- We are back again with another Box to Bench video where we go directly from the UPS truck to the backyard range, set up the airgun and show you what kind of accuracy you can expect once the rifle is set up and sighted in. This video is designed to help you understand what the user experience is going to be directly out of the box without any tweaking or tuning.
In this video we look at the AEA HP Series SS Semi Automatic Pistol. I have a hard time thinking of this as a pistol because it has a folding AR style stock. It's really more of an ultra compact carbine. It has a very AR feel to it due to the ergonomics, including the rubberized pistol grip and telescoping stock and semi automatic action. If you like shooting AR's, or rapid fire plinking, you are going to love this little airgun.

Spoiler alert...We like this little airgun. If you get a chance to shoot one, take it. It's just fun. Everyone who shoots it says something like, "oooh, yes!" but not in a creepy way. I won't say any more, just watch the video.
Thanks to @CyclopsJoeVideos for the Bushnell scope. It's the perfect fit for this airgun, and I think it's now found a permanent home. Joe gave it to me at the 2019 RMAC competition when I met him in the parking lot. I'd never met him before. You might not expect it from him, but he's really a genuine and generous guy and I appreciate the support he's always shown our channel, and the channels of a lot of other smaller TH-camrs just like us. My AEA is a .22 caliber model, and other than fitting a scope the only other thing I've done to it is attach a #A77 adapter from DonnyFL so I can attach a Tatsu #S31 moderator to take the noise down a level or two.

Trust me you don’t want anything from AEA. All these videos are misleading. Sure it’s a great fun and I would love one but they brake like constantly.

Thanks for showing the sound stock and with a moderator on. Sounds/report (or lack there of) is my main desire where I shoot. I think this would be a super fun gun but it may just be a tad bit loud being semi auto with the blow back. It looks awesome
You can effectively moderate the muzzle out in the open, but as the shooter you get a fair amount of action noise.
I'm all giddy seeing you unbox this pistol and shoot it. I like that it's so light weight. Most airguns seem to be so very heavy unless you pay a lot.

To avoid a broken magazine, don’t exceed total recommend grain weight full mag.
When trying slugs , if they are heavier then don’t completely fill mag.
I forgot about that when trying heavier slugs in my .357 semiautomatic, broke the 10shot mag. Now I only load mag with 3 heavy slugs, works great.
The spring in the mag can only compensate so much. Learn from my error.
Safety first & have fun. Strongly recommend eye projection for blowback.

I got one 2 months ago and I love it , mines the 30cal 💥 I got the anodized blue stock with a blue Halo graphic site and tank clamp with a front grip with integrated laser and light 💥

Yes u hear it I have a 357 terminator semi auto and yes that bolt has some serious power if vibrates the 9mm 357 u can even hear a humm but an amazing gun no problems in 8 months love this gun

Thanks! Might go for the HP Carbine for more shots per fill. I imagine the accuracy will be a little better with the slightly longer barrel too. I already have an FX Maverick but it would be fun to have a little semi auto with descent accuracy. Cheers!
I agree that more air and a longer barrel will add some more efficiency. I wanted the little guy to play around with and shove into a backpack (or hoodie) and for rapid fire plinking. This one fits the bill, but I do see the appeal of the carbine.
Check out the HP Carbine TD + DonnyFL Moderator (adds another 5"). Has a big carbon fiber 450cc tank instead of standard aluminum 300cc tank. Even more shots. Hasn't arrived yet, can't wait!

Looking forward for your next video on this .22 cal. air gun. No one else seems to do a bench rest accuracy test on the .22 cal. version of this air gun. I hope that you can do some accuracy shooting off sandbags at 50 yards so that we can see a true example of the air guns potential. : )

I've had good luck with the Hades. Not really luck. Yes, It's great for the Hades. I took a out a chippie and a squirrel within yards of each-other an hour ago and they both went straight down.

I parked my four wheeler behind the house for one night and they stripped out the whole wiring harness. Apparently that insulation makes superior nest insulation.

Did you ever do a follow-up video on the AEA HP ? I bought one and it just Jams all the time. The gun only functions 3600-2300 psi , so you're doing nothing but fighting jams and reloading air. That bolt where your hand out to load and unload.
I'd like to see what pellets work best with it and your experience with the power wheel
Good to know. So far I've used the H&N 18 grain pellets, the JSB Redesigns and the Hades, and accuracy to 45 yards has been acceptable. I haven't shot off the bench at all...all my shots with it have been off hand.

