Not for me when I shot my first gun it was an M&P shield plus my friend showed me the proper way of holding and gripping the pistol and focusing on the front sight and I hit my targets with pretty decent groupings I guess it just comes natural to me.
I just moved and I finally have land. I fired off my first live rounds this week in my yard. What an absolute SURREAL feeling. Almost like I was in a foreign country and moved to America, whilst being in America. LOL
Edit: Wow, 1 year later. I started my TH-cam up again. 50k subs in 1 year with this new ability to have access to freedom. Thats crazy to me. I never wouldve have been able to do what I am doing now without my range.

I have become a fan of Turkish firearms. My TP9SFx is a fantastic handgun. Very smooth and easy to shoot. Also love my Yildiz over and under shotguns in 12 and 20 gauge. Turkish firearms have come a long way in the past few years.
for 12 and 20 gauge, i suggest you to check out following turkish brands: "derya", "hatsan", "huglu". due to the pistol restriction laws in turkey, shotgun brands are way advanced than pistol ones. greetings from turkey

I myself hai 4 turkish guns. Two shotguns and two pistols. Kral xps semi auto, torun, canik tp9sfx and a girsan mc1911 s9 match. Thinking of selling my tp9sfx and buying rival dark side instead.

@@george.s.8491 what’s crazy is there is a decent amount of viewers who live In other countries and can barely even get a fire arm and they still watch. It’s pure entertainment in that sense. It’s fun to watch him just nail targets he is like the mister rogers of guns.

I just bought this pistol last week. One range session so far. It is pretty darn amazing. With a red dot it is almost too easy!
Not if you hit with it! Like car guys with manuals and autos, it's a great race til they switch! Same case, though, it's ALWAYS better to be somewhat comfortable with both. Good luck.
This my 4th Canik. Got it yesterday and christened it this morning. It shoots bettee than my TP9SFX. I just wish it was dovetailed in the rear so i can install speed sights

I have used a Canik in USPSA for every match I've ever shot. First an SFX, then swapped to the Rival when it came out. Both are awesome, but the Rival is a really nice improvement. Reliable, accurate, cheap. What more could you ask for? I have not found the gun to be a limiting factor for me at all, going all the way from brand new beginner to Master class. Just a great gun.
My Rival is my favorite range pistol...

The good thing I feel about Hickok45 is he speaks from his heart and always found him unbiased . All his review videos are in a single session without any cuts and editing.
I have the rival also. Very very good shooting gun. Can be used for personal defense but the Canik Elite Combat is made for defense. If you haven’t shot it you should. It’s what I carry daily and probably wont use any other gun. Yes it’s that good.
A lot of people are figuring out just how good Canik is. I have owned all the big brands and Canik has been my go to for 6 years now. I bought a TP9 elite and it made me a fan from the first magazine I went thru. The Rival will be my next purchase!
Just bought the grey and gold color rival about a few weeks ago and it’s now my favorite pistol. Comes with everything you need or would upgrade right out of the box. The trigger is great and feels really comfortable.
@Zac's DIY Guns That’s a great idea they should offer a gold and black model. It would be nice if the grey model had the co witness plate.

@@grantnuss9649 you can buy bronze trimmings for it fairly cheap. And since it comes with the punch tool designed to tear everything apart with one tool you shouldn't have an issue

I absolutely love my Canik Rival Darkside. One of the smoothest shooting pistols I own.
I find it very relaxing when you're reloading mags.. especially helps as you talk with us :)
My very first firearm and conceal carry firearm was the Canik TP9SA, and I shot and carried it for years. I replaced it with the M&P 2.0 because it was a bit too big to carry everyday, but now it serves as our secondary home defense weapon. Canik makes some good weaponry, and at a great price
I’m looking to trade out my 2.0 (full size)for something lighter. Are you saying their compact one is heavy vs smiths 2.0 compact?

I have the original SFX and just purchased the grey/gold rival and I love the Canik handguns!
I have the gold and silver version of the Darkside you are shooting. Love this pistol it's by far my favorite gun to shoot. Love seeing it here.
I bought the TP9SFx model and was really impressed with the trigger, it's by far the best trigger of any pistol I own and the most accurate as well.

Canick makes great pistols I have the TP9sf and the TP9sf elite sub compact and they been great firearms and priced really well
Got one, love it. Not for carry, only for target shooting. For the price there is nothing better.

