I've never quite understood why we hold actors in such awe....they are afforded the type of kudos that demi gods would demand. They are people that lie for a living and are paid an unjustifiable large amount of money to do so. We should have the same type of admiration for nurses, firefighters, childcarers, garbage men etc....these are the real people who make a real difference on our day to day lives

She's talking specifically about acting, which can indeed be a lot of work, even if you have tons of money and assistants. Some roles require losing tons of weight, or gaining tons of muscle. Some require learning a new language, how to box, how to fight, shoot, sing, cook, dance, ride a horse, drive a race car, or do their own stunts. The working hours can be 'til dawn, traveling to many locations, pouring your heart and soul out dozens of times for the perfect take, showing up early, leaving incredibly late, stuck havin' prosthetics applied for hours on a daily basis where you can hardly move, weeks and months of promotional interviews etc. Of course workin' in a factory like you mentioned is harder, but she never said acting was superior in terms of hardship, just that it can take a lot to do it.

Kidman "what it takes to do this work" ...Try working in a factory 12hrs day 6 days a week, or in the service industry or health care.....These people shouldn't be praised they're so out of touch with reality.
She's talking specifically about acting, which can indeed be a lot of work, even if you have tons of money and assistants. Some roles require losing tons of weight, or gaining tons of muscle. Some require learning a new language, how to box, how to fight, shoot, sing, cook, dance, ride a horse, drive a race car, or do their own stunts.
The working hours can be 'til dawn, traveling to many locations, pouring your heart and soul out dozens of times for the perfect take, showing up early, leaving incredibly late, stuck havin' prosthetics applied for hours on a daily basis where you can hardly move, weeks and months of promotional interviews etc.
Of course workin' in a factory like you mentioned is harder, but she never said acting was superior in terms of hardship, just that it can take a lot to do it.

From child actor/actress who are/were abuse(d) and exploited in Hollywood, grabbing women, sexually abusing actors/actressess, e.g. Jim Carrey kissing Alicia Silverstone against her will on the stage, etc.
And Chris, also has a pattern of degrading and make fun of black women (appearance , sexuality, etc.). But I think that is okay, to have such a person to held the Oscar's.
