The studio version was 2:44. It is difficult to write a hit. If you get a hit under 3 minutes. It is really an accomplishment. It leaves nothing unsaid and even has 3 verses. It is catchy as all get out, basically a perfect song. Belindas looks don't hurt at all.

There was a hush quiet and then the caller said well you sing our lips our sealed. It was so funny and has stuck in my head ever since. Golden times.
Jane Weidlen actually wrote this song. Their biggest hit! I didn’t know this until today. So she is not only cute but talented as well. They owe a lot of their success to her because I still hear this song on the radio 📻. Go Jane! Go Go Gos!
Jane Weidlen co-wrote that song with Terry Hall of The Specials, Fun Boy 3, Colourfield, etc., whilst having a fling way back when the Go-Gos were on tour in the UK backing The Specials.
One of the finest rock and roll bands in my opinion. One of the few really. Jane Weidlin would be my first choice for rhythm guitarist/backing vocalist if I was able to build a 'cool' supergroup to write, record and play with.

Possibly since they are playing in a different key... the usual for older bands... particularly vocals suffer eventually... happens to even the best after so many tours and shows. Pat Benatar has lowered many of her songs live. She can still sing very well, but the high notes get harder to do.
If you're comparing this with the single, I believe both are actually played in the same key (G), and standard tuning. The single was "sped up" and is somewhere near G#/Ab +- a few cents. I cannot find ONE live video of them on TH-cam from the 80s to present day where they aren't playing it in G. Try playing it in G, it is tons easier, and matches Kathy's fingerings here and in all the other live videos.

I've been a musician (guitar/drums) for over 30 years and I actually never knew who the bass player from the GoGos was. I remember Jane on "The Real World" talking about how she played lead guitar in one of the most influential punk bands ever. Seriously? The GoGos? I still laugh about that. Oops, it was on "The Surreal Life"
