it and its sister coaster at California’s Great America were lengthened into loopers), I think that they are going to try to keep it until the park’s 50th anniversary in 2026.
