Really great tutorial! I like your approach and detailed instruction.
Please make a top zip hack tutorial for the lined version!! Pretty please ❤ I know there are other vids out there, but their top zipper ends either leave gaps or are super short. I just know yours would be lovely. Thank you for all of the great content.

I loved this tutorial, so clear and concise instructions and excellent filming. I can't wait to try this! Thanks so much. I did make 2 your way, the first was perfect. The second for some reason didn't line up perfectly. I fudged it and made it work. But will do another. I work along with you and it is a great tutorial!

I love the thought you put into editing this pattern. There are so many good tips about which way to face the vinyl, using piping foot, etc. Fantastic video! And I’m so glad I had the pleasure of meeting you at SME FL 2022. 😊

Thank you so much for the kind compliments! I do try to be mindful but there is always room to improve. It was a pleasure to meet you as well! A major part of SME is meeting new friends!

I love your hacks. I have done several reduced size for kids in clear printed vinyl. Never thought to use solid for the side pieces to hide the tabs. Also...that zipper tape with the Midnight rainbow teeth...my favorite. Thank you for the video.

Great tutorial, Tfs! I'm a quilter and the side wings need to be lined up higher due to the angle so that you are starting to sew where they meet, SA. Hard to explain. But if you do you won't have to trim the top.

Love the tutorial! I've been looking for that same green vinyl for over a year!

This vinyl was from Joann’s, and at the time I bought it, it was discontinued. So sad, since I love it so much!

Your tutorial is stellar - but may I ask why you don't cut two fronts to make the back? It just seems easier that way. But this is really great!

When I had done that on my testers, the solid colored side tabs didn’t line up 100% perfectly. Normally it couldn’t matter but this is clear vinyl and I wanted it to line up perfectly so that my project didn’t look sloppy through the clear vinyl.

This is great Rae, thanks so much, what length did u cut the strapping? I really liked how u fully explained the straps, threading thru etc, very helpful, will view again tomorrow, when I add my straps. For the fabric top zipper do u wrap the zippers the same way? Approx same length of zipper as the clear vinyl? Looking forward to the next video! Thanks

Unfortunately it was at Joann’s, years ago, and they discontinued it. It’s a shame too because it’s seriously great looking and feeling! Sorry!!

I'm on the strap part that is sewn into the pack. And the one side you said it was 14". How much for the long piece?

  • @Kauffdrop

@emporiumthreads how will this work without clear vinyl? In trems of the divider. Also I assume you can make the back panel a full piece and it will cover the Drings

I would cut the back piece from a pattern piece made from the front pieces.

    • @EmporiumThreads

In creating and testing this hack, creating the back piece the way I did ensures that it lines up perfectly with the front and the d ring tabs are perfectly hidden vs cutting it all in one go (which was tried) and the rear side of the front was exposed and didn’t look as crispy and clean. Since it’s clear vinyl, anything that’s off will show the seams and ugliness if all seams and placements aren’t perfect aligned. But it is a good thought. Just didn’t work well consistently, for me.
