    • @Six-Stitches
      @Six-Stitches  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Hi Phyllis! I cut each zipper panel to 1.5” wide by the length in the pattern. Then I increased my bottom gusset to match the final size of the zipper panels. Hope that helps!

    What stitch length do you use for vinyl?

    • @Six-Stitches
      @Six-Stitches  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I usually use a 4 but it can really depend on what I’m doing. For construction I definitely use a 4 though. Sometimes for too stitching I’ll do 4.5-5

    I like that you have 2 sides on the zipper. Does that mean you need to change the size of the main panel when you increase the width of the zipper?

    • @Six-Stitches
      @Six-Stitches  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I only changed the zip panels to 1.5” wide and then i creased the bottom gusset to match.

  • @joycejesko4024
    @joycejesko4024 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    can you give a list of what you cut, I want the 2 pieces for the zipper, yours is different from the pattern also what measurements did you use for the binding?

    • @Six-Stitches
      @Six-Stitches  ปีที่แล้ว

      I used 3/4” wide binding. For the zipper gussets I increased my base by about 1/2” and then made 2 zipper panels to match. I didn’t change the length of any zipper panels!

  • @daniellepierson8821

    Great video, did you cut your jelly binding, just like you would fabric when piecing it together or did you buy the jelly binding?

    • @Six-Stitches
      @Six-Stitches  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I have a roll dedicated to jelly binding. So I cut a 3/4” strip x width of the roll. Then I cut that in 2. So roughly 26-27” long x 3/4” wide is what makes my binding. It’s the perfect length and width

  • @cindyaltheide5474
    @cindyaltheide5474 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thank you so much for the great, and very informative, video! I do have a question about the front zipper pocket. Did putting the zipper in the front piece make it so much bigger or did you cut it bigger to begin with?

    • @Six-Stitches
      @Six-Stitches  ปีที่แล้ว

      Glad you liked it! Placing the zipper and doing everything right side up with the clear vinyl is why my piece ended up being bigger. If you do this where the zipper and fabric are right sides together, turn and top stitch your pieces should end up being the right size if you take the right seam allowance!

    • @Six-Stitches
      @Six-Stitches  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I just made my zipper 5.5” or 6” long instead of 5. Then trimmed the over hang on my zip tabs. Then my phone fit 😊

  • @dixie9290
    @dixie9290 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hi. Thanks for the video. What are zipper overlays made of and what is their measurement? Also I am confused around 53:56 about front panel being cut to pattern piece yet it is longer than that 2nd panel of clear but then being cut off after that seam; I'm watching over again cause I'm sure I missed something.

    • @Six-Stitches
      @Six-Stitches  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The zipper overlays are .5” jelly vinyl! The front panel just gets trimmed up from adding a zipper. But I’m adding the zipper and panel both right side up. Instead of right sides together, flip and top stitch. So I end up with a little extra space since no seam allowance is taken. That’s why I trim. Hopefully it makes sense.

  • @SewGigi
    @SewGigi ปีที่แล้ว

    I am new to sewing, so adjusting patterns is a little confusing for me. You doubled the zipper panel, I like that, but, the gusset I’ll be wider, right? And is the gusset still 15 1/2? I bought pattern and templates, but, not sure of measurements now. I love your teaching and bags. Thank you
