  • Hi guys! My name is Vivien and I am a current first year medical student in the United States :) Follow along with my journey!
    This week I fumbled the bag. But instead of letting it take me down, we're gonna reflect, learn from it, and grow! Because that's the point of everything, not just getting through med school, but growing to become better humans.
    ALSOOO we got to 1000 subs this week!! mind=blown. THANK YOU !

    Hey tell that fear that you(say I) can do this!! Don’t let that voice overcome, look at how far you have already come and achieved!! You have passed your MCAT and now you’re in med school! That’s so amazing already, you deserve to be there and you deserve to succeed. Keep reminding yourself about your dream and how far you’ve come. You got this and we believe you!!!

    so proud of you and literally so grateful to have you to watch while im literally going through the same thing. struggling, breaking down crying, thriving, repeat. this is the most rollercoaster of two weeks that I've experienced in a minute and it feels really good not to be alone. you're not alone. this is challenging. its supposed to be challenging. but these are just bumps in the road. we're doing great.

    I'm a 4th year medical student from Latvia ( we have 6 years of medschool in total) and I still struggle finding the best study method, sometimes it can be a bit overwhelming with all of the ways you can consume information. But a real life saver for me was ninja nerd on youtube and armando hasudungan- helped out a lot in pathology and physilogoy! I also have the forest app on my phone- that helps me concentrate more. Also Faye Bate has a great video for studying tips- that are made for females :)
    Wishing you all the best!
    P.S- i have seen people do excel sheets of topics and keeping track how many times they have reviewed each topic, maybe that helps :)

    This might be a silly video suggestion, but would you be interested in or willing to make a video on how to dress for medical school as a woman? Hello. So, tbh, I am a premed, and have tested Anki, and it is not for me. Any advice? What should I replace anki with. I am actually asking this question, so that I get advice on what to do in medical school if I can't use anki

    • @vivienmakhoul
      @vivienmakhoul  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      hey joseph!! so it wasn’t for me either when i was premed (tried it and hated it) but now im into it. i think bc i was given decks for my lectures by upperclassmen, so after i receive the info, its a great way to review.
      if u get here and still hate it, u aren’t alone. tons of ppl don’t use it. i think practice questions are the best way to learn (bc it rly tests if u understand or jus memorize). tons of ppl use quizlet instead of anki, some ppl jus create their own mnemonics for everything, some ppl jus review lecture slides, some use bnb, sketchy etc.
      there is a seemingly limitless amt of resources for med students. its gonna be an adjustment period to find what works for u, but for now focus on getting thru pre med :) best of luck!!

    • @josephdahdouh2725
      @josephdahdouh2725 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@vivienmakhoul Thank you Vivien. Loved this youtube video and I am a new sub. I can't wait for more content from you. I actually prefer creating my own mnemonics and review lecture slides. So, I think I will be able to figure it out later. Additionally, I am relieved to know that anki is not a necessity, but a method of learning.

    In your last video you made iced coffee and mentioned that it might be too expensive for you to keep up with. I used to do the same for my iced coffee and felt the same way about the the price. I can 100% guarantee that if you steep Folgers coffee for a couple of hours at room temperature you'll get the exact same result. I would look at this video th-cam.com/video/XXV7M3cQDcA/w-d-xo.html .. This isn't an advertisement or anything just wanted to help out a little. This TH-camrs coffee is a little light I usually steep for like 9 hours or more. The longer you steep the darker/stronger it is. After you finish steeping I place it in the fridge and it last longer.
