And even then, not all of the sexual elements are bad. For many it's just a way to sexually express love and passion in a way they are comfortable with, or characterized in a way that more clearly defines their personality and tastes.
There are a lot of neurodivergent people in the furry community, and putting on something like a fursuit can be very freeing. It can allow you to unmask (ironic) because people are more accepting of different behavior when in a costume. You won't be expected to make eye contact, and people can't see your face.
Thats why i realllllly want a fursuit, im autistic and it would be so amazing to finally unmask and feel like I am just taking part in being my fursona or my true self without being judged as a being but as a character. :)

Honestly they're just a past thing. I don't even think of them anymore. On a positive note the new suits are improving every year on average and they're just fun to see.
The best thing about the furry community is that the furry fandom are really creative and yet more enjoyful compared to other fandom. You can literally make alot of different characters using animal feature and you would be surprised how many different OC you could find in the community. The only thing people should be aware is that there are sexual stuff but it is no different with any other fandom or community, and you can't do anything about it.
Even then, not all of the sexual elements are bad. Sexuality, and sexual expression are a big part of being a living creature, and it can be a beautiful, loving thing. It's when negativity, degradation, abuse, and/or non-consensual stuff are involved do things go south. Unfortunately, it can happen anywhere, in any community where sex is a facet of its existence.
@@StrikerTheHedgefox most people who engage into naughty stuff like dominance and non consensual are often roleplay that are already consented by the both individuals, it's often practiced by people to enhance a more intense pleasure and the feeling of euphoria. There's little to no hate against like fantasy and sci-fi fandoms, which I am also really into, but furries are the ones that get knocked on. I'm hoping it will just balance out and normalize at some point. Thanks for this video, cause it's definitely a step in the right direction!

I do have to agree, many people's first fursona's or OC's are either a wolf, fox or a folf (mix of both). I'm no exception to this lol. My first ever OC was a ice fox modeled after the "crystal critters" (I think their actual name was something like Vulptex or something similar to that) from Star Wars in Episode 8. Finn called them crystal critters, and I really liked the design, so I incorporated it into my design and eventually ended up with Shimo, who will (eventually) be my online avatar once I get a ref sheet and stuff done. Another thing about the fandom as well is that many people have more than one OC. I myself have three (Shimo, my online avatar, Darmen, who's a Dutch Angel Dragon and my main OC, and my newest OC which is Terragon. He's actually modeled after a hybrid from the book series "Wings of Fire" as that is by far my favorite series. For those familiar with the series, Terragon is a LeafWing, SeaWing, IceWing hybrid and his name is based off of the herb "tarragon"). That aside, the fandom is full of amazing people for sure, and there's surprisingly very little hate at all. You pretty much have to go looking for haters to really get much hate about it. The funny thing as well is I know many people in the fandom that joined because they were hating on the community and then realized what it actually was and ended up joining it, which is quite ironic to say the least lol.

The reason you see so many "dogs" in the fandom is because people are doing what they want and aren't trying to grab attention. A lot of people vibe with dogs, and considering there are hundreds of breeds, you can't really just say a dog is a dog. I find that a lot of people that make outrageous suits just want to be a spectacle and get attention (don't mean this in a bad way, it is literally the point of entertaining people-- to grab their attention), but most normal and subdued people tend to stay true to themselves and don't necessarily want to stand out in a group of furries. That said, going back to the dog-is-a-dog thing, there are even breeds of DOG that would stand out in a crowd. I've never seen a Shih-Zu suit and although they might look like Chewbacca (I imagine), I feel like that is actually incredibly unique for a dog breed. There are so many options that you can easily be a dog and still be unique if you choose without going sparkle dog territory (although some people are into that).