Hey PJ, love the Wisconsin airgunnners channel and get a little something from each program. I have a question for you about the AEA hp ss plus in. .22. I ordered one from Utahairguns and in other programs I’ve watched them have the fist 3 mags over the Crono were high to mid 900. 980-910 then fell into the high 800’s. My thoughts on an unregulated air rifle with a power wheel. If I want to be in the mid 800’s and flatten the shot curve if I turn the power wheel down until I get the fps I want and after it starts to drop in the low 800’s turn the power wheel up a couple of clicks until I get it back to the mid 800’s. I’d love to hear your thoughts. Thanks
When you reduce the airflow you might see a lengthening of that curve. I’d figure out and “tune” to the peak. What’s happening is high tank pressure is closing the valve, and as pressure drops the valve stays open longer resulting in a climb in velocity. Then as pressure drops more, we’ll, you know that part of it. Closing the transfer port might lengthen the sweet spot.
1. At full power, how shots until tank is empty
2. Gas is regulated?
3. How much pellet drops @ 100 yards if 25 yards is dead center?
1-You can push into the third magazine, but I refill after two, 24 shots.
2-Not regulated.
3-This would depend on how you have it shooting, It has a transfer port so you have some adjustment of velocity.
Hey, what scope do have, and do you need other hardware to mount?
It's a Bushnell AR series scope. It has a 1" tube, so you need 1" dovetail rings.
My man I have watched this twice. I am thinking about getting one for the wife in .22. Have you had any issues with this pistol? It has been a year..
It ran like a champ. I used it for one “public” event and it got quite a workout several times. No issues. I sold it a while back and have heard no complaints. I still have the HP SS TD version with the carbon bottle but it’s a .25 that’s up for adoption.
What kind of risers did you use on this scope
BKL. My favorites for dovetail mounts.
What size scope mounts you use for magazine clearance?
The ones I had on that scope were generic "medium" sized mounts.
I was going to buy one of these but the Pellet Shop told me "Just full disclosure the ss actually functions better in bolt vs semi." Which immediately made me rethink buying one. Have you had any problems with it functioning?
None with this one. I had a .25 that had some cycling issues but it was replaced immediately by The Pellet Shop and that one was flawless. We ran this .22 at a fundraiser and it was going non-stop for about 4 hours without a hitch.
Haha ive got the same "little animals" and I just got orange paint for them. I live in Florida and last Thursday I actually got a $97 walmart break barrel in .177. Believe it or not I shot a lizard thru the head at 30yds! Guess I lucked out and got a good one.

Great question. While we can buy them many places, we can’t shoot them everywhere. In fact in some places, like inside a barn or in your back yard, it would be wholly inappropriate and dangerous.
I can shoot airguns safely and legally on my property, and while it would be legal to shoot a firearm it would not be safe to do so.
Mostly the answer is because I like to, and I can do it often and at low cost for ammunition.

What sort of velocity is this rig producing?
I'm still playing with the transfer port setting. It's in the low-to-mid 800's with the port 2/3 open. I'm shooting the Hades. All the way open it was north of 900.

Is it hand pump friendly?
The cylinder is relatively small, but you shoot it so fast. You'd be spending a lot of time pumping. I refill after every second magazine.
What size barrel is on there friend ?
I think it is 8" under the shroud.
I am from WI and I am about to invest in tens of thousands of dollars into big bore PCP. How do we get the DNR on board to let us use big bore air rifles for deer season?
Contact your elected representatives. Support the Airgun Sporting Association's efforts. Invite your Warden to shoot with you. I went to Michigan this fall to see what big bore hunting is all about, and I'm hooked!

What bushenll is that ? Is it true that airguns must use an airgun rated scope ?
If you are talking about springers, they have a forward and back recoil cycle that tears up scopes that aren't built to withstand such forces. Even ones rated for a .50 BMG are only built for one way force and are likely to fail.
The one I mounted on this rifle is a Bushnell, from the AR series, but I don't think they make this one anymore. At least it isn't in the on-line catalog.
Because this rifle is a pcp it has almost no recoil and doesn't need anything special in the scope category.
@@WiscAirGunners So PCP guns like the AEA can use rifle scopes? I have the AEA Carbine 30 cal and loving it. Just got it yesterday and dialed in my Element Helix. Too loud for backyard but have a suppressor coming soon.

@@WiscAirGunners Thank you. I have the AEA and am glad I can try my other rifles scopes as other air gunners told me I could not. I also have a Benjamin Marauder I love that I was worried about with my other scopes but sounds like I will be fine.
@@brocwavra8813 I've had scopes from UTG, Vortex, Hawke and Bushnell on a Marauder/Armada at one time or another with no problems.
Want to buy a lightly used AEA HPSS+ .30 cal? Comes with 6 mags, silencer adapter, bottle pic adapter, bottle sleeve, limited edition cocking knob, etc.... $600. It has the usual AEA mag cycling issues, but it's almost new. I just don't like it. It's too loud for my area.
I'm not in the market but if I hear anyone is I'll send them your way.

I bought this same gun and returned it because of all kinds of issues .In my experience I would stay away from this gun or at least the pellet shop that took $175 of my dollars for the this faulty gun.

I ran it as my squirrel/raccoon gun at deer camp. It was the featured semi-auto at a charity fun-shoot. It had three different scopes mounted on it and shot squirrels and pigeons galore. It never faltered through tins of pellets and I sold it to a guy on the AGN forum and he's now having fun with it.
@@WiscAirGunners deciding on the right air rifle to buy is really difficult, especially when on a strict budget. I've been researching for over a year while I save my money. Gets frustrating with so many options, especially when most reviewers are biased toward the air rifles they review. Thanks for honest reviews!

@@abseconPC I'm on the side of the professional opinion of the mental health doctor who determines if a person that has mental illness is possibly a danger to the public, therefore following precautions would think it not safe for those individuals to possess firearms. You can protect yourself with pepper gel spray, or a PCP airgun, or black powder cap and ball like you're doing. Sometimes you have to ask if certain people should be able to have guns and make that decision based on logic.
Why are so many chinese built airguns proving so problematic ? over a very short life, they may be powerful & cheap but they are causing problems.

my AEA HP SS exploded on initial fill up @ 180 bar. it is under warranty but AEA will not answer the emails I sent them. NO CUSTOMER SERVICE. sorry I ever bought it. secondly, this is made in china.
when spam hits the fan, you will not be able to order guns or parts. I own several AEA air guns, but I'll never buy another one.
Who was your retailer? That’s who typically does the warranty in the US.
@@WiscAirGunners honestly, I don't remember. I have numerous and have purchased 2 AEA airguns from each dealer here in the states, some 3. I am a collector and decided to take a few to the back pasture for testing when the incident occurred. guessing, I probably bought it from BIN. and as stated I sent emails to BIN, FOX, and the PELLET SHOP that have gone unanswered for 2 months now.
