The secret is binary counting, each time the clock is triggered, the number goes up by one. Here is how it represents numbers: Digit Binary Base 10 1st. 1. 1 2nd. 2. 10 3rd. 4. 100 4th. 8. 1000 5th. 16. 10000 etc... The value gets multiplied by the digit in that spot. That means that if a 9 wraps around it will turn into a 0, in binary it will be a 1. That means that binary is just a string of oscillating 1s and 0s. The beacon triggers its 1st, 2nd and 3rd ring of glass whenever the 7th, 4th and 1st bits are updated respectively. Each time the cycle reaches 255 it rolls over to 0, the same as the score in some of the games goes from 99999 to 00000.
Can u adjust it to change colour every pulse from a random tick gen? I wanna be able to do that since then itll be cool not visibly changing colour but cycles the spectrum over a few hours
I thought at first it was a simple piston belt, but you've compressed so many colours into such a compact design.

This is pretty mindblowing... I understand it uses binary counters but I dont get how that translates to showing all these hundreds of colours! insane
This is far nicer than my feed tape based rainbow beacons.
I'll add a link on my video to your tutorial once you upload it.

Wow that is compact, very cool :)
Nice job!!! The layout is so small!

Binary counters with glass as the output?
Wow thats an old youtube style intro

why not just use a slower clock?
binary counter have gone a long way since beta 1.5 XD
Hey Peter Jiang, I made one that is almost half the size and double the speed. I can show maybe if you want to see it somehow.
if used in survival, will it break on chunk reload?
I'm not sure, but you can place it in the same chunk.
is there a schematic by any chance? this is so cool!
I will make a tutorial.
Looking forward to seeing it.

Yooo!! i want this!!!
Nice video, can it be adjusted to change the colors faster?
How fast do you want?
@@peterjiangTW like from one colour to the next in 1-2 seconds? Or is that impossible?
@@GOAT_GOATERSON@GOAT_GOATERSON Remove 3 layers of piston tape from the top and 3 redstone blocks from the center.
@@peterjiangTW oh, nice, btw, do you have schematic or world download besides the tutorial?
Is there a schematic for this build?
I have a tutorial here: th-cam.com/video/rl0e_8q5FtE/w-d-xo.html
@@peterjiangTW This tutorial isn't for the rainbow though, so no instructions on placing the colored glass, just the black and white "breathing".
is the delay consistant?
Yes
