You owned that spot, nice video. That's the worst feeling when the drag is being ripped off and you feel the line against the structure. Thanks for all the awesome videos in 2019!
I bet it was that big snook spotted earlier in the video. Or.....a big jack as you said. Stranger things have happened than a big snook hitting a pomp jig. Unlikely, but not impossible. It's the unknown heart breakers that keep us coming back, Thonny! Nice vid.
We havnt seen too many pompano at the pass in a few weeks just an occasional one here and there. Been catchin snook and reds on the other side tho. Good video Thonny.
Tony I love your channel this is David we met at caladesi Island what's the best line use for pompano mono or braid I don't know I just got the idea monofilament sinks faster
Hey Donnie. I wanted to ask you about your Gloomis 8’ heavy power rod I see in some of your videos. 3/4 ounce to 6 ounce. Have you ever used it for throwing flare hawks ? I was looking at a Star Rod 8’ heavy power 15 -25 line and 3/4 to 2 ounce. Your opinion matters. I know you will give good advice , cheers Donnie.
Thought I heard you mention that you make your own teasers. I had a tough time finding Doc's Goofy Jigs in stock. Couldn't find the teasers. Do you have a video where you show how to make those? thanks
Species I've caught with that jig : pompano , permit , black drum , Spanish mackarel , sheepshead , Cobia , mangrove snapper , blue fish , pin fish , grunt , lady fish, flounder , stripped bass , Tautog , Porgies , Sea robin , Sea bass and few more well let me tell you this is the deadliest saltwater lure ever invented I love them.
Ajmobilemastertechnician Nunez let it sink to the bottom and hop it along the bottom leaving slacks if your lines too tight with working the lure most likely you’re not working the bottom. Occasionally I’ll get pompano on the drop but the pompano are gonna be at the bottom.
Fisherman's ideal supply house (FISH) in st Pete has them. Waaaayyyy better prices than Bass Pro too. A few other smaller shops around there and Ft Desoto carry them as well.

Glad someone is killing it in the Pass. Thanks for another great video.

10lb braid and 20lb flouro leader are all you need
@@Thonny thank you
Might've been a monster redfish tearing off your line.

Ohh yea I recognize that building behind you....
I find those jigs at Walmart for 1-2$ for 3 but no teasers, you think I could just use old sabikis
That might work!! Sometimes they will hit just the jigs!
more tight friction release line let the fish run then adjust the friction to wander and bring the fish back just a tip.
Purple Death teasers. 👍

Cook vid, dude! What materials you used to tie those teasers? Any links for me to buy some?
Grand Wonder nylon and some flashes mainly!
Thanks bud for the info!
Awesome video brotha!! Hey do you sell your teasers?? I hate buying these small teasers because they get destroyed quickly! Let me know brotha.
where is this spot? love to follow and watch your fishing!
Bro I’ve been fishing that spot for months trying to find pompano
Does that line have any weight to it or do you cast that straight with the teaser and the banana jig?
The jig is weighted
Hey saltyfins what's your tips and tricks on pompano I be trying to catch it at the sky way fishing Pier
Matthew White fish the currents and bounce that jig off the bottom!
Can you show how you use that jig?
🐟🤙
That had to of been a big jack or something that peeled line off like it was nothing
Where do I get those " Docs Goofy Jigs" ? Great video.
They're everywhere, including Walmart.
Is it John’s Pass?
Nelson N its the South Side of Johns Pass
is that johns pass
Can you catch pompano all winter?
You probably snagged a sting ray
Edit: maybe a king fish because theres king fish in JP but it would be hard to get one on a pompano jig
Nice catches , Question, that jig your using do do sink it to the bottom when you jerking the tip of the rod or do you retrieve before it sinks?
Ajmobilemastertechnician Nunez let it sink to the bottom and hop it along the bottom leaving slacks if your lines too tight with working the lure most likely you’re not working the bottom. Occasionally I’ll get pompano on the drop but the pompano are gonna be at the bottom.

If you had tighten down that drag just a few clicks you would of had him bro. Don't be afraid to muscle a fish when you have too.
how heavy is the jig your using?
Smoove B 3/8
where did you get the jigs?
Docsgoofyjigs.com