It's another souped-up TP9, which means it's pretty awesome.
I use this pistol in competition and absolutely love it!
Hickok there are no negatives. The Darkside and the grey one are the exact same pistol. The Darksight has one plate for optics that has a rear sight for co witness but the grey one doesn't come with that plate for some reason. Otherwise they are the same pistol. I have a Darkside and it's so easy to shoot it's like cheating. I haven't put a Optic on it but I'm considering it. I have a Glock 43x with a Holosun and it's fun to shoot but the Canik has been great with the iron sights.
I can see why these are so popular in competition. They come ready to go for production class and IMO are worlds better than a stock Glock 34. You just can't go wrong with a Canik. They have slot of value for the money you pay for them. Actually they can't build them fast enough these days.

Great review, I've been wanting to get a Rival and this about seals the deal! Only the Darkside model comes with the extra optics plate with the rear site mounted for smaller red dots, and the grey and gold model looks great and comes with 4. I believe there will be an an aftermarket plate w/ rear site coming out soon for the grey version. The Cerakote on the Caniks have been perfect EXCEPT for a brand new SFX Signature Series Whiteout I own that came with a small cut in the Cerakote finish near the rear sight, which almost looks like some tool mark :(. My other Canik's are perfect though; never had a single issue with them and I've owned a TP9SA for 4 years now. Canik keeps putting out so many great handguns, now all we need is some models in a few different calibers!
i have the whiteout and the tp9 elite subcompact as well as a rival in the gold and gray. all 3 are great guns but the rival is my favorite. such a great trigger and just overall great shooting gun. especially for the price tag.
@@coondogg729 Yeah, they're fun to shoot with those nice triggers, I'd love to try the Rival out. I almost want to pick up another TP9 Elite SC since they just released the new We The People model and the Damascus models, which have nice designs and come in a few colors. I missed out on the Bronze Trophy edition but am happy with the one I own. They showed the new laser Cerakote machine at Shot Show 2022 (saw the footage on Classic Firearms channel) that Canik is using now and they can create all sorts of nice patterns, they're calling them "Canik Creations" and the models are on their site and are available now. I'm sure there will be plenty more to come, they're also releasing a METE Pro model and might be releasing a METE SC model. I've never fired the METE line, and will probably skip it though for a Rival.
I tried finding a full size Canik in my area but no one had one in stock. I really like this gun but I'll take what I can get. Thanks for the awesome review Daddy Hickok!

I never owned a Canik SFx but I do have it's close cousin the Tisas Zigana PX-9 9mm and it shoot extremely well love this pistol.

I have a rival and all I changed is I took that big stick out off the mag release added the heavier but plates on the mags and added a green dot and it seems to love the 124 grain Sig +P hollow points , guns good to go and I love it.
Mr. Hickok45 -- Time to get on board with optics. It's where the world has gone, especially for competition. Rival is a very complete package. Has all the optic mounting plates. Great trigger.

@@hickok45 There're a lot of us who watch your reviews to give us insight into best value for our money. A great many of us are moving to optic sights. Your informed opinion about various optics could be helpful. Not even remotely suggesting you need an optic. You do very, very well with iron sights.

I just picked up my first pistol in a canik rival, heard a lot of good things. Was a little disappointed I didn't know they had all steel frames coming out and an all stainless steel model looks cool. These designs are definitely unique its like a car wreck you can't take your eyes off of lmao

@@In_con_ceivable The SFX models look distinctly different from the other guns on the market. The slide serrations and slide cuts on Canik guns are different. Canik has also entered a partnership with Cerakote where they have a laser etching machine that can print designs on their guns.
My Walther PDP compact will not outshoot my Canick SP 9 elite. Shot both with and without optic. Also, I was training some young females to shoot, and they would REGULARLY stovepipe the Walther (never had a problem) and no case with the Canick. Grip fixed it, but just a heads up.

I think Caniks now rank as the number one brand I own in my handgun collection of like 64, they make up around 8-12. 4 Mete in the Miami styling (day and night full set x2, one to shoot and one to keep for collector's reason, only 3050 made), two Rival SFx in the two color ways, a couple of TP9s. I think Walther is a close second with 4 Q5 Matches, 2 PDPs, 2 PPKs. I have a bad habit of needing to collect them all when I find a company I like, hence why I ended up with 14 Mossberg Shockwaves in 7 (x2) of the 8 12gauge variants they offer.

Bought a Rival a few weeks ago. After about 500 rounds: no hiccups, amazing (for me) groups. Only my 1911 has a trigger this good.
Yup. I mainly run striker fired guns. Up until now, the trigger on a P99 AS was the best striker fired trigger. I have owned other caniks, just bought a darkside. Absolutely best striker fired trigger out there. You could spend $300 on an aftermarket Glock trigger and it wouldn't even come close to this.

I recently got the grey one. I love it. I ordered the pvd fluted extended threaded barrel. Can't wait to get that in. But ordering from Canik is some what of a cluster F so well see

Caniks are not known for extracting their spent casings very far but this rival seems to buck the ordinary
